My far too early and far too confident pick to win it all: Shingo

Honma vs Hiromu will be emotional Nagata vs Suzuki is always reliable ZSJ vs Kota and Tana vs Taichi will be fun to revisit. Perhaps the Tekkers challenge at Dominion? Okada vs Gedo will be super satisfying, no doubt SHO vs Shingo could very well be the best match of the first round As said in the other thread though, Ishii vs Despy!!!!

With the non-Japan-based guys (White, Ospreay and most of Bullet Club) out of the picture, this gives a shot to some of the Young Lions/Jr. heavyweight guys who wouldn’t normally have this opportunity, so that’s cool.

The final is on July 11th, with the winner getting the shot at Naito on July 12th. Those Osaka shows I believe will be their first with fans, at 1/3rd capacity.

Predictions: Makabe/Ishii/Yano/Hiromu Okada/Suzuki/Nobu/Ishimori Tana/ZSJ/SANADA/Shingo YOSHI/YOH/EVIL/Goto Ishii/Hiromu Okada/Nobu (still undefeated against Ishimori) ZSJ/Shingo YOH/Goto Ishii/Okada Shingo/Goto Okada def. Shingo Though I question having Okada win back-to-back, and having him face Naito again so soon. The good news is we could see a few awesome Shingo matches, unless they give SHO the upset and title match at Dominion.

It'll be interesting. I seriously doubt they'd have Naito lose the title anytime soon, much less both, and without a crowd, but I hope we get a unique title challenge, be it someone he's never faced at a high level, or someone who otherwise would never get this kind of chance.

Either Shingo or Time Bomb is winning this. I'm predicting Despy to be the tournament MVP.
Okada vs. Gedo should be hilarious.

I'm excited to read that the are planning to have fans in attendance on the 11 and 12 July shows. Will definitely re-subscribe in July. That's my plan too. With the way NJPW World sets their billing period I'm back 1st July. Can't wait.

That'll be an interesting decision: do they use the chaotic times to create a less expected match, or do they go with a tried and true main eventer so they're basically assured the winner and Naito having a real "NJPW is back, for real!" kind of main event? Plus a lot of the story and character arc ideas that might've influenced my choices back when the tournament was first announced might or might not be a bit out the window now, so that throws another wrench into things; we shall see. EDIT: As for current predictions, I'll say that Hiromu wins his bracket, Okada takes his, Shingo the next (toughest quadrant, for sure), and EVIL in the last one. Hard not to pick Okada in any situation, but something in my head is telling me they'll go through with Hiromu vs. Naito and have Takahashi be the surprise winner...but I could be 100% wrong, and i've learned over the years to know better than to try and think I can fully predict Gedo tournament booking. Though...what if Gedo did something ultra nefarious and cheated to beat Okada, only to back up directly into Minoru Suzuki? I'd want to see that for the GIF-worthy reaction alone.

Yes!
Some of the matches don't look too exciting, but I'm glad to have NJPW back!
And ZSJ vs Ibushi sounds awesome. They've probably faced each other before, but I personally didn't see it.

Notice this just now, this might technically be Gabriel Kidd’s NJPW main show debut (outside of dying by the hands of Lance Archer). If so, good on him.

The shows will be empty arena except for the Finals and Dominion, with fans allowed at 1/3 capacity due to guidelines
