I remember the night this happened, there was one guy in the explosion of "holy shits" who was like "Not that impressive. Orton didn't even get all the way back to his feet."馃槀

I mean the timing is great... but like... I never really liked this counter... cause... Orton could have literally moved and Bourne would have landed exactly the same

I've never liked moves where the wrestler on offense only does 10% of the work yet gets 99% of the credit.
That said, this looked awesome.

The replay from a better angle in that post honestly has me go a bit meh. It's true, Orton wasn't even fully up, not even close. Still it made for a nice visual in the moment and I don't think it could have been done cleaner.

Even if nothing but this ever motivated Orton again, sick RKO counters of big moves would be worth his eternal presence.

It's a damn shame we'll never get to see him reverse an F5 into an RKO because Vince needed to keep Brock looking strong for f***ing Goldberg.

I popped as hard as Randy did himself. Lol

I still put the Curb stomp counter into an RKO at mania as my #1 but this might be #2.

I also gotta throw out Orton vs. Ziggler on the 10-13-14 Raw. Catches Ziggler attempting a Famouser, looks like a powerbomb coming, but he just tosses Dolph into the air and RKOs the shit out of him.
And apparently Randy doesn't realize Dolph landed flat on his face, and falls back into a cover before realizing he has to roll Dolph over.

Yea, this was around the time Ziggler was proving he can no doubt work with the top guys. Think he had the Cena feud next after this

I鈥檒l say it.
If Orton hadn鈥檛 moved to do the RKO and Bourne hits his SSP as his trajectory was leading him to, then he misses it by a mile. That鈥檚 why this spot was never really that impressive to me. The Rollins one at Mania 31 is much more smooth.

The best RKO for me was the one on RVD when he flipped on his head.
Or the one on Carlito where he sprung off the two ropes.
There's so many man.

The Rollins one was actually really good. The Bourne one suffered because he barely moved and rolling out of the way would have been just as effective.
