One of my callers spelt her surname out for me as J-A-double R-E-double-T.

Someone posted a picture on reddit of a cat bed shaped like a coffin they had made for Halloween, and the cat seems to really like it.
A little too soon IMO (31 days of October isn't enough?) but it made me awwww.

Going to a practically deserted beach today on the first of three days off. Glorious weather for England in late September, and I also had the pleasure of my eight month old puppy listening to me (training is paying off!) and seeing him swim for the first time.

It's my grandmother's birthday today. She turns 98. If I ever reach that age, I hope I'm as mentally sharp as she is.

Discovering and enjoying a new brand of ale. Banter with friends.
My partner finally removing the roof rack from the car.
Lewis Hamilton not winning the Russian Grand Prix due to receiving a penalty and slightly pouting about it.
Further progress with the side quests and challenges on Red Dead Redemption 2.

My 7 year old niece called me this morning pretending to be a pizza owner...with a British accent.

The tasty baked potato for dinner was crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside.

My cat is asleep on my lap, and his little face looks SO HAPPY. He's chasing mice in his dreams.

A potentially hellish day at work turned out to not be hellish after all.

I found a song on Spotify - Cries and Whispers by New Order - after not seeing it on there before and not hearing it for ages.

I got a new job, bad news is I have to go to Cincinnati for the training. Fortunately all expenses are covered for me, I'm just not looking forward to driving 9 hours. After training I'll be more local, so this is just a one time trip.
But hey I got a new job!

Three paycheck month + Prime Day= new space heater, new apartment decorations, some new clothes, headphones, etc.
Also was in and out for voting in about ten minutes, no one was bitching about having to wear a mask, and everyone maintained a respectful distance in line.

Local news: back in June this year, a local drug thug/perennial criminal set a fire in the local Wal-Mart. Don't know if he was just high or trying to cover up some other crime, but the store was open at the time. Caught on surveillance cameras, arrested soon after.
This week, the judge threw out all attempts to plead guilty. Judge noted that the criminal was trying to plead to avoid any accountability for his crime... so now if he's found guilty he will face actual repercussions for setting a fire that could have killed people (among other drug- and firearm-related charges).
That made me smile.
(Fun fact: The people who first found the fire and alerted everyone were teenagers dressed as Scooby Doo characters... and even had a van painted like the Mystery Machine)
