Warning for people with ptsd/anxiety about car accidents.
Anyway, I'm a relatively young person, and earlier today I had my first ever car accident. Won't go into detail, but basically tried to avoid hurting a pedestrian and ended up in oncoming traffic.
Everyone seems to be okay(I'm a little sore but I think I'll be fine)
My question here is, is it normal to be feeling anxiety and guilt after a car crash? Like I know it was an accident but I just feel so bad and guilty about the whole thing. I already have anxiety and depression, idk if this sad feeling I got is normal or not.
Is it normal to feel depressed afterwards, and if it is, does it fade away eventually?
I'm asking here because I feel more comfortable talking about it anonymously and feel like FAN is a great community for these threads.

Absolutely normal. You will re-live it in your head for a while, micro picking apart every detail wondering what you could of done differently. It will definitley go away with time. Just focus on feeling better and just remember everyone at some point is gonna get into an accident, its practically un-avoidable. Honestly for your mental health i'd try to get back behind the wheel as soon as possible because the longer you go without it, its gonna be harder to drive again with confidence. So get back on that horse when you're ready and remember stuff happens and it wasn't your fault. You got this

Yeah, it's pretty normal. I've been in a couple accidents. Even though they weren't my fault, I still had some hesitation doing certain things or just getting in a car shortly afterwards.
But mistakes happen and you learn from them. Take the lesson to heart and do your best to not let it happen again. It'll all be good!

Yeah, this is pretty normal. I've been in a couple accidents with both me at fault and not at fault, and it's not a good feeling even if no one was hurt in any of them.
The worst part aspect of the actual accident is the sound of the collision itself. The actual thud that metal and hard plastic coming together at a fairly high speed is just the worst sound ever, and it will replay in your mind for quite a bit of time. But it does fade over time. Hopefully you can get through it without much financial burden.

Yeah, I just had a thread here like a month ago ago about getting into an accident. Even if it isn't your fault, for some reason you feel a level of guilt. Its normal. I'm not saying it will go away right away, but you should be your normal self within a week or so.
Also, you say you have mental problems. I do too. The only other thing I can add is that you should maybe try to get in to see your therapist soon.
