AEW's ratings has been really unstable ,this week besides the random factor could be the wrestling drama, mox and sammy being removed from the card, could be because people are gonna wait for fyter fest, they could be mostly DVRing

I do think next 2 week should see a spike. As long Moxley is still on, that could play a factor. We will see. Honestly surprised by this being it was a great show in quality.

I decided to sit out this week's show since I didn't really feel like watching it given everything going on around it, but while the previous few shows I've thought are good they just... really don't feel important at all. Every feud going on right now feels like filler before they start building up All Out, and I'd say Jericho, Moxley, and Cody are probably your top three guys and all three of them feel like they're slumming it at the moment.

This feels like a huge L for AEW, but I think it pretty conclusively establishes that there's a loyal core of around 600,000 fans that will watch pretty much every week. This show was no doubt affected by Moxley being removed from the card, all of the scandal currently rocking the wrestling world, and there really not being an especially compelling or heavily promoted main event. That's actually probably good news for AEW, because that number pretty much guarantees its spot on TNT indefinitely.
Hopefully the Fyter Fest shows do a higher number though - I do think it would be a bit problematic if "PPV level" cards don't do a bit of a higher number.

I've been in a wrestling vacation mode. Didn't watch Dynamite.
Oops, I guess.

Huh. I figured they would tank worse with two main attractions not being on the show, combined with NXT having a much larger sell going on.
But, boy do people on social media sound like it's Armageddon. Tribalism, baby.

Lucha Bros being back I thought would balance it a little.

Honestly I have a really hard time seeing most casual fans caring at all about the Lucha Bros because they're pretty much total jokes thus far in AEW. They're always competitive granted but the vast majority of their wins come on Dark and they usually lose when they fight someone who particularly matters.

The bigger issue with the Lucha Bros is that they were unadvertised, so them showing up unannounced isn't going to magically draw Lucha Bros fans that didn't know they would be there.

Woof, that is ugly... especially for it being a go-home show to Fyter
I can imagine Moxley, Sammy, and Natural Nightmares having to be audible'd off the card hurt, that and I guess the card just not being incredibly strong this week, in stark comparison to next week if all goes well.
But that's a huge number for NXT, I'd be excited for them if I didn't sigh at the potential dumb comments online that will and have resulted from it... definitely wanna see the ratings breakdown this week.

Yesterday's show was good but look at what the card was, you had 2 squash matches, Janela/Kiss, Hardy/Ortiz. No Mox, no Bucks, Cody in a pre-taped, no Omega/Page. I understand AEW needs to build that 2nd tier of guys but you're leaving off 6-7 of your top draws off the show.
It would be interesting to see the quarters, but keep in mind from like 8:30/8:45 on, NXT had two women's matches (which are proven draws), Kross (draw), then a triple threat match with stipulations.
AEW needs to do a better job of structuring the show around their draws.

Dynamite's gonna focus the roster better on the more top talent, and the second show is gonna be their Thunder, keeping in mind, DARK's still gonna be a thing too. I didn't mind the show, it was good and did what a go home is supposed to do, but yeah, the rating from AEW doesn't shock me, but NXT surging like it did was a surprise.

Ehh I saw this coming. Last week they got a surprising good rating. But I been saying this for a few weeks now. You need stronger match ups then this.
Wardlow vs Lucharusas- interesting match up. But neither guy has been built up enough that non die hards would care to see this.
Shida vs jobber-channel changer
Cody/Hager press conference cool idea. But Cody just using same old speeches, Hager was barely in it and people don't care about Hager right now.
Colt Cabana/Brodie Lee vs Janela/Kiss- channel changer. People don't like Dark Order and if they are gonna change that. Then you can't be involving Lee in storyline about midcarder joining.
FTR vs SCU-no heat, no build etc.
Brian Cage vs jobber- channel changer when he's facing guy Marko Stunt size. They need to stop with these squash matches on Dynamite. There too many of them. Even if Mox is here. You don't need to keep doing this with roster back.
Matt Hardy vs Santana-channel changer. Not AEW fault with Sammy situation coming up. But only die hard are gonna watch this. Especially when end game is private party coming out for the save.
Jericho/Orange Cassidy brawl. Hey if this is on at 730. It probably works really well. But when u put it in main event up against Lee vs Gargano vs Balor. Well nobody is going to watch this mid card angle here.
So it's easy to see the problem here. AEW got so much talent and wasting so many guys. It's like they are holding back and not putting on A+. They gotta stop with filler stuff when NXT not putting on filler stuff. AEW roster is good and deep. They need to stop with the squash matches, predictable top guy vs lower card guy or so many Tag matches.

AEW has been up and down with their numbers over a 4-6 week span I believe
Somewhat back to how they when it was more 50/50 between them and NXT before the new year

Feels like its time to break up Omega and Hangman and have them join the singles division

Ratings have been up and down for AEW, but it is the lowest rated Dynamite ever and down 29% on what they were averaging pre-COVID.

Feels like its time to break up Omega and Hangman and have them join the singles division Too soon If the pandemic didn't happen, it probably could have happened (the breakup) by now because it would have reached a boiling point but with Hangman out those first two months they had to essentially reset

I would have been shocked if NXT didn’t take it.
