I appreciate this thread so much.
Women’s division has easily been AEW’s major weakness. The reality is that we are nearly a year into this division and what memorable angles have they’ve had that don’t involve Britt? With 2 hours each week??? It’s embarrassing and they need to be taken to task for it, especially if they are gonna insist on transparent as day virtue signaling.

There’s a few women from the casino battle royal that they haven’t used since. Jazz and Teal Piper aren’t women you want to build a division around but they would be good hands.

I mean, you can tell they _want_ to do something, it just seems like they don't know how to go about doing it.
So much got derailed when they lost access to Joshi talent (outside of Shida), and then injuries hitting basically everybody else that they wanted to push.
And I don't even necessarily think doing the Deadly Draw on Youtube is a bad idea in and of itself, but with the way that AEW has tried to present and market itself, people are going to be paying closer attention to the optics of how it compares to the rest of the product, and a separate Youtube show just isn't going to be seen as "The Big Stage" right now.
Combine that with the Too-Clever-By-Half marketing of their women's-only fan community, they just keep tripping over the starting gate.

Someone like Deonna Purrazzo could’ve been a real helping hand right about now. That’s someone I’m still very surprised got away from them given that she was based in Florida (having been in the NXT system for a couple of years), is legit talented and is largely TV-ready already. It’s hard to think of what Impact offered her that convinced her to go there that AEW didn’t (other than them already having a fairly strong division), unless they never tried that hard for her to begin with. Instant credibility most likely She comes in and takes down Grace and becomes champ. That title has been held strong for a few years thanks to the title reigns of Tessa, Taya and somewhat Grace so for Deonna to get that instant gratification had to play big

And the fact they basically had to refresh Nyla with Vickie because she has been involved with the title since practically the beginning Even the stuff with Brandi and Allie doesn't even fit into this current picture which takes away time from the title

I get Kenny defending the product (being his baby and all), but when a ton of people are calling out the product for only having a 3 minute squash on your national TV, you're clearly in the wrong here buddy. Even cutting a few minutes of PnP/BF you could have shown a highlight reel of the Deadly Draw to get more eyes on it. It goes much farther than sticking your nose in the air and outright dismissing VALID complaints.

They def need to do better Injuries and pandemic has not helped but they are clearly 3rd behind WWE and Impact. It's a glaring hole and has been since the beginning They have been able to do good with Nyla, Riho, Shida, Brit etc and should be able do the same with other talent I wouldn't say clearly behind impact. The best matches in 2020 between both companies have mostly been AEW matches. Britt v Shida, Shida v Nyla, Shida v Ford and Nyla v Riho all stile the show. The only impact match that compares to these matches is the slammiversary match between Deonna and Grace. Honestly I'd take AEW's top 5 women over Impacts top 5 women, they just need more depth. Signing Tay, Christi Jaynes, Diamante and Ivelisse would be a real shot in the arm for the division. They need to be offered contracts ASAP.

Kenny and Brandi clearly aren't the right people to be in charge of the division. I'd rather see Jericho and Dustin or Cody be in charge of booking and hiring the women, especially Jericho. I love Kenny as an in ring guy, one of the best in the world no doubt but he's clueless about running this women's division.

By all reports, both seem to be well respected by the current female talent, especially Dustin.

Idk, while Impact has not had the slappers they have had, I still think they are the better division I would take their top 5 over AEW top 5 tho. Taya to me is the best of either company between AEW and Impact. Rosemary, Grace, Deonna and Kylie are all good hitters. That's not including talent like Kiera, Susie and Tenille who also have upside and done their thing in the past AEW needs that depth tho and not just sign them but feature them. Take a page from NXT in regards to how they present their woman. Big time angles for the women either start the show or end it and they still have time for matches that features other women later in the show

The Division is struggling in part due to travels, injuries and more. Like some said Dustin maybe should get the book for it instead. Should've had a vignette for The Deadly Draw last night instead of just a ticker showing it.

Passing on Deonna right now is nothing short of self sabotage unless they have like five to twelve aces in the hole that they are ready to unveil fast.

Now I wonder where that Nightmare Collective angle would have went if it wasn't met with near unanimous jeers, to their credit they did listen to the audience and quickly killed it off.
Abadon needs to start getting more time on the main show

Dynamite’s viewership with young women has been rising steadily over the past weeks. Last night did tied for the second best number they’ve EVER done in 12-34. As much doom and gloom this thread projects about their women’s division, it frankly may not matter.

As much doom and gloom this thread projects about their women’s division, it frankly may not matter. I wouldn’t call it doom & gloom. More like constructive criticism My word choice was wrong but my point remains. If AEW took the constructive criticism from this thread by giving them more screen time and longer matches, what would happen? I’m positive it would decrease the amount of women watching the show. So to what end?
