Takeshi Morishima Necro Butcher Larry Sweeney (RIP) Jimmy Jacobs I thought all of these would be in WWE eventually I never thought Necro had a snowball's chance in hell of making it to WWE. He was like a modern day Brody, Abdullah or even New Jack. There was no way he'd ever be able to conform to Vince's ways and if he did it wouldn't have been the same guy. Jacobs is another guy I never saw in WWE beyond an enhancement talent. Not because he wasn't a great worker but do to his lack of size. At least he made it there as a writer until he willingly ended that for himself lol

This is just a nostalgia based fun thread. Let’s just list and talk about some old indie faves I broke out some old ROH dvds while I was moving. Watching “Redemption” from 2005. Opening match was Delirious and Sterling James Keenan who both went on to be important. Then we’ve got Matt Stryker who was good but charisma impaired. He apparently retired in 2005. In a similar vein I found out Chad Collyer is a magician. I mostly couldn’t believe Daizee Haze has been retired for 9 years. I always enjoyed her. I remember her most honestly as part of the BDK in Chikara which I loved. What's Daizee Haze been up to? I remember thinking she looked like a mini Trish Stratus around the mid 2000's. I thought she was great and really cute. Then the last time I saw her about 10 years ago she looked painfully thin and unhealthy. I read rumors that she was on drugs and that would have been easy to believe with her appearance. Hopefully she is doing better now.

Sylk Wagner Brown and April Hunter seemed like they could have been WWE bound at some point. Until Brown turned out to be a massive piece of shit and beat the hell out of April and I think Brown was basically black balled from wrestling after that. I still can't believe a woman as beautiful as April never got a shot in WWE. She was around 10-15 years too soon I guess.

Human Tornado was a lot of fun in PWG and ROH. Larry Sweeney <3. Alex Koslov was a good mid 00s Russian heel. Loved his work in CMLL. Scott Lost also in PWG. Lacey and Jimmy Jacob's emo music video for her. Very early viral online wrestling video stuff. Before the internet heel turn. Human Tornado is back. I saw him at an indy show in Vegas the night before Double or Nothing 2019. According to a friend that I bumped into there Tornado has been back active since 2018. Also not sure if you saw Jacobs final ROH appearance but it was great. Jacobs and Lacey finally rode off into the sunset together with the Ballad of Lacey playing in the background. Absolutely perfect way for his ROH career to end.

I remember him getting quite a lot of attention from the insider magazines around 1999/2000. After WCW's demise he became a regular in NOAH for a number of years and promoted Pro Wrestling IRON. It appears he's still around on the California and Nevada independent scene, but is mostly a trainer now. Had he been five or ten years younger he might have had a decent run in ROH in the 2000s.
2000s ROH is a goldmine for independent wrestlers who drifted into relative obscurity; Jimmy Rave, Xavier, the Amazing Red, Dan Maff, the SAT, I could go on.
Dan Maff is back in ROH Xavier was scheduled for the ROH Past vs. Present show back in March. I had tickets to that show and Anniversary, I was really looking forward to that event. Damn you Coronavirus.☹ Also Amazing Red wrestled a few shows for NJPW last year. He was a guy I never thought I'd get to see live and was very happy to see him 2 times last year for NJPW. I hope he sticks around if his body can hold up. Such a pioneer that doesn't get his due.

Some more I just thought of...
The Ring Crew Express, Dunn and Marcos. I loved their gimmick and name.
The Outkast Killas
Everyone in Special K except some guy named Hydro that apparantly did alright for himself lol.
Homicide's old tag partner, Boogalou
The guy in Da Hit Squad that wasn't Maff. I seriously don't know why Da Hit Squad never got a shot in WWE. They had the Vince look and could work. Instead WWE created their own lame version of DHS called 3 Minute Warning that were nowhere near as good as the original.

