You know, that book ended up being a bit prophetic when he went to the Wizards and tore a new hole into everyone and destroyed Kwame Brown's psyche.

If you ever for one second had the idea that Jordan threw games, just watch this documentary. The man is psychotic in his drive to win. I definitely think he had/has a gambling problem. But it never went as far as him throwing games. He is incapable of purposely losing.

The guy who’s picked the soundtrack for the montages is doing a great job. Every montage needs the Stereo MCs. 😁

Man, I feel pretty lucky Jerry Krause never knew me. God knows what Jordan would do if he liked me.

The only way I bought into him having to fix his gambling problems was to leave the game because no f***ing way could he throw the game on purpose without bursting into flames

But I’ve always thought that, if it was true, it was more that the league wanted things to cool down. And didn’t want to take any risk of having to suspend their marquee player.

Yea, Michael leaving the game in the middle of his prime is always going to rise suspicion. Playing baseball is a nice excuse but a potential cover up because he was knee f***ing deep in gambling addictions For him it was more of an 18 month vacation than anything. Jordan desire to win drove that man mad but he needed a mental break more then anything

I think the gambling aspect was part of it but I really think it was more about his dad being murdered that caused MJ to walk away for a while. When will they discuss that whole tragedy? Next week I guess?
That 1993 NBA playoffs was just the best thing ever, ever, ever. The Game 3 of the Finals is the best NBA game I've ever seen, and hey, for the burial they did on Dan Majerle he did get the better of Jordan at the end of that night at least. I loved that Suns team though. Lest we forget Majerle's Game 5 against the Sonics where he hit 8 threes. Thunder Dan ruled. He just couldn't guard Jordan over 6 games. Why didn't Paul Westphal double Jordan or put someone else on him for a while? But yeah, while the East just came down to the Bulls and Knicks the Western playoffs were totally nuts: A crap Lakers team shocked the Suns by getting up 2-0 before the Suns turned it around to win in 5, Barkley's game winner to close out the Spurs, the Sonics/Rockets series, and the wild WCF.
This is really an episode I wanted to see. I think a lot of other people will as well since the 1993 Finals were the 2nd highest rated NBA series ever behind the 1998 Finals. That series did a 17.9 overall, which is just nuts.

I don't recall ever hearing about Jordan throwing games, and I've heard most sports rumors. There's been tons of conjecture about his pops being murdered because either he or MJ or both were very much in the hole to the wrong people. As much as I love MJ, his dad's death and his reaction to it are sketchy as all hell.
Barkley balled out. They only covered Jordan's scoring numbers, but the first 4 games of that tight series Barkley averaged 30/14/6 with 1.5 steals and shot 40% from 3. Barkley wasn't kidding, he was playing the best ball of his life and it just wasn't enough. Hilarious that Draymond thinks the two of them are in the same league. No team with Dray as the best player makes the Finals, much less gives the GOAT all he can handle. In fact, Dray was probably the best (non-rested) player on GS and they could win the lottery this season.

It is why more so I hate the ring narrative because Chuck made it to the chip and balled out but you lost to the better player and team. I'm not going to take away from Draymonds rings but the importance of rings is a bit skewed imo. Draymond can talk shit for being a big part of ring 1 but KD won them rings 2 and 3 for him while he also cost them a ring for his stupidity in kicking LBJ in the dick Draymond needs the Warriors as much as they need him. You put Draymond on any other team and he is an overpaid player.

Barkely is a much better player historically, but when Draymond was on a team talented enough to make a title run he was never fat and out of shape like Barkley. If he had been able to stay in shape 96-97 we might have gotten a Hakeem vs Jordan finals

The year they lost to Cleveland he had career highs in points, rebounds, assists, FG%, 3 pt%, and I think he was a better defender than the following year when he won DMVP. As much as he wants to say that KD messed with their chemistry, KD helped them way more than Green did that whole run. Green is a good player, but he's a swiss army knife. He's a very good defender (no longer elite IMO), he's still a great facilitator on offense, but his shot is booty, he's never been great on the boards, not a guy teams have to gameplan around offensively, and basically just a good passing Robert Covington at this point with a penchant for saying and doing dumb shit. They always show those Olympic team practices, show me the whole scrimmage mfs.

If it wasn't for Draymond kicking LBJ and Barnes missing open shots, they wouldn't have needed KD. He can't talk out the side of his mouth that KD ruined team chemistry when facts are, when he plays, they win. I still don't think they need Draymond going forward, get a decent center and a 4 like Covington and they would be fine and be spending less money Those Olympic scrimmages are probably the stuff of legends. The amount of shit talking on that court would make Kevin Garnett blush

Dude changed up his body and as said those 2 years they first contended are his prime Also i'm not going to get on Chuck too much. While out of shape, he was still putting up the same mins but less points. Hakeen was the focus and they needed Chuck like 2 years before as he was hitting the end by then.

Chuck was 33 by the time he got to the Rockets and 35 by the time he was REALLY out of shape. He didn't show up there in horrible shape and actually looked a lot like he did in Phoenix. Once Pippen got there, he was a house. Lots of greats have aged poorly by then. Kemp, Webber, Brand, even Shaq near the end.

Did I just hear Larry Bird rap? Now I've seen everything. Looked and sounded like he wandered in off the Wrestlerock Rumble.
