After a while, it is time for another 2-for-1 banger! First up, let's continue searching instruments for our one-man band when James & Mike continue (or rather start) playing The Legend Of Zelda: Link's Awakening for the Game Boy: -Interesting discussion they have about regarding one-player games and how they are usually played alone. Also neat to hear that James rarely has the chance to play a game completely alone (like he did with Link's Awakening here) because whenever he plays a game with somebody, it is usually for an AVGN episode or James & Mike Mondays or similar. -Well, I would say that that flying demon enemy is probably a bit more manageable than the devil in Ghosts'n Goblins/Super Ghouls'n Ghosts. -Wondering what these levels in Zelda are called by the majority myself: labyrinths or dungeons? -Also love how James changes the color (via the Super Game Boy's features) to more of a s**t color in this dungeon. -I admit that I haven't played Ocarina Of Time in a long, long, long time but was there really an Octorock enemy like that in Jabu-Jabu's Belly? -Wow, James, way to undermine you talking about having so much fun with the game and everything...and then letting Mike do part of the 8th dungeon. -And indeed, fighting fire with fire will do the trick (also James was able to beat the Mask boss [in Level 5 or 6, I think?] with only half a heart). -Odd how memory can play tricks on you like that since I seemed to remember them having a lot more trouble with the final boss but I guess not (also, you can kill it with the boomerang as well?). -Also love them mentioning that they would love to do James & Mike Mondays on longer 30 hour+ games like Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger etc. but that would equal to about 100-part videos and nobody would probably have any interest in that. Though it's good to see that James liked Link's Awakening very much. -All in all, another fun episode despite James not being the one to play all the time in this one. Next up, let's take our home console for a ride when James & Mike try out the Car Adapter and the Travel Pack for the Nintendo Wii: -Basically, it is a pack released in the UK only that includes a monitor (because otherwise you cannot see what the heck you are doing) and an adapter to plug into the cigarette lighter of your car so that you can play your Nintendo Wii while on the road. -James and Mike actually go over on why this would be a bad idea all around, not just because of the general idea (how long of a road trip do you have to be on to play a Wii game like New Super Mario Bros. Wii or The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword?) but also because of its danger (if your cigarette lighter is in the front, good luck swinging those Wiimotes/Nunchucks around without seriously distracting the driver). -They actually try it out themselves...via an AVGN style sketch. See, that's the part that when they come up really annoy me. Keep your skits and sketches to the AVGN episodes and similar but keep James & Mike Mondays real for the most part. I don't mind them doing photoshops or similar small jokes like that but don't do AVGN-like skits on it like here where James and Mike pretend to be driving with an obvious rear projection in the background. I know that James couldn't film Mike while driving but wouldn't there have been some other way like...taping a video camera or similar recording device somewhere? Or having Kyle Justin or anybody else just be the silent camera guy in the backseat? Because doing this via skit doesn't really show anything about this peripheral. -And it ends apparently with James & Mike dying. Yeah. -Overall, I liked the part where they just talked about the silliness of this peripheral but the skit part can go to heck, equaling out to a decent-meh episode.

Let's reenact the classic "from street rat to riches" story by watching James & Mike play Aladdin for the Sega Genesis: -I knew of its existence but since I owned a SNES as a kid, I was only familiar with the Aladdin on that which was a fun game with beautiful graphics but really easy, perhaps the easiest game on the system (I mean, during the SNES's hot days I was still not that skilled a player as my brother but I still managed to beat this game). -We now know that James's favorite Disney animated movies are: The Sword In The Stone, Alice In Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty and Beauty And The Beast (with his favorite Disney villain being Maleficent, especially in her dragon form). Mike likes Pinocchio and one more that I forgot (though he mentions that he personally prefers the Disney animated shorts to the feature films). As far as Frozen is concerned, James liked it (though he is a bit flabbergasted that the Frozen ride...somewhere...has a 300 minute wait time...yikes). -Love Mike randomly singing the Aladdin songs throughout the video. -Interesting to hear that the Disney Aladdin was inspired by several movies named The Thief Of Bagdad back in 1924 and 1940. -Had to check it and this video was released about two years after Robin Williams's death. Really like how they praise his performance in that movie and how it was James's first impression of Robin Williams that he remembers (while Mike caught some of his comedy routines in the 1980s and his appearances on talk shows like Johnny Carson). -Mike singing part of Yakko's Nations Of The World (kinda coincidental) provides a segue into an interesting discussion about how James missed most of the 1990s TV animation renaissance because he was less into TV and more into movies (horror movies to be exact) and believed in the stigma that animation is for children and him being a teenager for most of the 1990s, he admits that he really missed out on a lot of good TV animation (Mike certainly has taste when he recommends Animaniacs and Tiny Toons to him, especially with them referencing older movies most of the time). -Aladdin, a perfect example of a game with good graphics and good gameplay (unlike Beavis And Butthead which also had good graphics but poopy gameplay). In general, they praise the Disney video games in general for having beautiful graphics most of the time. -Of course, it wouldn't be a James & Mike video without them wondering how the Genie handles the s**t situation in his lamp, blue wrecking balls being compared to blue balls and Flamingo statues looking like balls and a penis. -All that Gilbert Gottfried talk makes me wonder how James would have reacted when someone àt the time would have told him that Gilbert Gottfried would one day be acting in one of his AVGN episodes? -Nothing blows more than fighting a final boss that you have to beat while having him off-screen. -Definitely one of their best videos in a long while. Fun and hilarious discussions, a game that they enjoy and all around a good time to be had.

