Also, early last year, I saw a video online of this woman who spent years as a porn actress who was ashamed of her past (rightfully so, too). I felt sorry for her after watching that video, especially when she mentioned how she would be out in public and would get recognized. I have a real problem with this sort of statement. Why should she rightfully feel ashamed of her past in porn? She should not have to feel ashamed. Even worse, that kind of attitude makes it impossible for people to move on from a career in porn if they wish to. I read an interview with Gauge about her return to porn. Essentially, she said she made her money, saved up and got an education, and started a career in nursing (which, since my wife is a nurse I have a real appreciation for the work that goes into pursuing that career). She went back to porn when one of her co-workers recognized her, outed her, and essentially got her blackballed from her new chosen career because no one wanted to be associated with someone with a porn background. F*** THAT. You don't like porn? Don't do porn. You don't want anyone to do porn? Don't make it impossible for them to do anything else. Seriously, she invested a lot of time and money to go into nursing and all of her potential employers torpedoed that because they feel she should be shunned for her porn past. The fact that she was outed by someone who must watch a lot of porn to recognize a porn star outside of that setting says plenty.

This reminds me of a Chuck Taylor interview when he said they went to a Ron Jeremy standup routine at a club and Sami Zayn went up to him and said "You are not funny, please never do that again" in a completely serious tone Thank you, Sami Zayn I'm just picturing Sami with a deadpan look and delivery. That's f'ing great! LOL

I remember having a conversation with a friend who was still early into her adult film career but I remember her talking about how women now get into the industry for all the wrong reasons...thinking they are gonna get to be a contract girl right outta the gate or that the way to become one is to just to do every single type of scene and burn themselves out so companies have no more interest in them.
And also alot of them that get into it now really do not like sex that much but instead believe it is an easy way to alot of money...which is the biggest misconception because unless you are a contract girl you aint making diddly squat hence why alot of girls go to cammodeling for their side hustle.

You don't like porn? Don't do porn. You don't want anyone to do porn? Don't make it impossible for them to do anything else. Aurora Snow has written extensively in her columns for the Daily Beast about the difficulties escaping the stigma of being a porn star. As I recall, she tried going to university while still doing porn part-time to pay for it, and wound up getting so much hassle from her fellow students after being outed she quit both school and porn altogether and moved to some small town in the middle of nowhere.

I have edited my post and wrote "understandably" because I got where she was coming from. Maybe I should watch the video again, but I recall that she had gone through some stuff during her time in the business. The actress in question is Angela Aspen (real name: Jessica Neely). At that time, I recall reading some stuff about the hardships some of these people go through. Not just the women, but also the men.

Sounds about right, it's a billion dollar industry but we are a country that has to keep it hidden at act like it doesn't exist. Then if you are found to ever having done it people think you are satan.

Reminds me about the story of Sasha Grey volunteering to read to children. She dressed normally, went by her real name (Marina Ann Hantzis), and was literally just reading stories to kids. But no, somebody recognized her, raised hell, and she had to stop. People seriously need to mind their own f***ing business.

"I can't have her reading stories to my kids!!! Do you know what kind of depraved stuff I have watched her in??!!" Given the origins of most fairly tales there's a better than average chance the stuff being read started out far more depraved than the stuff she'd done in her previous career.

I’m far from being a prude, but I totally understand parents being upset with this. At the time, she was fresh out of her pornography career. A very, hardcore pornography career. She was invited because she is a celebrity and an author, but her writing career kickstarted due to her previous occupation. She was extremely popular in her field. Kids could google her real name and still, pics of her licking toilet bowls, etc. would come up.

It's one thing if she came in to the school in Daisy Dukes and a bare midriff to read..... she came in dressed in "appropriate" clothing and brought no other unwanted attention to herself to do a wonderful service and she gets grief. It's like the other poster alluded to..... I wonder how they know she was an adult film actress? Let's find that out..... I'm sure the person/people doing the complaining will quiet down a bit or won't have an answer for that.

I'm assuming the kids she was reading to were anywhere from Kindergarten to 2nd or 3rd grade right? I have a 2nd going into 3rd grader that has no idea what pornography is. I would hope most kids this age have no idea what it is either and are not searching adult websites. Just my opinion.

What about drag queens? I've seen people get all bent out of shape over drag queens doing stuff with kids. You really think little kids are going to Google the lady who read to them for ten minutes?

I mean, just look at him, for Christ sake. Dude is the living, breathing, and walking definition of "pervert." He's really one of the biggest cases of "hiding in plain sight" I can think of. He's let himself go, but he can't really fight his genetics. I don't this is fair.

Wasn't she applying for a program that sends celebrities to read to kids? I know she's done real movies and shows now. I don't think there is anything wrong with the choices she's made and she should be proud of her mainstream transition. But we're still talking about someone who initially got famous for things like eating out of a colostomy bag on camera. Come on.
