Can we not speculate on if this is an attempted suicide or, God forbid, a potential murder-suicide until it's established as such? Yeah, honestly, I meant no disrespect by it nor am I saying that's definitely what happened. I'm hoping it's NOT either of those things and it was simply a tragic accident. I've done some reading about that lake and the conditions definitely match up with what another poster described. It has a history of accidental drownings, unfortunately.

Glee was just doomed for tragedy. What an awful thing all the cast members have had to love through

Yeah, sadly, unlike the thing that happened with Shad, there have been speculations of a possible suicide, which would be really sad. Oh God what?!! Was she so forgone that she'd put her own child at risk doing something like that?! This sad story got infinitely worse; with respect, I honestly hope you / what you read are wrong.... Sadly that happens a lot

This is so sad. She was my favorite on Glee.

Just heard on the news that they're officially turning this from a rescue mission to a recovery mission, which barring a miracle means she didn't make it.
What a tragedy.

Honestly, first thing I thought of when I heard about this this morning was Natalie Wood. Speculation and theories aside, the core stories are eerily similar - young talent out on a boat and suddenly... they’re just tragically gone with no explanation.
Never have watched Glee, but I mourn for the loss of a young life, a mother, an actress and a future that no one will ever know now.

I also thought of Natalie Wood at first, though the CCTV footage does show that it was only her and her son present, so I'm (pretty sure, anyway) we can rule out foul play. My fiancee and I watched the shit out of Glee (absolute guilty pleasure for me) when it was on, so I've been following this whole thing pretty closely.

I don't know, the weird armchair detective in me is wondering if her bad park job and unnecessarily parking far away from the dock has something to do with it. Like, I get maybe she was social distancing, but there was nobody there at that time.

I heard she had left her purse in the car, and as a woman, I find that a little strange if true. Not declaring foul play or suicide necessarily, but a woman generally wouldn't leave her purse behind in the car like that. Keys, money, ID, phone... it's not something you keep anywhere other than by your side.

I take it you're not a woman/someone who carries a purse? You don't leave stuff that important in your car. You just don't. It doesn't matter how much you're using it where you are; it doesn't leave your side like that.

So you leave it in your car, where it can be broken into while you're out in the middle of a lake?

You’d still at least take that with you in a dry bag or something. Leaving it in a car, you’re begging for it to be stolen.

Also, you should always, always, always have your phone with you when you’re on water. I don’t care if you’re taking an afternoon kayak ride, or a 6 hour trip on a fishing boat always have your cellphone. If something goes wrong, it could be your only lifeline.

Maybe I missed the part in the articles, but where were they exactly swimming? Both of em, seems like it? Do you just jump out of the boat in the middle of that lake? That's freakin' dangerous activity for four year old. For adults too. No matter do you have a life vest or not... ' really hoping the kid won't have recurring nightmares about this. These sad stories just keep piling. Now I'm actually fine with the fact that I have not gone swimming this summer.

OK, I know a lot of bad things have happened in every single year, but why does it feel like 2020 is the worst year to come in a long time and we're barely halfway through?! I didn't even watch Glee, but this so horrible, early 30s is no age to go.

Something I read this morning mentioned that her son said she got in the water to swim and told him to stay there........... and within minutes she was gone. This weekend was the 7th anniversary of Cory Monteith's death (and many people from GLEE are at the lake today), and someone found a comment Naya Rivera wrote about his death. It seems like it very sadly fits for her as well.