2 for the money, 1 for the show, here we go! First up, fighters from all over history gather to compete when James & Mike play Eternal Champions for the Sega CD: -A game that James played a censored version of on the Sega Genesis which didn't impress him all that much. Only recently they found out about this Sega CD version which is supposed to be much gorier. -I agree with Mike that the character selection screen sucks because of not giving us the names of the characters and that you have to select a specific one to go to the Options menu below. -Most of the video is summed up with "James & Mike getting various gory overkills" and I have to say that those look far more creative than what was going on in Mortal Kombat at the time. The other fatalities of sorts, the Cine-Kills, are done in CGI for some reason and we only get to see a few but they look at least distinct for the time period as well. The only weakness with the Overkills is that you have to have your opponent in a specific spot on your last hit to trigger it which I imagine to be at least somewhat frustrating. -Overall, it is a fun little video with James & Mike finding a decent fighting game for once besides the big names and having a hoot with all the gore on display. Next up, let us explore a creepy castle that Dracula would probably find cozy when James & Mike play Amnesia: The Dark Descent for the PC: -So, from the overall look, it is an FPS game without the S where you are exploring an ancient castle with various creepy and spooky events taking place while you explore the castle. It appears that there's nothing that really kills you unless James & Mike cut out the parts where they died in this game. It has a really gothic atmosphere which, of course, is alright with James who likes that kind of horror stuff. -That is a good thought: would Dracula actually drink any alcoholic stuff besides wine (since we know that he never drinks wine)? Though I am unsure if he would drink beer like James & Mike imagine. -Things I learned: Mike is majorly freaked out by bugs and couldn't even watch the last part of Creepshow because of it. -Viscera Cleanup Detail...now that sounds like an interestingly creative game (at least more so than Shower With Your Dad Simulator). -Again, it is mentioned that Mike is more the rusher type of gamer while James is more the explorer. -Boy, they sure are awfully eager to find the wine cellar...only to be disappointed when there's not any booze to be found. So sad. -To conclude, an interesting game they play providing some neat points of discussion for James & Mike so I would call this a good episode of their show.

Let's visit a painter who, unlike Bob Ross, made more than some happy little accidents when James & Mike play Layers Of Fear for the PC: -Now that's something somebody should look into: whether James was a moth in his previous life given that he is so drawn to fire in these games. -Geezus, I agree with James that his nightmare was scary. If a creepy man living between the walls suddenly stared at me like that, I would wake up, too. And James & Mike just had to put a jump scare in there. -Having never seen that particular Conan O'Brien segment, I don't know whether them singing a few Minty songs is appropriate for this type of game or not. -This and the previous game they played are something of a genre that I cannot quite figure out: I get that the design and the horror atmosphere and unraveling the mystery is probably the main draws of these type of games but from watching James & Mike playing them, I don't feel like there is any difficult puzzle solving going on and that you apparently cannot die in the regular video game sense in these games. Perhaps they are meant for a different type of gamer clientele than me. I just cannot feel like I would have much fun in these types of games. -Yep, it's confirmed that James is the person who would jump off a cliff if somebody else would do it. -I admit that I do like some of the gameplay (playing a grammophone to "melt" and "restore" a room, having to go back in a square type corridor to make the turn of events go in the correct order, the high-as-heck room where you have to dial the phone with the correct numbers etc.) and seeing James & Mike react to it is fun to watch. -Otherwise, there is not really much to say except to experience it for oneself since most of the enjoyment comes from watching James & Mike explore this house (although they don't read much of the text since Mike wants to rush most of the time). -All in all, an entertaining video for an interesting game to say the least.

