Mission Hill was definitely "Gen-X'y" when it was made, but a show set in a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood involving offbeat people who largely find that the modern economy doesn't really work well for them? Still think there's a good deal of relevance to be had there, with the right fine-tuning.

I don't know, trying to transplant those old quirky, Gen X personalities into a modern setting, I can't see it not coming off either really outdated or just mean-spirited. Just way too easy for it to descend into "kids these days spend too much time on their phones" jokes.

Bill will begin pitching "Gus and Wally" to networks and streaming services next week. Werent Gus and Wally supposed to be in their late 40s/early 50s? While you dont have to age cartoon characters, having them be the same age as they were in 2000 (when the show aired) would look kind of weird, unless you make this spin-off a period piece. And if you DO age them up, it would be a hard sell to push an animated sitcom about elderly people to networks (streaming would likely pick it up though).

The plan is to continue I think a year or two after the events of Mission Hill, so they aren't being aged that much.

Well, so much for that. f***. Same situation Kevin Smith had with Mallrats. Studio has no intention of doing anything with the property but will not release or even sell it. Pretty much a Vince McMahon mindset. They cant or dont want to make any money on it but they will be damned if anyone else will either.

I said it before and I said it again how the f*** did Discovery become bigger then Warner Brothers I get the idea. They make extremely cheap programming that does extremely well in the ratings. But so well that they can buy WB boggles the mind. I wonder if it is a similar situation to when venture capitalist firms buy businesses like Toys R Us. They borrow the money to buy a company and then saddle the company with the debt from buying them. So WB I believe was 3 billion in debt before the merger so now they would be 33-43 billion in debt.
