Alright rating. I know that AEW's entire presentation is going to be better once the crowd is back, it just added so much to the show because the crowd there actually makes a difference and boos and cheers who they're supposed to. Hopefully, they no longer "save" stuff for when the crowd returns, but just keep giving us the best they can at this moment.

So NXT won by 54K viewers. I went back to the June 17 show where AEW beat NXT by less than 30K viewers. The quarter hour breakdowns saw AEW win 5 quarter segments, to NXT's 3. I'm guessing something similar happened here but in NXT's favor. I'm guessing AEW won the entire first hour, and probably through the Cody/Hager match but lost it after that and Sasha/Io got a significant jump in viewership to win NXT the night. Pretty much, PnP vs PP likely tanked the ratings and gave NXT the win. I know it was a last minute change but if they had billed Private Party vs PnP as a Number One Contenders match for Night 2, I think it would have kept more attention because it immediately gets more weight, and Private Party winning over the heel team to face Omega/Hangman comes off more like a shocker.

Its good both shows gained viewers. Both shows were equally stacked Imo. To me NXT is just putting out better shows at the moment. But it goes back and forth. I'm sure next month AEW will be putting on better shows. Then back to NXT....etc.

I'm sure next month AEW will be putting on better shows. Then back to NXT....etc. Both shows click with storylines and then the storylines happen and they pull back or re-assess and AEW's been doing that really since Double or Nothing, which isn't a bad thing really we've seen some nice matches and build, but Fyter/Fight fo the Fallen has definitely gotta end some things and start giving us some hooks for All Out to build towards.

Sasha vs Io: 900K Omega/Hangman vs Best Friends: 645K Source: WON As much as people here love Trent and Chuck it is starting to appear that right now they are not rating draws Not at all. Since Dynamite has started we have been told they are a midcard tag team. Them beating jobbers and Private Party to get title shot. Well nobody thought they were gonna beat Omega/Page here. This is why you can't put match like this in main event. AEW really needs to stop being so conservative with booking and afraid to give away better match ups on tv. This type of match is fine for 745 or whatever. But nothing you can sell as main event match. Not when you are going up against NXT and featured one of Smackdown top woman draws. Again AEW needs to plan out next 3 ppv big top 3 match ups. If they aren't using that match up over the next year on ppv. Well then can use some of those matches on free tv. And if they are scared for some guys to take pin. Well then throw in midcard guys with good records to take the pin. For example let's say for Fight for Fallen. People wanted to see Cody vs MJF for title. But you don't want MJF to take the pin. Well how about you throw Shawn Spears who has good record and history with Cody in the match to make it a 3 way. With Spears/MJF joining together at first. Of course until it's time to pin Cody and then they start fighting. With Spears taking the pin at the end. That will give you big match up and not hurt Cody or MJF.

This may sound stupid, but I didn't realise until I stumbled onto a Instagram post earlier that people were genuinely treating NXT vs AEW like a sports rivalry. I found a page with multiple posts crowing about NXT's victory. It's wrestling, this seems insane to me.

It's so tragic haha. Don't get me wrong, I get sports rivalries, every one likes their team to do well. But how have people managed to skew wrestling into that mentality? Wrestling is wrestling, just enjoy what you enjoy.

Wrestling is wrestling, just enjoy what you enjoy. Honestly, just like a lot of things, I blame it on the narrative spun during and after the Monday night wars where both companies were on the brink of death and fighting to survive when that mostly wasn’t the case and caused the death of WCW ironically spending more than their means to compete when 99% of the time they didn’t need to. Like, I’ll admit, I get the tinges when people bash AEW not because I don’t agree but because of how it was ingrained from watching WWE post MNWs how much they wanted me to believe one company will die if they don’t well but a) television doesn’t work like that, b) business doesn’t work like that and c) WWE demonstrated themselves that without competition, they become husks of themselves able to coast via just as desperate television executives.

AEW fans Don't brag as much because honestly, They've won so much it became normal, While NXT fans are a bit more vocal when they get the rare wins. At the same time when NXT loses they usually take it in stride while AEW fans come up with soooo many excuses as to why they lost. It is rare we see people who genuinely wants to see both succeed.

Cody vs Hager was the peak of viewership, JE/MJF and Wardlow the peak of demo.

I dunno, I only know like three casual viewers, but they all think it's either plain rubbish or just stupid.

Yeah, not surprised about the Best Friends thing. They suffer from SCUness. Good team in a sea of amazing teams. When there's a division of JE, FTR, Young Bucks, Private party, and Lucha Bros I just don't see Best Friends or SCU as anything all that special.