He ended up marrying Chris Adams daughter (Steve Austins adopted daughter) Jade Adams I believe. He turned up in the UK again about 6 years ago to some kind of benefit show in Coventry which was hailed as something of a homecoming for the (and I quote) former WWE, WCW and TNA star. Yeah, I find it strange that someone who I think was supposed to be (kayfabe) something in line to the throne - presumably he came just after the corgis - was billed from Coventry. Anyone who's been there, or indeed who hasn't been there, knows this is hardly the place from which you would want to bill an aristocratic character. Suppose you could say the same about a certain 'Lord' and Blackpool.

She posted for a few men's magazines. Sylk is still around. Was working for NECW as of last year IIRC.

Trent Acid - I think he would have been a huge star if he hadn’t passed away. RIP. Guy had it all. Great in ring and tons of charisma Others not mentioned: Donovan Morgan Ballard Brothers B-Boy Sonny Siaki Damien Steele Yeah Acid and Johnny Kashmere as the Backseat Boys were great. But Acid's drug issue and Kashmere being... well Johnny Kashmere held them back. Morgan is a good one. He and Michael Modest looked like they would be early breakout stars for ROH but due to their commitments in Japan they stopped taking ROH bookings. Not sure what happened to the Ballard Bros but they were one of those teams of the early 2000s that you heard a lot about out west when the Cali scene was not that big but they never got to the east coast B-Boy is still around but is his own worst enemy. Dude is supposedly flaky as hell. Siaki donated his kidney to his brother and retired. Dont remember him being great but he did have a lot of hype. I dont know if he ever mentally recovered after Candido's injury Damien Steele is a good one.

When April was at her peak in the mid-2000s was the height of the Johnny Ace, we only hire Playboy models era of WWE. Which makes even less sense why April didn't get hired back then. People are still booking Sylk?! It's absurd that promoters still book pieces of shit like Sylk and Chasyn Rance.

What issues did Kashmere have? The Ballard Brothers were still active on the Bay Area indy scene as of last year.

Rance is such an odd case. Cause appears he never gets booked outside a few tiny indies in FL anymore. But pretty much wrestling and the indie version are sleazy. There is a few feds in MS and LA that use a guy that was caught stealing money ,used a company check,to pay for escorts to come see him at work multiple times. Dude was "blackballed and will never work again." less than 2 years later he is getting booked again under the same name, which happens to be his real name.

Since Treat Acid's name has come up so many times on this thread I'm wondering if somebody here can help me out. Around 2005 or 2006 in ROH, Acid was doing a losing streak gimmick and wrestling in street clothes or something like that. Does anybody remember how this angle played out? Did it lead to anything? I wasn't sure if it was like the current Jeff Hardy angle or the Hawk or Scott Hall angles in the past where the company played off a guy's well-known real life issues.

Especially at the Indy level. I fully expect Rory Gulack to continue getting booked. f*** Rory Gulak. Since you mentioned a blackballed wrestler and his name has come up a few times in this thread also, does anybody know why Homicide had Dan Maff blackballed from wrestling back in the mid-to-late 2000's? Obviously Maff is back in everybody's good graces now but the dude was persona non grata for several years.

There are a lot of rumors out there but I think its more he just wasn't an easy guy to get along with or like... i think he also held up companies for money or tried to. I also heard that Zandig blamed Kashmere for Trent's drug issues. I am pretty sure Acid was related to Zandig in some way so to him he felt Kashmere was messing with his family As for Homicide and Danny Maff. I think Maff got involved with one of Homicide's family members... it was never quite clear

Surprised Ruckus never got much attention outside of a short stint in ROH.... always remember being very impressed with him the few times I saw him working some CZW shows. He’s only 41 now.... thought for sure he’d have been a perfect fit for the X-Division around 2004-07.

Was having a conversation about XPW with a mate recently and The Messiah and Kaos both came up as names that were better than most of XPW's homegrown talent. Like Adam Windsor, XPW got a lot of coverage for some reason in WOW Magazine so a lot of their wrestlers got more exposure than the arguably deserved, but Messiah and Kaos might have been the exceptions.