Another 2-for-1 special coming at you today!
First up, we have to crown another tournament champion when James & Mike play Street Fighter II for the SNES and the Super Famicom: -After that introduction, it hurts to say that this is not the usual type of video from them. Basically somebody requested them to compare the Ken stage from both SFII versions and see if they can spot the difference. I guess they probably did that because it is kinda an unusual request.
-I wholeheartedly agree, Mike. That scene in City Hunter featuring Jackie Chan as Chun-Li is probably the best Street Fighter II-related scene in all of media.
-Let's watch James operate on a Super Nintendo as well so that they can play a Super Famicom game on it (though he admits that he hates operating on consoles like that).
-And the big mystery for the comparison is...the guy in the blue trenchcoat looks like he is jerking off in the Super Famicom version compared to the SNES version. That's it.
-A cute and fun little video, all in all.
Let's celebrate like it's thriller night when James & Mike play Monster Party for the NES: -A game that Mike declares has perhaps the best cover in the whole NES library with all the different monsters on it (though I think the fact that it is drawn that well also appeals to an artist like Mike). And I kinda doubt that the scribble on the cartridge was written by Hitchcock himself.
-James should always read in-game text in a monotone like that. Though I would have thought that the mighty gargoyle warrior named...Bert...would draw more of a reaction than just an Ernie-like laugh from Mike.
-They definitely get a lot of mileage out of the enemies and the scenery in this game (feet stuck in the ground, trees all made of creepy faces, giant shrimp, samurai warriors that shoot swords out of their dicks, umbrella bats etc.).
-Interesting to hear that someone recommended this to James once as material for an AVGN episode but when James and Mike tried it, it turned out to be a decent game. Sure, eventually they lament about the endurance needed to make it through to the end of a level with no checkpoints but that's not enought to categorize a game as a bad game.
-Eventually, they make it halfway through the game and since they get passwords, they might as well pick it up later. We'll see if that will be the case.
-Overall, another entertaining video featuring them having fun with a good game.

Gotta love being a baby again! I wonder whether James & Mike love it too when they play Among The Sleep for the PC: -Things I learned: Mike can do a really good Baby Sinclair & Edith Bunker impression and both him and James can do a good rendition of the Muppet Babies theme (with James noting that the more obnoxious he can make it sound, the better). -The teddy bear in this game reminds James of Ted: in his opinion, a good movie he really liked. I wonder if that puts him in a minority or a majority? -Never heard the comparison of how a toddler first walks being compared to Godzilla but I guess James kinda has a point there. -Mike really enjoys this game mostly because it is more colorful compared to the two previous games they played and it does something different with the whole playing a baby who has to look for his mommy while incorporating controls that make sense for a toddler (like not being able to run for a long time before having to crawl and having to create platforms to reach and open higher places). Personally, what kinda bugs me along with the two other games is that it feels like you cannot do anything to get killed or get a game over or something which, to me, takes out a bit of tension out of these games (but since I can only go by what I see in these James & Mike videos, perhaps they omitted the parts where you do get killed). -My sister-in-law would probably like this game since she really loves owls. -Overall, another fun video with a look at an interesting game, made entertaining by James & Mike's reactions to it.

What did mum always say: never enter an insane asylum at night. Too bad James & Mike never heeded that warning when they play Outlast for the PC: -Another FPS game with the S, going around a creepy looking place but unlike the previous games, you can actually be definitely killed in this game and have to hide from the creeps out there to get you. Also an interesting game mechanic with the video camera whose night vision you can use to navigate in the dark (but only as long as the battery lasts).
-Have to say, Coffee Dad sounds like one of the least funny twitter accounts I have ever heard about, but if Mike finds it funny, good for him.
-James certainly went to an interesting college that had a basement like that. Luckily for him, when he explored it, he came back alive.
-Gotta love some of their jump scare reactions (especially one bug-eyed one James does at one point).
-The priest reminding them of Mr. Freeze portrayed by Otto Preminger in the 1960s Batman show...or Uncle Fester. Still think George Sanders and Christopher Lloyd respectively were the best performers for that role (the former at least as far as 1960s Batman is concerned).
-Cannot remember whether the Metal Gear Solid Series allowed you to hide in lockers. Mostly remember cardboard boxes.
-I also like that they do a recap of all the Halloween month games they played with them declaring Outlast the best of the modern games they played because of its game play (though they do give praise in various areas for the other games like Layers Of Fear and Among The Sleep as well), mostly that it had a sense of urgency and that you can get killed in the game.
-Overall, another good video with a good game.

