it's edgey and kinda terrible but I don't hate the first design... maybe workshop it a lot more... but it could probably look better than what we got.
the "HARLEY" scar versions are terrible... (he at best considers her a possession... so that makes really no sense)
but overall I think the biggest problem is all of these including Leto's actual version all look people that'd be in Joker's gang or something... not Joker himself.

The thing is I do get what they were trying for with the Leto Joker, kind of trying to lean into the tendency of the Joker to see himself as a man of class while also trying to play up how trashy and out of touch with reality he is... but there were ways to do that that didn't involve making him look utterly goddamn stupid. Really the Ledger Joker hit that balance perfectly fine.
That said I don't think there was ever any version of Suicide Squad that was a good movie. It's just kind of too poorly written, too fundamentally broken, and too stupid (and not even in a charming way, more just an annoying one) for it to ever work no matter how you edited it.
And I certainly don't think the Ayer version would be any better because the more obviously serious stuff in the movie was generally when it was at its worst.

But it could be at least a more consistent movie, which would make it at least better. I still have no desire to see it. Edit. Especially if it contains more Leto. I am sure he is great in indie and drama roles but his mainstream stuff is junk.

David Ayer is "Mom, can we have some Michael Mann?" "We have Michael Mann at home, sweetie."

I'm in the camp of wanting to see an Ayer cut just to SEE IT.
Like, if he ever gets his wish, and he releases it and....it's....somehow....WORSE than the original cut the dude has just nuked his own career.
But I genuinely want to see a fleshed out story and what exactly was his vision of Joker was, seeing as how it's been reported they shot so much footage it could be its own movie. I didn't care for Leto's portrayal, but I'm intrigued.
Not excited, or anxiously waiting it, but definitely a sense of morbid curiosity on a man betting what cred he has left on it.

Yes, I hope it's like the Snyder cut, over an hour longer, 60-70 million extra, edgelordy as hell and still no better than the original.

I just don't like Jared Leto. As an actor or as a person. "More Jared Leto" is a good way of ensuring I don't watch it even if it gets made.

Why are these people so insistent on getting special editions of their sucky movies made? It flopped once, what makes you think it won't again? They like the online sycophants.

I think it'd be better if we just did a Will Smith Deadshot movie with Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn again. Those are about the only two aspects of Suicide Squad I liked. A longer cut is just going to be more Joker scenes and I cannot describe how much I hated Jared Leto's tryhard Joker. Soundtrack was cool too, do more of that.Well, except for "Heathens." I really do not like that song. I saw someone seriously tried to blame the whitewashing of Harley and Joker's abusive relationship on the theatrical cut of Suicide Squad, and that the Ayer Cut would make people see the light. Like, people have been whitewashing Joker's abuse of Harley since the days of B:TAS even when the work was blatantly pointing it out. It certainly didn't start with that crappy movie. I remember how back in 2016, there were a lot of memes on social media with Joker and Harley Quinn (Well, Harleen Quinzel before she became Harley Quinn) and how they romanticized them as "relationship goals." That was stupid.

I mean the fact they both end up dead at the end should probably have sold that >_>

I want to see a Joker where they get away from this force of nature agent of chaos insanity portrayal. I want him to be a criminal who went crazy but just enough to make him unpredictable enough to flummox Batman. Still a human with human emotions like greed and love.
And his relationship with Harley could be somewhat violent and problematic. They are bad guys after all, not people to emulate. But she could give as well as she gets. And they do love each other.
Basically like a criminal version of the couple from Adam Sandlers "Crazy Love".
