So my mother wouldn't take no for an answer and buzzed my hair today. She washed her hands and had a masked but I'm still worried. Am I overreacting?

Yes. It will grow back soon. Lol. So I guess I am a bit paranoid then? Well I am a little concerned that your mother shaved your head against your will.

Disney and Universal will present reopening dates to the Orange County Task Force tomorrow. From the sound of it the Task Force wants the dates from theme parks.

I wonder if Governor DeSantis could go one press conference without media bashing. He and his people are spinning the hell out of the fact we didn’t get overwhelmed with cases as it being a case of the media overreacting instead of the stay at home being successful. Then we had a big jump in new cases yesterday and the entire state went into Phase 1 this week. Let’s see if the numbers (hopefully) stay low. If not I hope he’s willing to eat crow and admit he was wrong but I doubt that happens.

We need to rethink the whole concept of care homes here in the UK. The idea of placing vulnerable, elderly people together in proximity is just tailor made for a virus to carry out a geronticide. It might make more sense for the government to offer financial and professional care support to families with elderly relatives in their household. It's just one of many areas of social and economic policy that needs root and branch reform in a post virus Britain.

We gonna just....not talk about what's going on with the hydroxychloroquine now? There's a full on information war taking place on a drug that can straight up kill you at worst, and probably do jack all at best.
I hate this. This shit makes me feel so helpless against a massive tidal wave of utter f***ing stupidity.

Shops and barbers open tomorrow, which is neat. I just really hope there's still restrictions and this is all played smart.
Still no new cases here, 500+ more negative cases on PEI.

There was a story going around yesterday that the president and his family have a tiny financial stake in the company that produces the drug. I don’t think they own enough stock for it to be a huge scandal, but it still comes off sketchy. (It was front page news for about an hour.)

My County is ready for phase 1 but we are waiting for 5 other counties to reach the benchmark. Sounds like it should be soon.

If not I hope he’s willing to eat crow and admit he was wrong but I doubt that happens. There is exactly 0.000001% chance that he will admit to any failure. He is also not alone in being incapable of admitting any shortcomings, which is problematic as responding to and mitigating one's own shortcomings is a vital part of having any sort of authority. The failure to do so can be catastrophic. This is the reason this pandemic scares me; way too many people like him are in positions of power, meaning our ability to adapt and respond to such things are severely limited at this time. Let me be abundantly clear; I don't care if he screwed up. Screw ups happen. What I do care about is the refusal to admit to those screw ups, especially when refusing to do so leads to other people dying. That is abhorrent.

This shit makes me feel so helpless against a massive tidal wave of utter f***ing stupidity. At this point, what is there to say? I had serious reservations about the drug from the start after spending 3 minutes reading the study that got everyone so excited (the patients that responded well also were given Vitamin D supplements, which now appears to possibly be helpful against this virus). The FDA and all responsible scientists were initially only cautiously optimistic from the start and outright rejected it as later studies came out. That should have been the end of it. It has not been. Instead, the drug has the loudest advocate possible for it. He encourages the country to ignore the experts. He fires experts in the government that won't support his advocacy of the drug. He bullies those that have not been fired to change their stances on it. He prompts people to start hoarding the stuff, creating a shortage for those people who have to take the drug for legitimate, research-proven reasons (I know someone who has been forced to ration his supply of it for his condition because of this, so if I sound pissed about this then you can believe me when I say that I am, in fact, pissed).

My wife works with elderly often and I’ve had family members in long term care facilities. The staff works hard but the building always smells like shit, and more often than not it’s either old people sitting in the hallway or lying in bed. This should concern us all not because of our loved ones alone but there a good chance (god willing) well all be elderly one day. I think there has to be a more dignified way to go out than having a nursing home take all your savings while waiting for you to die .
