heh heh heh -- HEY GUYS, GUESS WHAT I BROUGHT? Their real flaw was not getting the rights to Are You Being Served and doing the obvious promotional tie in: ...god dammit.oh, I see you are not free at the moment.

Not to derail this thread much but as a guy who sticks to Netflix and YouTube, what is going wrong with HBO Max? This pretty thoroughly covers it: gizmodo.com/hbo-max-review-it-is-a-mess-1843726427Was HBO Max's launch bad? AT&T shareholders described it as a disaster, and even now there's still a lot of issues that haven't been addressed.

I'm another one of those people that had no idea HBO MAX's launch was "bad". I use a Chromecast for my TV and it's available to cast, I've been a subscriber since basically day one, and I get a lot of use out of it. I think the app is pretty solid, the collection is good, I've had no issues with it at all.

Make no mistake about it, Peacock's entire business model is based around whether they can get enough people to pay $5 or $10 a month to watch "The Office" when they get the show's exclusivity at the end of the year to make a profit. Anything beyond that, they'll figure it out as they go.

Will Peacock affect people in the UK? I watch the Office on Amazon Prime (although I do have the DVDs) at the moment.

Not to derail this thread much but as a guy who sticks to Netflix and YouTube, what is going wrong with HBO Max? The biggest issue is they launched without a deal set up with Amazon or Roku, meaning their app isn't available on the two biggest platforms that take up nearly 75% of the total US Streaming player market. I had to pull my PS4 out from storage to get it on my television, and even then the app was very buggy and crashed/lost its place in movies and shows (it would also inexplicably crash or not even play at all at certain times). The content is fairly robust (worth the price for the most part), with a few decent original content items as well. My wife is obsessed with 'Legendary' (a voguing reality tv show), most of DC Universe is on there (ie Titans and Doom Patrol are both very good), and the new Looney Tunes is pretty decent. That said, unless they get that deal inked with Amazon/Roku, it's going to be a struggle to keep going for them. Unlike Peacock, I don't see Warner Media giving up on this just yet as their lineup is strong enough to keep going.

I think the app is pretty solid, the collection is good, I've had no issues with it at all. Well for starters... Roku and Firestick make up like 80% of the market share for streaming devices. HBO Max decided not to have their app on those devices. So right there they cut out about 80% of the people that would subscribe to the service. From there a lot of other people were underwhelmed by what was actually on the HBO Max service compared to Netflix, Hulu and Disney. It was a pretty big failure of a launch. Though not the absolute worst launch of a streaming service this year I also doubt Peacock will be taking that crown any time soon... thanks Quibi.

So I won’t get to see Punky Brewster unless I pay a yearly subscription? 😞

When do we reach the point on the curve when more and more people say "f it" to brand specific streaming services? When Netflix stated it was this cool way to watch shows or movies from the past. But now with so many options I'm at the point of why not just buy physical copies of the things I like than pay for a streaming service that I would rarely use?

I have Netflix and have 0 interest I anything else. I don't watch enough television. Hell right now I'm binge watching Unsolved Mysteries on YouTube, for free so I'm not even watching Netflix right now. I think we're on the verge of the streaming service bubble bursting, which is predicted would happen from the beginning.
