I wonder if Prima Nocta is meant to be an angry reclamation of the term, similar to Karl Frederick's Manifest Destiny. Finlay, of course, has a very Irish identity, and the Irish suffered under the practice of "first night" for generations. I was super disappointed to hear about Chase as well. I can only imagine he knows that behavior wouldn't be tolerated in the NJPW locker rooms, and that's why they haven't had to confront him about it. Oh, I am sure that's the intent, David using the name out of defiance, sort of like Devitt using references to The Troubles for a finisher name or two. I get that, though I am not really keen on a rape reference in wrestling on a regular basis all the same. Chase from what I saw insisted some of it was allegations related to an angle he did? Which, what. I honestly only got a scant idea of it, so I don't want to get into it too much, but he's addressed some of it if people want to look. Can't say I am convinced, really, but I didn't see much.

This week's Monday free match takes place on October 12th of 2015 at the Tokyo Ryogoku Kokugikan for the main event of that year's King of Pro-Wrestling between Hiroshi Tanahashi and Tetsuya Naito for the right to challenge for the IWGP Heavyweight Title at the Tokyo Dome.
The story of this match involves Tanahashi trying to push the pace against Naito's deliberate style. No longer the energetic "Stardust Genius", Naito now shows little regard for much of anything that would make him seem in any way like Tanahashi. "El Ingobernable" as he now calls himself, has decided to go against everything that the Ace, and the promotion he carries on his back, stands for. Opting instead to follow the devious example of his amigos from his CMLL excursion, Rush and La Sombra(The future Andrade).
While Tanahashi pulled out the victory, it was not without a struggle. Especially after the masked man who accompanied Naito to the ring attacked Tanahashi once Red Shoes had been taken out. After changing the entire course of the match with his interference, the attacker unmasked to reveal himself as Takaaki Watanabe. Back in New Japan after an excursion in the states for Ring of Honor Wrestling.
In a post-match interview, Naito would rechristen Watanabe as the "King of Darkness", EVIL. Making him the first official member of Los Ingobernables De Japon.
This shows how EVIL and Naito first associated with each other on the way to their rematch for the double championship in Jingu.

Very interesting to go back and watch this match, obviously it was uploaded as the introduction to EVIL as his first pareja. It's interesting to here the crowd behind Naito in this match, as he was very unpopular during the G1 for his new antics. However, at this point the fans were tiring of Tanahashi as the Ace and despite the heel turn, the fans still wanted to see Naito get his coronation, which took over 4 more years from this point. Always loved their matches, the one at WK11 was an all time classic, I still think it's the best match on the card. While they've had quite a few matches over the years, it's been a while, wouldn't mind seeing them face off in the G1 again.

Their match at WK a few years ago for the IC title was damn good Naito was really hitting his stride at that point and one of the first times he showed proper respect to someone after defeating Tanahashi

But I think Naito has better matches with Tanahashi, Ibushi(even they make me worry about both of them) and unfortunately he's gone, but Kenny and Naito had fantastic matches.

I just kinda assume usually heavyweights beat out juniors, but then again, they have broke from that some with Hiromu and some others, so Despy may have a chance.