Come up, come up, it's another 2-for-1 sale right here today!
First up, let's watch musclebound meatheads in trunks get all over each other when James & Mike play WWF Super Wrestlemania for the Sega Genesis: -Joined by Bootsy (given that this is from Nov. 2016, we should be getting pretty close to his departure point here...a subtle hint in him and Mike being on opposite ends of the couch here?) and Nathan Barnett...or as he is more famously known Keith Apicary (if you are afraid...he is normal here so no annoying lisp or whatever he does in his Keith persona and he is actually pretty bearable).
-Rented the SNES version of this quite a bit when it was out but seeing the wrestler selection here, I would have rather played the Genesis version given it had Shawn Michaels, the British Bulldog etc.. Much rather preferred them over the Legion Of Doom and the Natural Disasters in the SNES version.
-Team Winners and Team Losers...now that's some highly original names here.
-Did the Genesis ever have something like a Four Score for it? That would have probably been good to play the Tag Team modes on there instead of handing over the controllers to the other person like they do here (though there's the question whether, if that exists, it would have supported this game).
-1990's Randy Savage would have probably been mad that they gave him polka dot tights here in this game.
-Not much else otherwise since they spent most of the game eagerly getting into it and having fun with it.
-All in all, a decent episode with Nathan not being as much of a distraction as I thought.
Next up, it's an all-out war between different kinds of monsters when James & Mike do Terrordrome The Game - Rise Of The Boogeymen for the PC: -A fan-made game this time which is essentially a 16-bit, Mortal Kombat-style fighting game pitting various horror movie characters against each other (from more well-known ones like Chucky, Freddy and Jason to more obscure ones like Maniac Cop, Tallman from the Phantasm series and Pumpkinhead from the series of the same name).
-At first, they go mostly for the characters that were not already in Mortal Kombat XL (though they do eventually try out Jason, too) and they actually address later something that I wondered about watching the video...they couldn't find any options to stop the time limit or select different stages, being stuck on having to do their VS battles on the Friday The 13th stage.
-Talking about how this could only be done via a fan-made game because all the characters belonging to different companies...and them probably not coming to an agreement on the profit share. I agree with James here: "50% profit would still be better than 0% profit." Also love that he would rather have them pick a character to win than doing ties like in wrestling all the time.
-Now that could be an interesting game: doing the same type but just with classic horror monsters from the Universal or Hammer library (I am sure James would eat that game up with a spoon).
-I really enjoyed their fights and how close some of them got (in one, either James or Mike, cannot remember who, only had one speck of energy left before delivering the final kill).
-They try the single player mode as well which looks good with the different movie posters and the spliced in cutscenes made up from different movie stills.
-Overall, a very good video watching them having lots of fun with an entertaining game.

It is time to help the hero of legend in his quest to collect the three pendants when James & Mike play The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past for the SNES: -The main reason for playing this game at that time? It was Nov. 21st, 1991 when this game was originally released in Japan so James & Mike figured for its 25th release anniversary (since this first part was uploaded on Nov. 21st, 2016), they could play this on James & Mike Mondays. -This is one of Mike's favorite games while for James, as mentioned in previous videos, this is his most favorite game of all time which he always replies with in chats, at conventions etc.. Most of it has to do with the time it came out at (when he was really into story telling) and the impression it made on him. For the first time in his gaming life, he was really invested in the story and how events happened in this one including miniscule things like the two quarrelling brothers etc. that even today playing it, it makes him happy looking at the graphics, hearing the music and so forth that he can tell that this is for him the best game of all time. -James mentions that, unlike how he usually plays a game, they will rush through it, i.e. not collecting every single heart piece, item etc., emphasized by him saying that normally, he would kill every enemy in a room but here when he can pass them, he passes them. -Love the talk about Zelda games in general like how Mike's experience with people who don't like Zelda usually amounts to "Everything is so cryptic, I got stuck in Level 2 and then I got frustrated and stopped playing". As for Mike, that is actually one aspect that he really likes about Zelda, figuring out the dungeon puzzles and solving riddles and everything since he is pretty big on puzzle games. He also mentions being a fan of The Legend Of Zelda: Wind Waker which not many people like and defending the sailing aspect of it. James mentions that playing Link's Awakening recently inspires him to check out other Zelda games that he has not checked out yet like Wind Waker...or Majora's Mask, so that he can have his own opinion on it. -Yeah, who didn't love going in people's houses and throwing their pots around or mowing down every last bush in Hyrule? -Also like the childhood stories both tell like how James would do photos of him and his friends playing Zelda, putting them in a photo album and then write a story around or the story of how Mike's father made him a Zelda sword and the modifications that would ensue down the line. And the story of the incredulous teacher ("The sword in Legend Of Zelda shoots?!") is still hilarious.- -Interesting to hear them talk about Shigeru Miyamoto's motivation behind making games like Zelda, Mario etc.: to give children the same sense of exploration and fantasy that he had in his childhood when he wandered out in the open to explore. -All in all, a very entertaining video with lots of interesting points of discussion. Looking forward to the next part...

