Welp, my wife's sister tested positive, so we are officially quarantined for two weeks. I'm so pissed at myself and her for being so careless. I've been extra careful and then f***ed up and let her come over. She wasn't coughing and didn't have a fever when she was here, so I'm hoping that means she wasn't as contagious. Probably not, but it makes me feel a little better. I also take a little solace in the fact that we cleaned after she left and neither of us were that close to her. Still sucks that now we just wait and see if we're f***ed or not. Our area is doing horrible on testing, so even if we could be tested, it would likely be too late once it finally came back. I emailed my principal to let her know and I could tell she was pissed at me. I got, "Well, great. You have to be out 14 days and must stay away from the school or risk termination. It's also your responsibility to find your own sub. Have a great quarantine." in response. So to say I feel the love and concern there is an understatement. So now I find myself in a position where I can't find a sub because no one wants to go near a school. Why in the f***ing hell is it YOUR responsibility to find a sub during a pandemic? That is something that the school should line up.

I suspect another full nationwide lockdown is not too far away.

I suspect another full nationwide lockdown is not too far away. It’s like as though asking everyone to eat out, go back to work and send their kids back to school when the virus hadn’t been properly suppressed yet was a bad idea. Who knew?

Well, my company has just announced up to 6,000 redundancies and the likelihood of cuts in hours for the remaining 80% of the workforce.
I'm hoping to be one of the lucky ones - I work in a hotel that has been full since reopening, in an area of the country that attracts a lot of tourists, and I work in a department that is already on minimal spend and cannot be cut further without compromising the company's safety and security standards.

So people going back to work is a bad idea? Making money, trying to be finacially stable is a bad idea? So what are people suppost to do exactlly, stay at home until.....??.

In Ireland, our cases are in the 200-300s and we’re collectively freaking the f*** out. Dublin is two stages away from a full on lockdown and “Wet” Pubs haven’t been open here since March. People are mostly still working from home and can now only have one person from another household in their home but, again, our rates are still enough to do more to stop all this. In the UK, daily cases are still in the thousands. Telling people to travel into work on potentially packed public transport, eat out in practically packed pubs and restaurants and go back to school when the messaging has been all over the place and there seems to be one rule for politicians and one for everyone else is insane, to be quite frank. Oh, and then blaming the public for all this happening which...how f***ing dare they?

Doesn't matter what the reason, the district tells us it's our responsibility.

No new cases here, and all recent cases have recovered.
So far, PEI has had 57 cases, all recovered. No serious or death. No community spread.

I work in IT for a company on the southern IL/IN border and thankfully we have been largely unaffected by the spread and quarantine situation until recently since IT is a pretty hands off job...I say until recently because my family of 5 (wife, myself, and 3 kids) got locked down over the weekend...Our middle daughter and my wife went to the walk in clinic due to fever and sore throats and tested positive for strep and were also given covid tests so it not only prompted us all to have to get strep tests (5 out of 5 of us have it) it made it to where i cannot return to the office. Covid tests around this area are taking about a week or so to get back. We can work from home very easily in IT but it still changes things tremendously in a small town environment and is a bit frustrating that I am required to work from home while sick just because the option is there.

I believe the US Government at a federal and certain states have already started getting in the herding mode.
Just my 2 cents with back and forth news from said government coming out everyday and who is in charge (federally) and leading those states.

In Irish Parliament today, our ministers spent an hour discussing whether there was enough time to talk about new Living with COVID restrictions.
One. Whole. Hour.
I weep for this country, I swear.

Just my 2 cents with back and forth news from said government coming out everyday and who is in charge (federally) and leading those states. There were multiple reports over the months (that Trump did not refute when asked) that Trump wanted to go with herd immunity all along and had to get talked out of it REPEATEDLY because it meant that millions would die as a result (those are the reports of millions of lives saved that he likes to quote).

Five people in group homes in my county have passed away in the last 24 hours, and one is from the homes my great aunt is currently living in, and they're reportedly experiencing an outbreak. Oof.

Our government has handled this in the dumbest ways possible, so this makes sense. Without throwing politics into this, I genuinely believe that, if the same government officials stay in place, we're in trouble. I say that because right now most of the government (federal, state, and local) have just thrown their hands over their eyes and are pretending like this thing isn't happening anymore.

Better question, why are you beating yourself up for just living life? Seriously, shit happens, relax and take it day by day. A lot of people have gotten it and gotten out. Not your fault that shit just kinda happens.

I may be a cog in the machine but at least make me feel like you think I’m an important cog in the machine that you value in some meaningful way. He’s to deal with the decision makers in his career making it plainly evident that they value none of their employees AT ALL. Like, not even in the slightest. I watched my wife go through similar realizations at her workplace and they are soul crushing. It sounds like he’s got it worse by also having to deal with dickwad parents who are also taking their pandemic frustrations out on teachers. Seriously, my heart goes out to the guy.

Nope...nothing wrong with getting back to work and going out...as long as people aren’t being irresponsible assholes about it. Problem is that’s apparently asking way too much of some people...and that’s been the case way before Covid. Can’t count the number of people that just come out to the dinner or bar sick with colds or worse on a regular basis and we trust them to be honest if they have a fever to stay home.

Also, and this needs to be said again, if you launch schemes that involve getting people back to work, having them go out to eat and also open all the pubs without real guidelines or ways to monitor said guidelines along with opening schools without real guidelines, you pretty much have zero right to then blame the public for cases going up. For all the concerns about cases going up in Europe, even Italy hasn’t had as many cases as it used to because they didn’t try and open up everything to “save the economy” without proper restrictions and test and trace services. The UK’s track and trace is shit.

Not your fault that shit just kinda happens. I'm hard on myself because I have pretty bad asthma, so if I get this, I'm in the high-risk category. I also don't want to accidentally expose anyone else to this garbage if I happen to get it without knowing. Truthfully, I'm more pissed at my sister-in-law at this point. Certainly now that I've found out she knew she was sick when she came over and didn't say anything because she knew we'd tell her to stay away.
