www.cnet.com/news/peacock-wont-offer-mobile-downloads-to-watch-offline-at-launch-wednesday/#Let's review: - No Roku or Amazon at launch
- No user profiles
- No 4K or HDR
- No mobile downloads
- Launching with reboots of Saved By the Bell and Punky Brewster
- No Friends or Seinfeld
- No Summer Olympics, which the service was supposed to launch with and was going to be a big selling point.
This service is going to be a flop. Even HBO Max launched with user profiles, mobile downloads, and new Looney Tunes shorts.

What is there even left when you take all those out? Did they make the site with Geocities?

Their real flaw was not getting the rights to Are You Being Served and doing the obvious promotional tie in:

Peacock just seems so unnecessary. At least HBO Max has a wealth of content they could use and it's just a massive failure in execution. Mostly because AT&T is gonna AT&T. But Peacock? What do they got besides Universal films and NBC shows? Combined they don't come close to the amount of content Warner or Disney has.

ViacomCBS owns Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV, and CBS, just to name a few, and they're still nowhere near as big as Warner or Disney.

So no Amazon or Roku... what is with that? With them and HBO Max who isn't playing ball to get them on there?
I don't think I ever downloaded anything on my phone from a streaming service. Maybe its because I rarely fly and when I do I either use the in flight tv or just read a book but is it popular otherwise?

Meanwhile, I like a lot of the stuff Quibi is offering, but I just don’t want to watch them on my tablet, I want to watch them on my tv while I use my tablet.

It feels like Peacock is like the guy that saw what everyone else was doing and said, "Oh.... I'm going to do it too because you can't be cool unless you do this". I've head for a couple months with my Comcast service and other the streaming channels with selected SNL sketches from all the different eras and quick The Office gags, I haven't looked it at. Even with those streaming channels, they were on in the background while I was doing something else.

The only point I see of this streaming service was to take The Office, Parks and Rec and Friends from Netflix so they get a hearty "screw off" from me.

the only thing that makes me lean towards using Peacock for a bit would be the Psych movie.

Peacock will be having a free tier, something that HBO MAX didnt do. Also the premium tier is free to those who still subscribe to Comcast tv (and Cox), and they promised a similar deal with other tv providers. I wouldn't count out the NBCUniversal library, it's still pretty big. Plus I saw on day one all the Primere League games on July 15th will be free there, so unlike most of the other services there is a sports component. I wonder how many people will pay attention once they get the rights to The Office, or is it just a show that has a surge in popularity now only because it's on Netflix. The only point I see of this streaming service was to take The Office, Parks and Rec and Friends from Netflix so they get a hearty "screw off" from me. Friends ended up on HBO Max.

Friends is a Warner Bros. show, so it's not a surprise that it ended up on Warner's own streaming service (HBO Max) and not Peacock. On the other hand, I believe Peacock will have Two and a Half Men, which is also a WB show.

They’ve got Psych: The Movie 2, so I’ll have to check into it for that at least.
I have a hard time imagining it being worse than Apple TV+.

Maybe its because I rarely fly and when I do I either use the in flight tv or just read a book but is it popular otherwise? Apparently, it boils down to money, just like it did with HBO Max. Depending on who you ask, both companies either want too much of the cut from the subscriber price, or HBO Max (and Peacock) is trying to lowball them. This is going to be a problem that's going to go on pretty much for the entirety of streaming, as every corporation are willing to play hardball while the customers are the ones most hurt by it. It's just how it is now. You would think that Peacock would have learned a lesson from HBO Max's disastrous launch and seen that their numbers were dramatically affected by not being on either streaming device.

I can’t stand that f***ing show. I’m not saying it didn’t have its moments because it did but overall, I have a seething hatred for it.

Can't wait until every channel has a streaming service. "Welcome to C-SPAN2 Direct. Please log in to continue."

Not to derail this thread much but as a guy who sticks to Netflix and YouTube, what is going wrong with HBO Max?