Well, we got sent to the Dark World last time so let's find those missing princesses when James & Mike continue playing The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past for the SNES: -But first, James & Mike gotta talk about the hot new show at the time: Stranger Things. Basically James's opinion of it is that it's...alright. He liked watching it but felt disappointed since everybody told him that it was this super awesome ultramazing show and what he got was not what he thought it would be. Even Mike's explanation of why people think that cannot sway James's opinion.
-Yep, Mike really likes the hookshot weapon, considering it to be the best weapon in any Zelda game ever. Even going through all the weapons in Zelda with James, they find that nothing beats the hookshot (since the ones closest to it, the rods and medallions, have going against them that they consume magic to use them).
-Talking a bit about how the water level in this game is really not that difficult to navigate, compared to the water level in Ocarina Of Time which can be a frustrating experience (kinda reminding them of The Wrath Of Khan for some reason). Never really felt that frustration with that water level when I played it as a child but to each their own. I am more surprised here that they got Zola's flippers just before going to the second Dark World level since usually I thought it was done while you are still searching for the three pendants in the Light World.
-Mike really has to reach about bad Zelda games when he thinks the worst ones are the Zelda CD-i games, the Zelda Game & Watch game and Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland for the Nintendo DS (I thought at first the latter was a joke by him but as it turns out, that was really a game that existed). Of the major ones, he thinks that Spirit Tracks for the Nintendo DS is probably the least impressive. Another point they bring up is that they like the 3-D Zeldas but nothing beats the top-down Zelda games. Regarding the former, while Mike thinks that Ocarina Of Time is the best one of those, James is of the opinion that Twilight Princess is better than that.
-Interesting that you can beat the first Dark World boss with the bombs. I always thought only the hammer shatters that one's mask. Also love how they imagine the second Dark World boss to taste like (since he looks to them like something edible with breaded crumbs).
-Going through some of the side quests, we learn that Mike's interpretation of Zelda would probably be a darker game than what we got here.
-Mike really likes the animation of Link rolling after pulling at the entrance to Level 4 and it is a great gesture of him that he lets James do it.
-OK, now I wonder whether it is that common to do Level 6 before Level 5 just to use the block-creating staff in the latter. When my brother played the game, I definitely remember him going Level 5, then 6...and not remembering him being very frustrated about Level 5 like that.
-So, going to the final princess to be freed next time. I hope that the final one will be just as funny and entertaining as this video was. So far this is a really great multi-part video.

It is now time to defeat Ganon and free the Dark World from his reign when James & Mike finish playing The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past for the SNES: -Holy bleep, one should definitely pack enough magic-refilling potion before heading towards the boss of Level 7...or try not to be as clumsy as James when trying to hit the two heads. -Well, they sure love to use the Bombos medallion to get through rooms full of enemies quickly. -Gotta love their long discussion about what the relation is between Agahnim and Ganon...I think at one point even I was confused about what the hay they were talking about exactly. -That final part where you have to light the torches in order to see and hit Ganon definitely looks like a most frustrating part and both of them get pretty intense into it. -Never heard about that rumor where you can get the Triforce in Ocarina Of Time...makes me wonder what silly things gamers did to make that happen after hearing about it. -There's definitely a point to be made about how the earlier Zelda games were more colorful compared to, as Mike puts it, the more muddy looking later games which is one of the reasons why they go back more often to those. -That's definitely one happy ending you get here where everything is fine. James & Mike definitely earned it after playing the game in one sitting for about 8 hours straight. -While not as interesting as the previous two videos, this was still a decent cap to this multi-part video. One could definitely feel the enjoyment James & Mike have for this game and it led to a very entertaining couple of videos.

