The WWE Network have launched their free tier, stating that there are 15,000 available titles free to watch. If you don't see a padlock next to the event, it's free to watch.
All recent TV shows are available, as are selected PPVs and Network series. RAW Talk is being relaunched, and that will be free too.
I stopped subscribing during the COVID-19 releases, so this is a decent compromise, even if a lot of the stuff I would watch remains behind the paywall.

Seems like the only free PPVs are...
WrestleMania 31 to 35 Royal Rumble 2015 and 2019 Backlash 2008, 2009, 2016-2018

How far back do the recent new episodes of Raw/Smackdown/NXT go? Raw/SD: The 9 most recent episodes on the Network are free. NXT: March/April 2020 episodes are free, but May 2020 is behind the paywall.

So if you're only interested in the library and not getting a crappy episode of sunday night Raw once a month then there's no point in paying for the network.
Genius move, unless the plan is to use it to collect data on their audience and to sell adverts on it.

Almost everything on the Network before 2020 is not included on the free tier and quite a bit of 2020 content isn't available, either. watch.wwe.com Browse while not logged in to see what's free and what isn't.

at least some of what I have on my watch list is available, but this is really barebones especially compared to the other free tier they launched a while back

So does this mean the new more expensive mega tier will be unveiled soon? I am intrigued to see what possible content they could include to entice people to upgrade.

I wouldn't say mega expensive tier but the free tier being available is one of the least surprising thing WWE have done because when the updated the UI they kept taking about tiers. I'm just shocked it's taken them this long to actually do it. The trick now for wwe is if they do go above the one paid tier they have, exactly what move will they offer besides everything we get now ?

Maybe one way that wouldn’t piss off their members would be if they’d split The classic and current content into two separate memberships where it’s cheaper to have just one but still a profit for the company if people still wanted both Or an Indie channel where they use their partner promotions

The (new) Free Tier is basically a few shows and a bunch of random matches.
So... the YouTube channel. Again.

Question: Free tier gets recent Raws and Smackdowns, how do you get those if you're already a subscriber? Because the last Raw I can watch is apparently from mid May.

Raw and Smackdown episodes are added to the Network 30 days after they air. WWE's TV contracts prevent them from putting them up on the Network any sooner than that.
