That's a good question. It probably depends on the age range you're asking; Hogan's only a nostalgia thing these days, but I'm not sure Cena's really broken out significantly enough to eclipse that yet.
Either way, it's the Rock and Bautista at #1 and #2.

Just asked the 64 year old grandma office manager. She knew who Hulk Hogan was immediately:"pro wrestler, big back in the day". She said she thought she heard of John Cena before, but not sure where at.

Not until Cena shows up in Gremlins 3.

Theres a huge wrestling fan in my office so wrestling was discussed recently
Everyone had heard of hulk Hogan for wrestling but one younger girl (26) who had heard of him for Hogan knows best, but not one of them had heard of John cena
But the youngest is 25 so younger might know him these days

the cena theme tune meme and cena photo posted = blank photo meme i'd say help make cena famous as much as his movie roles as he's still not really had that breakout role yet

It's interesting to consider. I know that Cena seems to get a lot more play in the meme-verse as everyone's default image of who a famous pro wrestler is, and he seems generally more well known among the generation that grew up in his heyday. He also didn't seem to become a well known part of the mainstream until he was done with WWE, though - not that he is more famous as an actor than as a wrestler, but his winding down years in WWE seemed to be exactly when that generation of Cena kids grew up and started using him as their reference point for big deal wrestlers.

Hell no. If Cena was injected into Hollywood smack in the middle of the "Super Cena" then maybe so (ie. Him being put in the Bay transformed certainly would've elevated his profile more than the post bay bumblebee has)

Cena's more relevant but he's not more famous.

Yes. Hogan still IS wrestling to most people, but that all he is and wrestling is more niche than ever. Cena, while not as big as Dwayne Johnson is, is getting roles Hogan could only ever dream of.

No, not yet
Hogan is still the name you think of when it comes to wrestling. At this point, Cena is known more for memes and other stuff then wrestling at this point. He is getting there but in terms of current stars, you can argue he is behind Batista in that regard too
Obviously, Dave has the Marvel exposure, but he has a ton of independent and main movies under his belt as well as getting commercials too.

No. Everyone knows who Hogan is. Everyone. This basically. I can’t speak for other countries but when WWF was at its peak in the UK in the early 90s, Hogan was damn near a household name and still is. The only other wrestler since to have that status is The Rock.

I doubt it. For people over a certain age especially I'd say it's still possible to know who Hogan is and not know Cena but it's pretty much impossible to know Cena but not Hogan.

It's the same difference as asking if current day Hugh Jackman is more famous than current day Clint Eastwood.

There's a difference between household name (Hogan) and a meme (Cena)

Up until a few years ago I didn't think even The Rock had reached Hogan's level of fame but I think we may now actually be at the point where more people in the world know The Rock than know Hulk Hogan. Is Cena more famous than Hogan? 10 years ago, no. Now, maybe. In 10 years, probably. Each year that passes Hogan gets less relevant as people who know him as a huge name get older and the younger generation don't see him as this big time celebrity. He isn't in movies or on TV shows or doing anything else for younger people to latch onto. That's a good question. It probably depends on the age range you're asking; Hogan's only a nostalgia thing these days, but I'm not sure Cena's really broken out significantly enough to eclipse that yet. Either way, it's the Rock and Bautista at #1 and #2. Batista as an actor/celebrity isn't really all that famous like you might think. Take him out of the Drax make-up and he's not that big. trends.google.com/trends/explore?geo=US&q=Dave%20Bautista,John%20Cena trends.google.com/trends/explore?geo=US&q=Dave%20Bautista,John%20Cena,Dwayne%20Johnson,Hulk%20Hogan Rock and Cena also have 10x or more the amount of social media followers. They host award shows and are constantly guests on the big talk shows. They've both hosted Saturday Night Live. As much as I'd love to see it, Big Dave isn't going to be asked to host SNL. His only chance would be as part of a joint thing with the MCU cast. He's low-key had some great smaller roles in ensemble pieces but as far as solo star power he's not there yet. A quick look at his filmography shows that in the past few years the movies he's headlined have either been straight to video or performed poorly in cinemas. Cena at least has solo hits under his belt with Blockers, Ferdinand and Playing with Fire on top of his Transformers/Fast & Furious/Suicide Squad blockbuster stuff.