Even when you are evil for a long time, if a noble reason calls forward like rescuing your son, you can be a hero too like James & Mike show when they play Abobo's Big Adventure for the PC: -Of course, the title evokes thoughts about how awesome a Pee-wee game would have been for any console.
-At first I thought when they mentioned Super Mario Crossover that that was a legit game by Nintendo but after checking, it turns out that it is also a fan-made game. Though I wonder if there is any truth to it launching the style of games that would lead to official ones like NES Remix and such.
-As it is, it looks like a brutal but really hilarious game. I like especially that they offer a variety of levels and different styles of gameplay (like a Double Dragon game, a Super Mario Bros. underwater stage, a Legend Of Zelda dungeon, Balloon Fight and finally...some wrestling game I cannot remember. Love Abobo's various different rage special attacks, too. And it is really like a "Do you remember where this character is from?" feeling you get and shows how much the makers wanted to appeal to the hardcore NES fans.
-I know how hard it is to play a Jump'n Run-type game with a keyboard...though it makes me wonder why they don't just use a controller to play it since videos in the past have shown them playing PC games with a controller.
-I admit: I am kinda curious what the other results would have been with that mermaid character if you chose anything other than "Mate" (also, Abobo is a terrible father).
-Didn't we all want to do this to Toad at one point during Super Mario Bros.? Also, that is certainly an interesting...dungeon design.
-Typical of Hulk Hogan...letting others do the actual work and then coming in last. Though I am curious about that Thunder In Paradise game they talk about (spoiler: it will come up as a part of this series...as will Goonies II that they also mention).
-Another really fun video again due to the obvious joy James & Mike have playing through this crazy game. And more fun is yet to come!

Moving along in our quest to save Aboboy when James & Mike continue to play Abobo's Big Adventure for the PC: -For the final stages, we hit Mega Man, Contra and finally Punch-Out. Personally, I wouldn't have minded if they threw in a Castlevania, Metroid and Kid Icarus stage in there to hit all the major milestones in the NES library, but this is OK, too. -Kinda wondering whether James & Mike omitted the death ray parts of the Quick Man-like stage or if they were omitted already because the designers thought "Without the Time Stopper, it's no use so let's just not do them." -Love that during the Contra part, they actually allow you to do the Konami code to get more lives (though only after you have lost all your previous lives). -I wonder what Abobo has ever done to Kirby so that the latter not once but twice appears as a boss to make Abobo's life hell. -And on this day, James became a video game master by being able to do diagonal shooting attacks with a keyboard (really love Mike's phone recording showing James playing with crossed arms ). -In general, I really love James & Mike's excitement seeing and naming all the various characters from NES games that appear and having fun with it. -Well, who would've guessed that Little Mac would be the end boss of the game and you have to beat him with the reversed Punch-Out game mechanic, i.e. you play the character on top instead of bottom. -Highlight of the video is definitely James & Mike's hilarious reaction to the killer spree action when Abobo and Aboboy go on a rampage (actually surprised that Mike doesn't mind Scrooge McDuck being one of the victims considering how much he loves Uncle Scrooge) as well as the credits rolling. Normally I would be miffed that they confuse Guybrush Threepwood with being one of the game designers but since they mentioned in an earlier video that they weren't exactly into graphic adventures and Monkey Island was never on the NES, I forgive them. -All in all, one of the funniest 2-part videos they have done with a bats**t insane and hilarious game to go along with their joyous reactions. Darn good!

It has been a bit but it is again time for a 2-for-1 special! First up, we are gonna watch some more fighters battling it out for King Of Fighters glory when James & Mike play Fatal Fury Special for the Neo Geo: -Joined by Nathan Barnett aka Keith Apicary as well as Bootsy for this one again. This one is from Christmas Day 2016 so I am gonna go on a limb here and say that this is probably Bootsy's final appearance on James & Mike Mondays before the less-than-friendly departure took place. -Never was too familiar with the Fatal Fury/KOF line of games (preferred Street Fighter & Mortal Kombat) but it does look like a pretty good fighting game with the bonus of this one taking place on two planes instead of just one. Point deduction are for apparently not being able to stop time and also that it operates on Arcade rules (aka the winner in Vs. mode has to continue with the fighter he won the match with and cannot select a different one). -I certainly would like to see the mod Nathan talks about regarding Mai Shiranui's special move. -So apparently Jubei Yamada vs. Billy Kane is kinda the equivalent of Master Yoshi aka Splinter fighting Donatello in this game. That's good to know. -Easy there with the controllers, guys, since they probably won't fit in James's discarded controller box. -Love the short discussion about the Neo Geo at the end where we learn that Nathan finds Metal Slug better than Contra and a Jump'n Run named Blue's Journey is mentioned (I wonder if we will ever get to that game at some point). At least Bootsy can end it on a positive note by having played a Neo Geo game for the first time now. -Overall, a decent episode. Not as good as the Wrestlemania one but still enjoyable to watch. Aah! They're nerds... and they're playing poker as a video game! (screams and runs off)...Just kidding, it's just James & Mike playing Palamedes for the NES: -Yeah, it is a puzzle game that also plays by poker rules (which are helpfully printed...on the cartridge itself. So I guess you gotta have a top loader type NES for this one). Certainly an interesting idea for a video game. -Of course, Mike really likes puzzle games and he would have probably picked that game up in a heartbeat as a kid if it had a better title. I wonder whether they ever went through with that video idea "Top 10 Worst Game Titles For Good Games" (personally I like the title Palamedes just fine but to each their own). -That's all they have to say about Fuller House? "Did you watch it?" "Yes." "OK."...Kinda disappointing since I first hoped they would talk more about it. -The summary of commentary for this game: "Yeah." Though I like that they always appear to have fun playing these competitive puzzle games against each other. -Not much to say otherwise, another decent episode to watch.

