Lemme give some love to the movie theme...it isn't quite on the level of the OG theme (mainly because the guitar rift on the original is perfection) but still awesome.

I only watched the pre-power transfer episodes of MMPR prior to the movie, so I was totally confused at first as to why Jason, Zack, and Trini weren't in it. They were supposed to be in it. There's even press stuff you can find with the original cast hyping that they're about to shoot a movie. When Saban tried to rip them off, they split and left them scrambling to replace the OG cast. I think the new Rangers even filmed the movie before filming any episodes of the show. Correction, Saban been ripping them off If I remember correctly, their was already a dispute on pay and he was basically looking to replace them behind their back and they found out. Aisha, Adam and Rocky debut in Nov 1994 The Ninja Encounter episode. Zack, Trini and Jason last episode they actually appeared was Opposites Attract which aired in Oct 1994. The movie was intended to have Zack, Trini and Jason before their contract dispute. Adam, Aiesha and Rocky were already doing episodes before the movie started filming. Also they were shooting episodes as they shot the movie which included Rita and Zedd wedding episode. I believe Bulk and Skull were allowed to help direct on an episode to make up for their lack of screen time on the movie

I still love this film, campy or not. Ivan Ooze was a fun villain and felt like a proper big screen adaptation of Power Rangers (though, don't get me wrong, I liked the recent movie as well). Kinda prefer the films version on how they got the new zords/powers over the tv explanation. Well the movie gave us the super hot Australian woman in like a green bikini thing while the show gave us a robot ninja who talked like Dudley Doo Right. So, yeah the movie wins that category.

I haven't watch this since I was a kid, but I loved it then. I think I'm too afraid to watch it now and have the memories of it ruined for me.
Though, to be honest, my favorite memory of this movie is walking out of the theater with my parents and my dad whispering just a little too loud to my mom, "What in the f*** did we just watch?" It's the only time I've heard my dad curse, so that's how I know he must've really, really hated it.

I remember going to see this on a summer camp trip like it was yesterday. I was one of the few kids there who was legitimately excited for the movie.
I still love it to this day.

It's...not THAT bad. I mean I kind of grew up with this movie and had seen it multiple times, thanks to younger cousins watching it at my grandma's house. Yes, the CGI looks awful by today's standards. It's also funny to see that while Angel Grove was supposedly a US city, this film was clearly shot in Sydney and other parts of New South Wales, as well as Queensland.
Paul Freeman totally hammed it up as Ivan Ooze. It was clear that he was having fun in the role and he pretty much stole every scene he was in.

As discussed before tho, their momentum went downhill fast after this
Keep in mind S3 was the same year and it fell off a cliff hard. They needed that Zeo reboot in the worst way

Yes, in fact a Sydney landmark is used as a weapon in one scene. I remember there was an episode of the TV series when the gang suddenly had to go to Sydney on a school trip.. and the next scene the gang were in front of the Opera House. So the cast were obviously there to film the movie’s exterior shots.. but then it creates some confusion .. if that Sydney exists in the MMPR Universe... why use it as a stand in city for Angel Falls in the movie, when Sydney itself is used as the actual city in the series? I think this was the time that the NSW government introduced a tax credit to film around the state, particularly Sydney. Cause after this film other major Hollywood films were made there.., like The Matrix, and Mission: Impossible 2

As discussed before tho, their momentum went downhill fast after this Keep in mind S3 was the same year and it fell off a cliff hard. They needed that Zeo reboot in the worst way I never saw it as falling over a cliff, season three had the stakes raised in a way the show hadn't previously seen during the build to Zeo. It's the season where Zedd and Rita basically prevailed in every major storyline. It's a pity they never reached that level again and had to step aside for the Machine Empire If only the fanon Zeo finale 'Scorpion Rain' had happened.

Me and @sigmax can tell you from experience that Season 3 fell off. They were starting to run out of ideas. The stakes were really artificial. Ninja Quest is the best thing about S3 and that was at the beginning. Also Bulk and Skull finally becoming good guys. Otherwise the reason of the season is the Kim leaving storyline. Then Master Vile comes and it is basically cruise control between that and Alien Rangers until they finally get to Zeo Season 3 feels like a bunch of padding. Getting new zords in arcs, twice (got to sell them toys), episodes that didn't need multiple episodes

Bless my mom and the hoards of other parents that took their kids to see it. I'm now around the age she would've been when she took me to see it, and if I saw something like that movie with zero context, I'd probably be thinking WTF too.

NOPE. DON'T LIKE THIS. I was in 2nd grade when this came out. I went to the theaters and watched it multiple times, and when we got it on VHS I watched it constantly. I had the soundtrack. I was obsessed.
I do not like that this was TWENTY-FIVE years ago at ALL.

Well, Turbo didn't know what it wanted to be Bad enough you had to watch the movie before Turbo season or you'd be lost. Not true! They spoiled the ENTIRE damned movie before the first episode of Turbo by doing a literal movie recap. Seriously, the movie was released on March 28th, and if you didn't watch it before Turbo premiered on April 19th (like I didn't), you had the entire movie spoiled. This was where my fandom ended for the longest time (until I caught the premiere of Dino Thunder on happenstance).

Like I said you'd still be lost considering you really don't know why they got the powers but you got the cliffnotes version of the movie If they didn't do that then they would been f***ed. It is not a bad idea to do a movie leading into the season but everything with Turbo is a mess anyway up until the 2nd half of the season

This is one of those rare occasions where aim shocked because it actually seem LONGER than 25 years since this came out. I still remember going to the theater to see this with my best friend in middle school.
