So again they're remaking the first games to regain some momentum just for the franchise to crash and burn when they actually try to do a new one afterward?

Yeah between this, Tony Hawk HD, and Tony Hawk 2x, we up to know three compilations of the first two games now? Would having the first four games in one collection be that hard to do?

So I was going to be all “Yeah, this happened before, not sure why this is being announced again”.
And then I found out Vicarious Visions were doing it and, you know what? Considering the stellar job they did with the Crash games? Have at it, guys.

Wow, this looks dope. I'm in day one. I haven't been hyped for a Tony Hawk game since Underground but after seeing this? You got me. And like stated Vicarious Visions are doing it. They did the Crash Trilogy remake, they did the Crash Racing Nitro remake, they'll do this damn justice.
According to what Tony Hawk said in that Summer Gamesfest interview just now this is just the starting point given he knows people really care about those first 4 games. Sounds like if this does well we'll get 3 and 4 next.

Yeah, Vicarious Visions has a solid track record so far with remakes so I'm cool with it. And it looks like a fun time. I wonder if this is their model, making remakes and then if it works out, do something new.
That said, some of the physics in N. Sane Trilogy was sketchy so I hope they've improved on this, especially for a skateboarding game.

Vicarious Visions was the studio that made the GBA ports of the original Tony Hawk games, so I have faith in them.

hope they add the Revert moves from 3+ cause otherwise making a vertical skater is massively nerfed compared to street skaters. edit: saw that after I posted. Good... cause like I said the only way to get points is to combo your ass off... and in 1+2 it is literally impossible to do any combos after doing a move off a pipe.

Give me Underground remasters instead, you cowards. Yeah Underground was mad dope. Eric is in my top 5 villains ever. my favorite part of that is if you play throguh the story twice... instead of the big elaborate skate route... you just punch him in teh face and take your tape instead...

VV did a mostly great job with the Crash games and Activision has started putting effort into its old franchises again with Crash and Spyro that I’m optimistic for this one. The original Tony Hawk games were also too hard for kid me to want to learn to play, so it’s exciting to finally get the chance.

TBH I'm shocked this happened since Tony and Activision seemed to be on the outs and Activision outright lost the license to Tony Hawk games in either 2017 or 2018. Guess they made nice-nice.
The big upside about this is that Robomodo no longer exists to f*** this up beyond all repair. And Vicarious Visions is a mostly competent developer. That said, we also haven't had a good THPS game (including an awful HD remaster of the original game) in about 15 years, if not longer, so I'm at a "I'll believe it when I see it" point of skepticism about this being any good. I also wouldn't put it past Activision to do something Activision-y like put in lootboxes to unlock new decks or skaters.

I don't remember anything about it other than trying to bring it back to slightly more realistic from THUG (especially 2) and Wasteland's over the top story. But yeah Tony Hawk "5" was garbage rushed out to make whatever money they could before the license ran out... and before that Tony Hawk Ride was a cheap cash in attempt to try and emulate Rock Band that was never going to work (and holy shit there was a sequel to that game?)
