If they get some girls who look good and impress in the ring that's great. Even if they aren't signed they'll get looks from other promotions. Have the matches be on both Dynamite and Dark.
Will Shida also be in the Tournament? I suppose the winners would get a title shot to go along with the Trophy their getting.

The first team announced for the Tournament is... well duh ...huh. I was assuming Lethal Lottery style here, unless this is a case where Allie and Brandi are the only non-thrown-together team, which is an angle to play with.

Not sure putting on a tournament almost exclusively featuring teams no-one has ever heard of is the way to go. Might be proven wrong, but I think they need to establish more women on the roster before this. And put some energy into signing some bigger names. A tourney isn't official, but I mean look how successful WWE's Cruiserweight Classic and Mae Young Classic were, yes they had some bigger indy names but also featured a ton of people nobody ever even heard of. If they do a tournament and introduce new talent through it, they could still have matches about it on DARK (And it'd be a great way to promote DARK tbh) and maybe have the semis and final on Dynamite itself. There are ways to go about this without it feeling meaningless, you can build the talent and the climax, again, if that's what they're going to do. All signs point to a tourney though if tag belts are introduced because introducing tag belts with like one established team, and that team kinda hates each other but co-exists just enough to win, doesn't seem like the best plan. Through a tourney you can introduce talent, hype them up with video packages, and build their journey's through it. And since DARK can be however long Tony and AEW really wants, that's why I think DARK would be a great funnel for it and a great way to promote DARK with matches that would be unpredictable which DARK has been lacking lately even though I've enjoyed it. Helps Dynaite's paying attention to DARK more as well noting the ticker, and Khan said DARK is in for a stacked show next week in terms of talent on Twitter. So... I guess we'll see tonight what they go with I think an important difference is the audience. The CCW and MYC were only aired on the WWE Network. That's a more specialized audience and an audience that might be more familiar with the talent. With what AEW is doing, they're putting it on Dynamite which would likely have a more general audience so if they don't get hooked in with the girls, they may turn the channel.

Agreed that starting with a trophy-based tournament rather than going straight to women's tag titles is the smart move right now; there just aren't enough women under full-time contracts in AEW right now and with the world the way it is at the moment it might not be the right time to expand much farther until things improve. This at least allows them to start building in that direction.
Where it likely also works for AEW is that it's a company that thrives at taking wrestlers and pairing them or placing them in trios or stables where they have consistent allies, friends, and thus potential tag partners. They need more women, but they're well positioned to do well even if they only get a handful more on the roster, since they basically assign so many wrestlers likely tag partners, so it won't have to involve a lot of random pairings or two singles stars with no real connection between them.

No indication it will all be on Dynamite. This could be a streamed event, be put on DARK as well. The finals/semis could be on Dynamite, but I think they're planning on getting some online viewers and attention too.

This is great way to bulk up the woman’s roster with out doing some sort “woman’s revolution” type promotion.
If Eddie is any indication I’m guessing we will have some of the great NWA talent.
Allysin Kay Kamille Marti Belle Thunder Rosa
Would all be great additions to the roster.
Some of the dark wrestlers as well.
Pricilla Kelly (finally!?) and Allie Kat would be great indy names to sign.
Maybe they work out a deal with ROH for Session Moth Martina or Maria Manic. Stranger things have happened.

It would look ugly if the Nightmare Sisters end up in the finals.

If Dark order gets one more female wrestlerthat would be cool to tga with Anna Jay.
Otherwise I don`t know how many wrestlers you can have that make sense to tag.
I could see Rebel and Britt if britt wasnt injured. No other Japanese wrestler besides Shida is available and these were the only ones she has history with(maybe with Statlander, but then they would be the clear favorite).

Everything said this does feel like a way to introduce the girls and start weaving storylines together.

It would look ugly if the Nightmare Sisters end up in the finals. It wouldn't. I don't think they're going to win, anyway, Allie probably screws Brandi over, but it'd be kind of nonsensical if they don't get to the finals.

Depends on who they face, again "The Deadly Draw" might be who faces who in the brackets, and maybe Brandi and Allie get favorable matchups. We need to see the teams and how many of them are actual teams, and how many of them are gonna be forced together, because both were hinted at.

The first team announced for the Tournament is... well duh The only womens tag team they've set up and pushed in the entire company?

The first team announced for the Tournament is... well duh The only womens tag team they've set up and pushed in the entire company? Technically Statlander and Shida were a team, and a really good one, but yes this is why I said "duh" Also it doesn't matter if all the girls aren't set up as teams, this tournament is set up to get the girls time, develop them in storylines and maybe even develop teams. It's a scouting opportunity to expand their division and an equal opportunity to develop the girls in a way that is needed.

I’d like for them to concentrate more on building interesting characters and storylines for the women rather than just a tag tournament but maybe they’ll use this to do that
I mean it’s gotten a bit better with Swole vs Baker but need more of that kind of stuff

A lot of characters interacting will probably lead to more development.

Shida not being involved would be a positive for me, just because my main want as a fan is for as many quality new wrestlers as possible. That said, Shida would also be a great utility player who could just designate someone a great prospect that she wants to team with, which would give someone a little shine without tying them to her long term.

Would be fun if Leva and Nyla team again, due to them being undefeated. You know, 1-0.
