Loved both rounds and there wasn't a song that I disliked in either group. My daughter just had her first birthday and it was basically a birthday week, so I'm catching up on stuff here now. For Round 12, I chose Symphonie Fantastique- 5th Mvt. and Monster to receive my bonus points. The Berlioz suite was just unlike anything else chosen in the game so far and probably in my top 5 or so. Breathtaking scale, the use of the bells was massive, and the build throughout was unbelievable. Huge risk that I wish paid off more in terms of points. I dabbled in classical music when I played in Idol but Jazzman just knows so much more about it than me. Fit the round theme perfectly. The Gaga song was subversive as hell and, like all her best tunes, posits a bizarre stance on typical pop themes while using pop standards perfectly. It's perfect pop that also comments on pop and it had just enough to it to be a bit spooky. Host was just jaw-dropping in beauty that then became the strangest, most sinister sounding song of the round. I loved Eat You's jazzy swing sound and it was another clever take on the round theme. The Type O Negative cover was exactly what you'd expect from them. I love that album and it was another great choice. I wish I could have bumped Season of the Witch up more because it's of classic song. Round 13 truly impressed me and it's probably top 5 in terms of Rounds so far. On my team, I loved the Since You Were Gone cover. It transformed the song: it was fun, had a earworm beat, and the vocals were very strong. I also marked out for Poor Unfortunate Soul, which was a marvelous play on the round's theme. Titus Burgess has such amazing presence and I found his voice enthralling. Jesse's Girl might be the best response to a round theme all season, and the performance completely transformed the song. The perspective switch gave it a whole new level of emotion and the music lived up to the switch up. Creep, with the bilingual vocals, was sensation and the piano thumping mimicked the guitar riffs from the original. It's tough to add more to Creep since it's been covered so many times but I think this was a fantastic cover. Moon River took me a bit to grasp but I ended up loving it. It's strange but beautiful and it took a very old and very familiar (if wonderful) song and updated it. There was a whole new level of poignancy to it.

Ooh, nice. Scored a bit higher this time. Wasn't my first choice. Was considering a different song entirely, but I remember posting a song from the artist I chose very long ago in the forum, it was her cover of Kiss From A Rose, so I decided to check that song out and by chance I came across her cover of Creep. I actually checked her cover from Kiss From a Rose to use too. Didnt end up submitting but it was one of my first go to. Me and my friend talk about Kiss From a Rose because man, that song is ALWAYS better on covers. This might legit be my favorite take of the song and we never got a full version Jim Rash should have done a full version

Now, ROUND 13: COMBINE! GREAT GENRE FUSION!
For this round, you must pick a song that is a fusion of at least two genres.
Now, some subgenres are fusions, but some are not. I'll go into metal, for example (you don't have to pick a metal song but it's easier for me to explain this way): a band I've used before has been Gojira, which did progressive death metal and, later, straight prog metal. Progressive rock + death metal or regular metal = fusion. In season 12, I used "Heartwork" by Carcass. Carcass is a great pioneer of melodic death metal, but simply adding melody to a genre does not make it a fusion, which, under the parameters of the round, would disqualify them. Another example is Type O Negative, which has already been used this season: after their more thrash-influenced first two albums, they were Gothic doom metal, which, as the name implies, is a fusion of Gothic rock and doom. I could continue with examples and obviously metal isn't the only place to find fusions but the basic gist is simple: THE SONG HAS TO BE A CLEAR GENRE FUSION.
Since this round is a bit tougher, DEADLINE IS 9PM CDT FRIDAY.

Welp, going for it in a way to either succeed spectacularly, or flame out like a meteor from space

Apologies for the lack of updates but I wanted to be a smidge lax on the deadline because of the round theme. However, I'm currently checking over what I have and will tag the missing people soon.

Working my way through the songs. Thanksgiving and general daughter stuff keeps me a little busy but I'll have rankings in some time tomorrow.
Will say this: the round has my favorite song of the game so far.
