No one has surprised me more than this guy, and watching him has also been a nice reminder for me of just how important commentary is in helping to get an act over, especially a guy who doesn't cut promos. Jericho, in particular, has done an excellent job propping him up as an absolute beast. Then he goes and backs it up by pulling off some young Scott Steiner shit. That's who he reminds me of, a young Scott Steiner. Now get him a pogo stick. And some eggs.

Dude looks great and has great moves but what's impressed me most is what he does when something isn't happening. He always has the right facial expressions and is reacting the right way. Dude gets wrestling and is getting better every week. Yeah, for a guy who didn't have, to my knowledge, any TV experience before AEW, you wouldn't know it by watching him. He doesn't turn it off when he's out there, and seems to make the most of any time he's on camera. Pairing him and MJF was a masterstroke. He's very obviously being modeled some after Big Bubba Rogers to an extent, which makes sense, obviously, given Cody and Khan's fondness for that era and Dusty's work, but Warlow has plenty unique to him as well. I love the look on his face when they've had him showing frustration with MJF's bullshit and degrading him, like telling him on twitter that he wouldn't get paid if he lost to Luchasaurus in their singles match. Even Jericho on commentary seemed to be champing at the bit for Wardlow to rip MJF's head off after he cost them the tag match tonight.

I'm sure I'm not the first to point this out, but the dude has shades of Batista both in terms of characterization and how the crowd is warming up to him as time goes on.
I've not heard him speak to know if he's even 1/4 the promo that Dave is, but he's already a better and more athletic pro-wrestler.
Interestingly enough, Luchasaurus reminds me a LOT of The Undertaker. Over the top gimmick that the performer behind the character gets over? Check. Relies more on athleticism as opposed to strength? Check. Hell, they even have oddly similar builds beyond both being "big men".
The one thing I never expected out of AEW is that not only would they find and feature plenty of hosses (Hager, Wardlow, Luchasaurus, Archer, etc.), but they'd be hosses that could go in the ring.

To think Wardlow was an absolute unknown before. I knew nothing about him, but the more I see, I am impressed. Hooking him up with MJF was a smart move, and when Wardlow turns on him, it will be awesome.

I like Wardlow alot. 3 guys of the future in that tag match. Wardlow, Jungle Boy and MJF. I think its too soon to break up Wardlow and MJF.

My Girlfriend didn't really watch wrestling before AEW so virtually everyone was new to her, however Wardlow was one of the first people she really latched onto. Admittedly, partly because he's a bit of a hunk but her fandom really picked up when he started wrestling. I can only conclude that she has a good eye, because he's killing it right now.
Comments from this week included 'that was a good Wardlow expression' after he was kicked in the corner by Luchasaurus and 'Wardlow could stop Cage I think.' What can I say? The girl knows her hosses.

wardlow has been much more impressive than I first thought he would be when they first started doing his pre-debut videos on him. I was expecting generic hoss #15. Wardlow is much more than that

Who'd have thought WWE would be out hossed by another company and smarks would lap it up.

Who'd have thought WWE would be out hossed by another company and smarks would lap it up. It's funny - wrestling fans do, in fact, love big guys, but they love good wrestling more. Present a big guy who is a good wrestler, or who is Sid Vicious, and they'll do fine.

Who'd have thought WWE would be out hossed by another company and smarks would lap it up. The big difference is AEWs big guys can go in the ring to a decent standard and all have a character/story to make you invest in them. They're not just generic big guy no. 27 straight off the production line

Reckon he'll be the guy who finally pins MJF. Crowd will pop huge when he finally decks him.
