What a bizarre run. I can understand bringing back a old guy with name value or someone who had a lot left(Finlay) but other than tagging with Regal the guy was out of place. He was never a star and was out of his prime I wonder what they were thinking.

This was an odd time. I remember at one point in this Era nearly the entirety of Smackdown's roster was former WCW guys, and they had the World Heavyweight, US, and Cruiserweight titles. Was almost that WCW brand they wanted back in 01.

Believe at the time he was a trainer for DSW and his run was more of a thank you run, but also to work with young guys getting called up and get them used to the main roster

I liked his team with Regal.

I remember that he was a part of the infamous Nasty Boys tryout that failed to get them a job.... they went long and took liberties on Taylor and Drew Mcintyre

I kinda liked him, even if he was an anachronism of sorts.

I'd love to see photos of Nasties in WWE in 07.

I remember my teenage self editing his Wikipedia page to say he was released for throwing eggs at Vince's mansion. That's pretty much my only memory of him.

2009's King of Trios w/ Bryan and Claudio is the one thing I instantly think of when talking about this dude! e: Man, this is good ol' classic w(rest) of wrestling talk these days! So cool.

I didn’t know of his WCW past in 2006 so I just thought he was rather bland really. I’m struggling to think of much he did other than being in that ladder match where Joey Mercury broke his face.

Didn't he pin Bobby Lashley, on the same night Tatanka got his revenge on the white man by beating up a black man lol

The whole angle was that Tatanka kept getting dudded by heels rolling him up with their feet on the ropes or holding the tights and the referees kept missing it until Tatanka cracked the shits and punched one of them in the face.

Nice to see him get a final run. Maybe they thought it worked out so well with Finlay that they could get the same results from Dave Taylor?

I imagine Smackdown also benefited from his additional ability to custom-alter their Daves on set (without having to send them to the costume/sewing department)... but given that the only other Dave on Smackdown at the time was Batista, its not surprising his tenure wasn't longer.

I know they aren't the sharpest spoons in the drawer, but...

I know they aren't the sharpest spoons in the drawer, but... They brutally attacked Ken Shamrock from behind in the 80s and continued to brag about it for like a decade. Shamrock finally shut them up by confronting them at an airport in the late 90s. They pussied out. The two of them are absolute trash.

Regal and Taylor as a tag-team of asshole old guys is a great idea, resenting younger handsomer wrestlers and taking out their bitterness with violence. Hell, team 'em with Finaly and maybe even Tatanka too, and make a big storyline out of it. The WWE just didn't commit.

Road Warrior Animal, Regal, Taylor, Finlay, Tatanka and Jim Duggan were all under contract for WWE at basically the same time and it blows my mind. Like I think it was weird when those guys would pop up in late 90s WCW, let alone mid 2000s WWE.
Edit: Not only that I just remembered that Flash Funk and Henry Godwin both got signed to developmental deals around the same time. So weird.