OK, with the above Fatal Fury Special episode, I have reached the halfway point in this show (at least according to the playlist). I pretty much enjoy doing this every day and looking forward to continue moving forward, I just want to use the halfway point for a brief announcement: -I will continue doing it how I have done it so far despite it meaning that I won't be finished by February when James & Mike plan to resume their show. Even if I do three vids a day, I still won't be catching up and, besides, I much rather prefer to do it at the pace I have been going. Moving forward, it will be more one episode a day since at around this time, James & Mike's episodes became longer and shorter episodes became the exception. I plan to turn this into a general James & Mike Mondays thread when I am caught up (no matter how long that might take) so when the thread's name changes, that's when some of you know that I have caught up. Thank you for your time.

Get your raspberry blowing technique up to speed and practice your "meep-meep"s when James & Mike play Road Runner for the NES: -So, the title of the video says "unlicensed NES" but they mention that it was made by Tengen which is a fairly well-known company and they don't mention anything about its unlicensed status in the video, so what is the status of this game really?
-I remember that we actually had the SNES Road Runner game and I agree with their opinion: great graphics but the controls bucking blew and even my brother who was better at video games only could make it to the second world before giving up. Definitely one of the miss-buys we did back then. Makes me wonder if them hinting that all Looney Tunes games had great graphics but poopy controls is true.
-Though I definitely agree with them that the Road Runner cartoons were awesome and I loved to watch them. For some reason in Germany we had a Looney Tunes compilation show specifically for Speedy Gonzalez and Road Runner shorts which was good though because I could always look forward to a Road Runner short in there (which was not that high a possiblity with the other Looney Tunes compilation show that did the more famous characters).
-They bring up the Ralph Wolf/Wile E. Coyote comparison...yet seem to think that both are the same characters. I don't know, I don't get what they are aiming at there (except that there appeared to be a pretty good Looney Tunes game on the Sony Playstation dealing with sheep).
-Love the variety of topics they go through like Chuck Jones's analysis of the Wile E. Coyote character, other famous chasing duos (bringing up Pixie & Dixie & Mr. Jinks with James admitting that he once thought that dixie cups were named after the Dixie in those shorts) as well as various Hanna-Barbera characters (even mentioning that Grape Ape might have been the inspiration for S**tpickle).
-Why are you grinning, Mike? Those are not that kind of seed!
-And yeah, the game definitely looks like it blows pretty much with the seeds not filling you up as much until you get stuck, making it pretty hard to make progress. At least with the SNES game you have pretty graphics to look at...not so much here. Love Mike's indignation at the end where he confuses the Level indicator with his Life indicator.
-Overall, a good video with some entertaining discussion.

Well, let's blast process through this thing when James & Mike play Sonic The Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Genesis: -According to James, this is his favorite Sega Genesis game of all time. That much becomes evident through the video. -That's an interesting and useful set-up James had as a child: himself having the Nintendo consoles while knowing a friend that has all the Sega consoles. That way they could try out all the cool games on each other's systems (despite the friend having lots of the Genesis sports games which James had no interest in). I wonder if that's the same friend from the Sega Master System incident some videos ago. -Dr. Eggman, the Sonic villain & Egghead, the 1960s Batman villain...yeah, I can get why one would confuse them. -Now, looking at them playing the game, I cannot tell if James & Mike suck at the 2-player mode or if the 2-player mode in Sonic 2 is really poopy where the one playing as Sonic is so fast that the one playing Tails is always behind, not getting to do much. But I agree with James that the game looks pretty great. -I would definitely love to see a 10-part Sonic '06 James & Mike Mondays by them! I imagine that would be pretty fun to watch. -Oh you two are so immature, fooling around with the idling animations like that. -Something that gets brought up by Mike here in that he mentions being a bit sad that playing A Link To The Past recently meant no Zelda reference that time. I wonder if that is the origin of their recurring "Zelda Reference!" joke they used from time to time. Have to look for that in the videos to come to see if that is correct. -Kinda wondering if those hoops are a false friend or if you can really reach them and if yes, what do they do? -You heard it here: Sonic 2 enables your path to develop a gambling addiction (at least James's favorite stage, the Casino stage). -As someone who has never played any of the Sonic games (having never possessed a Sega console), the one criticism I would have are the rather repetitive boss fights where it's just Eggman in a new vehicle every time and the boss fights not looking that complicated. A bit more variety in the end bosses would have looked better. -Overall, another fun video and looking forward for the continuation.

