Tournament for the six man title announced. Thinking Sho/Yano/Okada. A lot of storylines going into this tournament. Shingo complained about New Japan’s delay in giving him and BUSHI an answer regarding the titles, while noting SANADA would be happy to take the reins dropped by EVIL. Now those three are officially a team, but need to start from the bottom like everyone else. Meanwhile, Shingo has been looking for a new challenger to his NEVER belt. His comments would suggest no one has stepped up, when Goto, Makabe, Honma, Tsuji and perhaps Suzuki have all asked for the opportunity in Jingu. Starting off the tournament against Suzuki may give us the inside track on Shingo’s next defense. Then we have the CHAOS team starting things off against the BC team, which has the ongoing Okada/Yujiro feud surrounding it. The match itself seems one-sided, but as we head to Jingu, I would be surprised to see Okada win the belts when the KOPW tournament is also around the corner. Also, SHO might be looking past this round anyway, as he has asked for another opportunity against SANADA to avenge his NJCup loss. Tana/Ibushi/Wato looks like a powerhouse trifecta, but Ibushi just abandoned his idol after their most recent loss. Suzuki-gun seems to have their collective numbers, and hold all the momentum going into this bout. Dangerous Tekkers took the tag titles, and have successfully driven a wedge between the former champs. Now they have went from denying them a rematch to outright recruiting Ibushi to join Suzuki-gun (which I would honestly love to see). If the Hontai team loses, it might be the final nail in the coffin of Golden Ace. Personally, with everything above actively happening going into this tournament, I think the NEVER 6-Man titles would be perfect for Goto/Ishii/YOSHI.

Man, that’s a low powered BC squad. Shows how hard they’ve been rocked by the current travel limitations.
I think this is between Team Okada or Team Suzuki, though Wato’s crew pulling off an upset win after his awkward return would be an interesting story.

Wato is on the verge of becoming his class's Yoshi Hashi if things don't change soon.

Though it was still years before he got elevated to a proper role, and even now he's still kinda underutilized.

Beyond that, guessing the idea is Gedo will get enough heat, and it's not like Jado loses anything by losing, he's so thoroughly busted. If they put Ishimori on the team, he wouldn't be winning it for them, anyway, so it'd just be him taking a loss while they are trying to give him something of a push.

I’ve always disliked Kawato but sort of embraced the absurdity of Wato and think he’s a great vehicle to give shine to guys like Douki and be creative with the roster more than they have before. Not every call up or return needs to be an undefeated run.

I'm going for a longshot and saying Suzuki's team gets it. Probably not, no, but some of the other teams seem like they'd either be pointless or it'd be a burden, the titles.

Actually I could see several of these teams winning, both Suzuki-gun teams, both CHAOS teams and LIJ(although I think Suzuki-gun beats them). I have a prediction Suzuki beats Shingo to get a NEVER title shot and Shingo was the target he was talking about.

I think both semis will be CHAOS vs Suzuki-Gun affairs. Could see any of those 4 teams winning it then.

Part of the brilliance of Minoru Suzuki: if he goes into a tag match and pins a singles champion, there's no sense of "Wow, what luck, now he might get a title shot!", it feels a hell of a lot more like "Oh...he was planning that from the second this match was announced, wasn't he?"

I'm personally hoping that Suzuki, Despy, and DOUKI take it.
That said, my head tells me it'll be Okada, Sho, and Yano.
Something tells me they're going to give Okada this and the KOPW title while he's away from the double titles scene.

Bold predictions for the end of this tour: -Ibushi joins Suzuki-Gun. He and the Tekkers sow seeds for a future revolt against Suzuki. -Complicating the above, Suzuki/Despy/DOUKI win the Never 6-man championships. -Master Wato joins L.I.J. -Kidd convinces Makabe to bring the old Makabe back, and he reforms GBH with him, Honma, Kidd, and Henare. -Shingo does something very heelish that hints at a future turn. He's been acting like how EVIL did during the New Japan cup. -Okada wins KOPW. -Jay White returns. Hints at a Bullet Club civil war. Because come on, there's no way that a stable that has the likes of EVIL and the Switchblade doesn't go left in a hurry. -EVIL wins the rematch. -Tanahashi hits some sort of Herioic BSOD-Ishimori wins the Light Heavyweight title by some nefarious means that will leave Hiromu looking for revenge. Maybe an ELP return?

I'd shoot down Ibushi joining Suzuki-Gun if they were still straight-up heels, but between Bullet Club getting their heat back and Taichi and some others getting popular, Suzuki-Guns seem to be de facto tweeners, especially since LIJ have been basically just faces for a while now, just a little edgier than some of the others.

I said elsewhere that Ibushi joining Suzuki-gun wouldn't be the smartest business move because he's such a popular face, but I would love to see it. Ibushi has a style that could work for them, he could cut out some of the high flying moves(which would probably be a good idea at his age), but has plenty of moves that are absolutely brutal. At this point, I would compare Suzuki-gun to an early CHAOS. They will cheat sometimes, but can still kick your ass in a fair fight too.

A familiar name is returning to New Japan.
