I've only seen a couple GCW shows, but I know and kind of love who Nick Gage is and with so much hype this guy gets with hardcore internet fans am I out of line saying I truly believe not trolling that this match would pop a pretty f***ing good rating? Outside of the scope of ex-WWE guys, I would argue he's got one of the biggest followings on the Indies these days. He's one of the last outlaws of Pro-Wrestling too which makes it a ready made story against the squeaky clean image of Cody.

The only thing I would have against Nick Gage is that so much of his package is the entrance, and he ain't getting that in AEW. They aren't paying Metallica for the theme song, and even if they did have real fans, they won't let them hug and shove him on the way to the ring. He'd could still get over given his real intensity and his passion, but the dynamic will change as he would go from being "the god of this shit" to an outlaw facing "the god of this shit in AEW."

I think what he has to his advantage and that very few others have is an aura. You take away his entrance, his music, his fans, it doesn't matter, when the man steps out onto a stage he just evokes what he's about. The only way I can describe it is like when you see certain bands for the first time, you may not know their music or what they're about, but they just have that presence that forces you to take notice of them, that's what Gage has. So yeah, I think you're right that the dynamic would change as would some of the presentation, but none of that stops Gage being a terrifying individual and the total antithesis to Cody.

Now, that I will agree with. He does absolutely have an aura of danger that no one else has. It's just a matter of whether or not a big time company can utilize him in a way that lives up to his status in the indies.

Sandow if he can rediscover the WWE charisma and none of that TNA Aron Rex nonsense.
Barrett is retired but would do one last match as him and Cody are mates IRL.
I think AEW is on the fence re intergender wrestling (as am I, some like it fine, some don't fine) but I imagine Rose or Kong's music hitting would get quite the raised eyebrow pop once crowds return.

Sandow was last seen on NWA, and he was knocking it out of the park with his arrogant Z-level movie star gimmick and his alliance with the popular Question Mark, essentially going full circle and becoming everything he hated in The Miz.

From a realistic story point of view I do like the idea of the Dark Order targeting Cody and the TNT title and having him go through the gambit to get the title either on Colt or Brodie. You can also do some things there with the Nightmare Family and maybe use an angle to give 2 of QT's students a rub similar to what 5 and 10 got.
As for as independent talent? Tremont deserves a break and he has been begging for a Cody match for a few years... Cody could also get to do a Bunkhouse Brawl. Contract permitting id also love to see Cody go against Jacob Fatu or Filthy Tom

He also can work matches as well with only chairs and such. He fought against JT Dunn and that match was really good without light tubes.

Dude threw a legit judo takedown to pacify Arquette when he went crazy in that infamous death match.

Now I'm all excited about the possibility of Eddie Kingston getting a title shot and setting myself up for disappointment.
Some people were saying they didn't like the title being defended every week on TV, but I always loved the idea of a TV Title that gets defended every week against random guys.
That's a great opportunity to bring in talent for a one off and showcase them to a worldwide audience

A lot of ways Nick Gage's aura is the same as what the Sandman has. Take way the music and the stuff he did, was not the same like when we saw the Sandman in WCW and even in WWE. Gage while a better in ring worker than Sandman he still may have some trouble winning over people the way he does now. Not saying he won't because of course people who know him and see him will pop, but the others who haven't may not understand it.