But then switched over to making unlicenesed games. Pretty sure Road Runner is one of the ones that was Unlicensed. Tengen was basically Atari under a different name. This video explains it better than I can. 2.Bugs Bunny's Crazy Castle and Birthday Blowout on the NES have good controls. And the first Tiny Toons games on the NES and the Gameboy have good controls. 3.As a kid I thought Ralph Wolf and Wile were the same person. But once I was 7 or so realized they were different.

We have to persevere to save all the animal critters from roboticization when James & Mike continue playing Sonic The Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Genesis: -As you may have noticed from the thumbnail of the last video already, now comes a time where the thumbnails consisted of title cards drawn for these episodes. Cannot tell if Mike did them or not but I really like 'em (probably am one of the few people who misses Mike doing title cards for the AVGN episodes). -Yeah, bonus stages that cause you to virtually lose all your health suck so I can understand James not wanting to do them for the rest of the game. -So you are playing Sonic The Hedgehog 2...seems like the perfect spot to get into a Three Stooges discussion, doesn't it? Love how it started off from a Seth Rogen project about the console wars (was such a movie ever finished or was it abandoned eventually) to the perfect movie being Seth Rogen just watching James's video about the console wars while doing pot and going to the Three Stooges from there. I wonder if James's opinion that the Moe/Larry/Shemp line-up was the best is considered a blasphemous one in the Three Stooges fandom? Of course, we also get the Joe Besser bashing and James feeling like Curly Joe DeRita was a bit insulting to the original Curly's legacy. -Having a stage looking like the Emerald City brings us to Oz, namely Mike's love for that universe and also talking about the 2013 Oz The Great And Powerful movie. Looking it up, it received mixed reviews and while not a box office bomb, its profit was less than expected so there went the possibility of further Oz movies with James Franco. -Doing several bosses on 0 or 1 ring and still beating them...impressive (although that's probably more due to Tails's helping). -Speaking of it, from looking at it, this seems to be among the worst 2-player modes ever created. I mean the one playing Sonic always outruns the second player controlling Tails so the computer has to automatically send Tails to Sonic's current location, the Tails character is apparently invincible for the most part (since a Game Over only occurs when Sonic loses all his lives)...and Tails doesn't even factor in the two final stages of the game where it becomes a 1-player game essentially. That sucks (not to mention the crab robot part where Tails doesn't even reappear). -I think when I originally watched this video some three years ago, that's when I first learned the joke behing the Miles Prower name as well. -OK, a plane, one of the final bosses being Mecha Sonic...was this the inspiration for the Sonic OVA aka the 1999 Sonic movie? -To conclude, another very good episode with engaging discussions both about and not about the game, making this another classic James & Mike 2-parter.

A rarity in this part of the show's run...a 2-for-1 special! First up, ever want to know what James & Mike think is the worst stooge? Now's your chance! -Basically, it is an extended cut of their Three Stooges discussion from the previous vid, so it is nothing you haven't seen for the most part except them going into a bit of a discussion on why people who think Joe Besser is better than Moe are so wrong it hurts. -Otherwise, nothing much. If you want a cute discussion without having to watch that annoying playthrough, here you go. Next up, let's see Russian justice be executed when James & Mike play Ivan Drago Justice Enforcer for the PC: -An older fan-made game coming out in 2005/06 being more of a Double Dragon type game instead of a pure boxing game (and also rather short going by James & Mike's comments). I could see this game being much more elaborate if it would have been done today. -Well, both would get their wish when a few months after this episode (Jan. 30th, 2017), official shooting for Creed II started. Given their enjoyment of the Rocky movies on display here, I wonder what they thought about that movie. -Darn, I think even the Abobo game wasn't as brutal as allowing you to kill innocent women and mothers with strollers. -What a shame, game crash caused by a lasso-whirling rhinestone cowboy. -At least, they made to the boss fights at the end and got to fight Rocky in a wheelchair before getting a game over (another shame as I really wanted to see Mickey's ghost as the final boss). -Overall, another decent video featuring an outthere game.
