Played a couple hours. Really fun abeit me getting my ass handed to me on more than a few occasions. I feel like in the early portion, block block STAB is the way to go. Also... This game is somewhat ruined for me because of this.

I really like this game after spending more time with it. The camera has been really bad for me in combat for me and a couple other people I know who are playing it, but the combat is so fun and satisfying even despite that. Hopefully that can be adjusted with a patch. One other thing I noticed is that a lot of things aren’t subtitled when playing in Japanese, like some of Jin’s monologues after praying, when riding his horse, etc, as well as all NPC conversations (conversations as in when they’re talking among themselves, not when Jin talks to an NPC.) . Not sure if it’s a glitch or what. I speak the language so it doesn’t affect me much but I can see that being kind of a drag for other people.
Other than that though, it’s a blast. This is the first open world game in ages that I’ve actually wanted to explore and it doesn’t fee like it’s big just for the sake of it. I’m getting Witcher 3 vibes from it in terms of how good the world is and how much I enjoy the quests and just walking around, and that’s not faint praise.

The initial high point I was having with this game has faded and now I’m getting Days Gone flashbacks, except days gone’s motorcycle made travel a bit better, and the writing was better. I’m maybe a third done with everything but I already feel burnt out and like the game has shown me everything it has to offer.

Idk, I haven't even done 4 main storyline missions and i'm still having fun knowing I got on of space to cover plus more weapons to get
Just like The Witcher or Red Dead, the world is really easy to immerse yourself in. Once you travel to a location it is automatically fast travel unlocked so going back is a breeze. It pays to explore the map besides the obvious skill points

I went into this prepared to go for mainly a stealth-oriented approach, but thus far, I’ve mainly been going for the pure Samurai experience of just going in and wrecking shit with parries and combos (my go-to move has been doing a parry followed into a Heavenly Strike, since it reminds me of the Deflect Critical attack in the Onimusha series).

Been playing this pretty much non-stop since Friday, absolutely love it so far. It's basically Ass Creed Japan in terms of mechanics and structure, with dashes of Horizon Zero Dawn's world design, Okami's aesthetic and Witcher 3's side quests (to an extent, anyway). With the exception of the standoff mechanic it doesn't do anything new, but it refines those preexisting elements into an incredibly engrossing whole.

I’ve hit my stride in combat and I feel like an unstoppable killing machine. It’s great.

Just got the game on Sunday, having a lot of fun with it. But it made me notice something:
Why is Sucker Punch the only developer who actually utilizes the PS4's touch pad? inFAMOUS: Second Son was the big PS4 launch title they used to advertise the feature, then everybody just used it as a button, and now Ghost of Tsushima uses it.

I’ve hit my stride in combat and I feel like an unstoppable killing machine. It’s great. Yeah, when you get in the flow of combat, you really get the feeling that you're a living weapon. Also why I'm playing on Hard difficulty, so I feel like I'm getting the most out of the combat system.

Finally getting the hang of Ghost of Tsushima's Photo Mode a bit, doing a bit of a basic panning shot. And again...this game is gorgeous. This is just the base video, no touch-ups:

I keep losing the bridge standoff (second one, the first gave me prompts) no matter what.
What am I doing wrong?

The standoff enemy strikes really fast, so I can't get the timing down like in the first, which actually prompted me to release the triangle button.

Wait until the enemy raises his weapon to strike then release triangle. Later in the game you'll have to watch them for fake attacks to get you to strike first, but this early in the game you're just learning their pattern I think.

Jesus H Christ {Spoiler}{Spoiler} Ryuzo absolutely handed my ass to myself on a silver platter. I played this battle dying over and over and over again because I refused to take it off hard. After a half hour, with me getting him to 50% only one single time, I finally gave in. Beat him first try on medium. I’m pretty sure I didn’t just magically get lucky my first go on medium. The one-on-one duel difficulty between it and hard is insane.

I’m finally getting some time to play this, and I’m kind of annoyed that I preordered the special edition, but apparently it only comes with a mask, sword, and charm, but not the hero armor.

The digital deluxe and the special edition cost the same, but the digital deluxe comes with the armor and an extra horse, and the special edition comes with a steelbook case.

The reviews are great for this and it looks wonderful but I’m so over open world games... I wonder if I’d still dig this

I managed to win the standoff, but only by sheer luck. Unless the white bar I saw above him was the indicator, that guy's still too fast.
