That definitely sucks about Anna Jay. Hopefully she's at least on screen with the Dark order, while she's injured she can still improve in other areas like cutting promos for the Dark Order, they can definitely still find ways to develop her character while she's injured.
They also should've had a storyline reason for her injury. Basically they should've kept it Britt v Anna but have Britt attack Anna before the match (like she did to Madi) and have Britt put her on the shelf, which would've given her far more heel heat and given her 2 instant feuds, one with Tay since she'd be pissed off that Britt put Anna out and one with Anna when she returned, which by that time Britt will possibly be Champion. They could've been far more creative with her injury.

It's like how when Kross got hurt.

It's like how when Kross got hurt. Given they were still advertising her last Wednesday, it sounds like they didn't have much time to figure this out. Plus I am a little tired of every injury in WWE being caused by some random beatdown I already forgot about. These guys all train. Some injuries are probably gonna happen there.

It's like how when Kross got hurt. Yeah probably. It was definitely all last minute stuff. Still a bit of fast thinking on their feet and they could've had a mega heel Britt Baker v Mega over Babyface Anna Jay when she returned and a Britt/Tay feud thrown in as well.

Emi having a hatred for both her partners in the Six Woman (Itoh and VENY) sure bodes well for her, lol

Switch Mei and VENY and the teams at least make a little more sense.

It's a showcase match where everyone wants to come out looking good, putting aside differences to try and get a win. It reminds me of the first Fight for the Fallen show when MJF and Spears were a team but they HATED each other. I can see Emi trying to get Mei to help her in the match too, could lead to a good conflict of interests. Itoh's in it for herself, same with VENY. I'd say Shida and Rin have the most synergy or at least the least tension

Hot take: Teams dont need to be composed of people that get along.
Thats is one of my most hated pet peeves with wrestling.

Win the match with the team you've been given. You hate this person? Well if you want to win the match for the next ten or so minutes that's gonna need to not be a problem, or you'll both lose. It's pretty realistic in wrestling to see these matchups and either work together long enough to get the win and then brawl or be tense, or lose, and brawl as well blaming the other for why they lost. It can set up some good match spots and even aftermath.

I prefer things organized into good vs. evil, hero vs. villain.

Hot take: Teams dont need to be composed of people that get along. Thats is one of my most hated pet peeves with wrestling. I think the "BUT CAN THEY COEXIST AHEAD OF THEIR TITLE OPPORTUNITY?!?" trope hurt that for a lot of people, but yeah, if pro wrestling was a shoot then sometimes you'd get teams of people who don't get along put together in a showcase match, assuming you don't have an "everyone is in some kind of stable" format like NJPW or Stardom. Of course, in real life the point of a set-up like that is "what stories can we generate from putting these combinations together?", which is more likely the goal here. Like anything else in wrestling, stuff just needs to be booked with a point in mind.

I mean, Atomicos is a long running concept in wrestling. A successful one too!

I figure the conceit is that they will want to win enough to where disagreements are less pressing than trying to get the win. Emi's got a solid win/loss record for AEW already and is obviously the veteran, but her partners are in a position to gain more than her by winning, and thus might grin and bear it.

Four of the six women in that match are looking for AEW win number one, so that helps.

Interesting tidbit - Tony Khan mentioned in an interview that he first saw Tay Conti four years ago as a manager at an NXT house show in Jacksonville and he thought she had some star potential and was very excited to give her shot when she became available.

Kenny giving Shida a ton of props for the tournament:
“I enjoyed every minute of it. Every match had something unique to offer and I couldn’t have been more proud of them and couldn’t have been more proud of Hikaru Shida, actually. She really went the extra mile and put it all together herself in Japan. These things don’t happen out of thin air. She really wanted to feature the women wrestlers more, the girls stuck in Japan and feature some of the women that she has worked with when she was doing freelance work. So we got some of the other freelancers like Veny, for example. She wrestles in Japan as Asuka. And Veny absolutely killed it against Emi Sakura. Just an incredible match. It gave people a taste of what they’re missing out on, just what they’re missing out out in the world. It’s unfortunate you can’t see all the best stuff all the time every week, but I felt extremely proud to host something as a way for people to see what goes on in that world of joshi and how our athletes are doing as well."
