After it being out of action for a while due to being surrounded by clutter, I got my turntable set up again and spun a few records I hadn't yet had a chance to listen to. I miss having my record player. But at my house I never could really use it. I was always having to listen to it using earphones. And if I'm having to use earphones, and add in the hearing damage I got,I will just stick to CDs and MP3s. So few years ago I took my turntable and set it up at my lady's apartment. She uses it all the time. And I keep most of my records over there. Not that I have many anymore. I sold off most of them a few years ago. The only ones I kept are either stuff I have had since I was fairly young. Or stuff I know that if I ever want to replace it it wouldn't be cheap. But with her getting into records I have learned that early to mid 90s r&b,Pop and rap records are not easy to find. And when you do they ain't cheap. Took me almost 3 years to find her a copy of the House Party soundtrack. And still haven't found her the Blackstreet album she wants. Yeah, there's a lot of stuff from that era that's very scarce. There are a few LPs from the nineties and early noughties that I would love to own but they've not been pressed in twenty plus years, and the copies that do exist command huge prices. I know a lot of hip hop is hard to come by because of the licensing issue with samples used in it, and there are quite a lot of major label artists from that era who don't own their own publishing rights, but to a large extent I think it's just because vinyl was considered a dead format.
I've always loved physical media though, when I was a teenager I used to buy a lot of CDs when people were crossing over to digital (even though I never really liked CDs that much, I hated the cases) and when I stopped buying them I moved over to vinyl because the whole experience of buying a record and the act of listening to it, and having the sleeve art and the liner notes and whatever else, is all part of the enjoyment. The cost and inconvenience of vinyl means I'll never give up digital music, though.

I finally got out to the property we “inherited” in Pahrump. (Long story why I put that in quotes). Most everything in the place has been either stolen or trashed. All I found of any value was a milk crate of records and CDs, some cut glass bowls, half a set of china plates, a few small porcelain knickknacks, and an old but complete charcoal meat smoker. Basically our first step in cleaning the property up and seeing if we can sell it. Spending two days in 100+ degree heat may not seem like fun but it is nice to get out anywhere after all this time.

Just finished a fic I'd been writing slowly on for about the last two months. 15K words long. Proofread it and sent it along to my best friend and she said I always make writing look so effortless. Not bad, haha.

Finally got to go to a concert for the first time since March of last year. Saw a lot of friends, screamed and danced around to the music, had a great time! I'm sore now, but it's that exhilarating kind of sore! God, I've missed this!

Spent close to an hour this morning figuring out how to film the video my father wanted to make. Last year in October he started up a YT channel. And with him going on a 2 week fishing trip on July 5th we wanted to film a bunch in advance.
He decided he wanted to have our dog do a fashion show. Now Maggie, short for Maggot Ass,is a loveable dog. But not that bright. So the only way to get it to work was to have her tempted by treats.
But the time spent prepping and filming was worth it cause I know how much he enjoys doing it.

I was in town getting groceries and stuff for the wrestling party I'm throwing on the 4th. I had just loaded everything up in my car when I saw an elderly lady a few cars past mine struggling to shove her buggy to her car. This buggy was loaded down with piles of bottled water and soda. I was about to go over and ask her if she needed help. When I saw 2 teens, couldn't have been older than 14 walk over ask her if she needed help. Then not only pushed the buggy to her car but loaded all the stuff into her car.
I might be generalizing but locally I never seen younger people offering to help the elderly. Made me smile to see the two teens do that.
