Just watched the latest Lower Decks episode and man, this whole show is worth it just for “Veritas”. Absolutely hilarious and a real love letter to the ridiculousness of Star Trek.

Now put him in the second season of Picard, dammit!

Now put him in the second season of Picard, dammit! {Spoiler}I'm so happy John DeLancie came back for it, too. Now we just need him to show up again in either this show or Picard and mention something about posing as a dragon-like creature to some sentient magical horses and I will love that.

The fan service in this show is on point, I'll give it that.

So the Titan's design is now canon? Nice.

So the Titan's design is now canon? Nice. I gotta admit, I've always liked the Luna-class design. Must be pretty cool for the guy who won the competition to design it to finally see it featured on-screen.

I could easily see Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis having an absolute ball on a show like this.

Yeah, the last three episodes of this show are actually a tonne of fun. They honestly make the show worth it. {Spoiler}{Spoiler} Also, Riker references to the last episode of Enterprise and I laughed so hard.

Just got around to watching the last couple episodes, tremendous! Show really seems to be finding its groove, and the finale was great. I had the biggest smile when the Titan showed up, really fun way to close the season.
Also, the “Wolf-359 was an inside job” joke had me crying

The other thing that got to me too was that a lot of stuff happened that had real implications going into the next season. Not to say “man, it took guts to do what they did” but I’m really interested about what happens next.

This show definitely became a case of not being able to fairly judge a show by its trailers. The reception to this show before and after its episodes aired is like night and day.

The trailers did make it seem like a kinda sorta Rick and Morty clone which...it has moments of that but it’s very much rooted in Star Trek and at times, riffing on itself.

I’m gonna be honest, I didn’t hate that trailer. Definitely had a Rick and Morty feel to the character design, but past that, it just seems like a Star Trek comedy, and I’m okay with that. Haven’t had a chance to see it yet, but happy to hear it sounds like I was correct.

Definitely check it out, little rough out the gate but once it establishes its characters it just continues to improve.

More than the chara design, I'd say Lower Decks really has the usual Justin Roiland/Mike McMahan rapid-fire dialogue/chaotic energy, often to a fault, but if that works for you, it shouldn't be an issue.
Same goes with fanservice : Lower Decks leans very heavily on fanservice, winks and nods to the audience (which partly explains why the fanbase really responded enthusiastically to the show), but if that's not your thing, that might end up becoming annoying.
And I could add that Mariner, the lead character, is an acquired taste (kinda like Burnham, really), but again, YMMV.
