Perhaps the one I’ve seen the most is “Countdown For Zartan” from GI Joe.
Such a fun episode of TV that features some of the best characters from the show. Also, a very early exposure to a cool heel in Storm Shadow.

Just about every episode is badass! Another one I really liked from then is Heavy Metal War.

GI Joe: There's No Place Like Springfield Bravestarr: The Price Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends: A Firestar Is Born Garfield and Friends: Video Airlines (yes, the origin of the Kung Fu Creatures on the Rampage meme) Captain N: Quest for the Potion of Power (the best thing involving Captain N and Animated Link)
There's probably more, but those are the first ones that come to mind

Some more came to mind:
Jem: Glitter and Gold Care Bears and the Land Without Feelings (technically a tv special, but it's the same length as an episode, so I'm counting it) Dungeons and Dragons: The Dragon's Graveyard Transformers: War Dawn

Still making my way through a GI Joe rewatch. Two episodes I forgot how much I enjoyed are The Traitor 2 parter and The Wrong Stuff.
The Wrong Stuff in part parodies The Right Stuff, but it has more pop culture references than most GI Joe episodes (many of which really don’t have any).
Cobra captures all the world’s satellites and uses them to take control of TV. They make their own versions of Johnny Carson, The Smurfs, and The A Team. They even have King Kong which seems like just the original movie except they change the ending to promote Cobra’s philosophy. Likewise their version of Carson interviews Cobra Commander, The Cobra version of The Smurfs teaches that all people should be the same, and The C Team is used to recruit for Cobra including having a star called Mr. C (instead of Mr. T)!
I love GI Joe but with some episodes you can tell they are just cranking them out to sell toys. This one on the other hand, the writer definitely had fun with.

Pretty much all of Jem. It is such a crazy show when you look at it now. Probably my favorite though is "The Fan" where the Misfits pay a crazed rich fan of Jem to create a fake version of her life. It also gave us this

Transformers: Divide and Conquer
It was the first, and maybe only, episode where Starscream's competency matches the source material. In the original source material the Seekers, sans Skywarp, were obscenely loyal to Starstream and Megatron might have had to deal with mass mutiny rather than one, duplicitous opportunist if he ditched him. They were loyal to him because he was the most powerful of their number, which suggests a certain amount of competence. G1 Starscream almost never displayed that in the cartoon.
In this episode, Starscream leads a team (with Thundercracker and Skywarp) to steal energon from a power plant. Optimus Prime, due to the fact that he is out and about searching for clues as to where the next port for the Decepticons' space bridge will be, is the first to respond, taking them on 3 to 1. That....was not the best course of action for him. As the other Autobots arrive they see the Decepticons leaving with their prize and a severely wounded Prime in their wake.
Seeking to learn about just how badly Prime was hurt, Lazerbeak is ordered to infiltrate the Autobot base (apparently Brawn was so dense that he could not sense Lazerbeak land on his shoulder (albeit in tape form, but still), ride into base on his shoulder, then take off once inside the base. Seeing Prime opened up on the operating table, Megatron orders Lazerbeak to attack him while his insides were exposed, making the damage even worse. The only way to save Prime now is to get a thingmajig from Wheeljack's lab on Cybertron, meaning they needed to find the next space bridge port the Decepticons put up.
That port, btw, is being supervised by Starscream (assisted by Rumble). At this point you can see that, at the very least, the Reflector units were highly intimidated by him (which you NEVER see from any Decepticon despite him being the second-in-command of a force where rank = kickass ability). Chip takes about 5 seconds to calculate where that port will be because he thought to use the base computer to aid his search , so way to drop the ball there, Prime. A team of Autobots (plus Chip) arrive at the port right as a massive rainstorm starts. The Decepticons defend the port well enough that they probably would have won (a battle that included Starscream uprooting a huge tree and using it to club him some Autobots), but they receive a transmission from Megatron telling them to throw the fight. They do, and the Autobots make the jump to Cybertron. They also glue Shockwave to the floor when the get there to make their escape onto the planet.
The reason Megatron let them escape that first fight? Well, after they get the doohickey he orders three previously unseen Seekers on Cybertron to seed the atmosphere with acid rain in order to kill the Autobots(?). I mean, it inconvenienced them for a commercial break until Chip gave a motivational speech, at which point Trailbreaker erects a force field and Bluestreak shoots the clouds to make the rain go away(?). Way to drop the ball there, Megatron.
Assuming that the acid rain killed the Autobots (what is he, a Bond villain?), Megatron prepares to attack the now Prime-less Autobots. The group escapes Cybertron by literally driving into the space bridge at high speed (running over the recently freed Shockwave) and haul ass back as the massive fight unfolds. Interestingly enough, it is Starscream who is thinking strategically as he notes that the Decepticons were using too much energy in the battle, to which Megatron replied that he would do the heavy lifting to end the battle.
At the tail end of the battle, a fairly exhausted Megatron is standing over a bunch of beaten and battered Autobots. He gloats and asks if there were anyone left who would challenge him, a challenge that is accepted by a freshly repaired Optimus Prime. Starscream goads Megatron by telling him that he asked for a one on one combat challenge and had to fight it now that he had a challenger. Megatron attacks. Megatron gets bitchslapped. The episode ends by Starscream mocking Megatron, then even more mockingly orders a retreat so that their leader can get some much needed repairs.
Here's the thing: Starscream was my very first Transformer. I read up on the character bio and dug it HARD. The G1 farted all over that. Sure, he was memorable, but not in a good way. I'd have to wait decades for a Starscream portrayal to come close to what I expected. There were others that had him be highly competent. There were others where he was really interesting. Transformers Prime was the first one to be pretty on the mark. This G1 episode was as close as I was going to get for some time, which made me quite nostalgic for it.

Aired in 1990 so I hope it still counts but Real Ghostbusters: Ragnarock N' Roll Show debuted in 1990 so it technically counts (One of my picks: Captain N's "Quest for the Potion of Power" was also from 1990).

Aired in 1990 so I hope it still counts but Real Ghostbusters: Ragnarock N' Roll No. 1990 was not in the 80's. Technically the first year of a new decade still represents the previous decade, and 1990 was as 80s as any other year.
