Something cool I saw on Reddit this morning (from user SuperSmarkBrothers): — At the upcoming NJPW show, double IWGP Heavyweight and IC champion Evil will be defending against Hiromu who seeks to avenge his fallen leader Naito. This is a perfect echo of the Battle of Yamazaki from Japanese history's Sengoku period. At the height of his power when he was closer than ever to uniting Japan, Nobunaga Oda was betrayed by one of his closest vassals, Mitsuhide Akechi. After Oda's death another of his loyal generals, Hideyoshi Toyotomi rushed to avenge his death and brought an end to the short reign of the usurper Akechi. This short 13 day as shogun is also known as mikkatenka (三日天下, short-lived reign). EVIL won the title on 7/12 and will defend it 13 days later at Sengoko Lord on 7/25! Will history repeat itself, will Hideyoshi/Hiromu avenge their fallen masters, Nobunaga/Naito by defeating Mutsuhito/Evil, or will Bullet Club’s new leader learn from the short lived Shogun and surpass his legacy of failure? — Thought it was a cool comparison. That's fairly accurate

Lineup for Friday's Lion's Break finale Tom Lawlor vs Alex Coughlin I know they've been building to Cobb/Fredericks, but this could be one hell of a fight.

Also, much as I like Nobu, El Desperado and DOUKI already look like they have the makings of an excellent heel tag team.
They already have tandem moves.

I'm enjoying the interview that dropped with the two of them today. Their insight into wrestling in Mexico and becoming buddies there was pretty neat.

If they can't do the BOSJ, they can do an 8 man Super J Cup

Seems like they're teasing Gabriel Kidd feuding with Makabe in the future.

Not a bad show and it set the table for Saturday. I liked the opener with TenCozy really struggling with the Young Lions. You can tell they value Kidd as Yano had to cheat to beat him.
On other notes, looking forward to Shingo/Despy still. Like others, I think Douki/Despy would be a cool tag team for the Jr. Division or even to challenge Dangerous Tekkers.
Good to see Kanemaru actually putting some effort in. Not a huge fan of the Master Wato gimmick, also strange to see him taking pins. Crazy theory, Kanemaru beats him and then convinces him to join Suzuki-Gun, even though I saw him joining LIJ before anyone else.
Main event was decent, as usual Hiromu is always interesting. Naito failed in the match by losing his "tranquilo", I see him having another redemption storyline, while other members of LIJ step up.
Speaking of LIJ, still find the LIJ/CHAOS tag match at Sengoku Lord strange. Both are feuding with Suzuki-Gun and Bullet Club but not each other, as I said before I see an alliance forming and I could definitely see Bullet Club attacking them in this match jump starting that alliance.

Random thought I just had which could (probably won’t) have an impact on the NEVER match between El Desperado and Shingo:
There was an interview on NJPW’s website where Desperado said he’d like to win the NEVER title and then defend it against everybody, even josh wrestlers. Seems to be a random note to mention. How cool would it be to see Despe have a match or 2 in Stardom?

That sounds like something the Suzuki-Gun crew would advocate for as freelancers. Highly doubt the NJPW higher-ups would go for it. Maybe they'd do it for a one off at the next TakaTaichiMania. I do like the way he thinks, though.

I actually really like the story of everyone being so concerned with Bullet Club, that Suzuki-Gun, the most outwardly evil faction, are yanking the title belts out from under them in the carnage.

Cobb reminds Fredericks that he has a long way to go before he can think of himself as Top Dog.
