Good review of what was a pretty damn good show. I didn't see it but definitely saw highlights on the RAWs after.

I have a soft spot for this show. I was just a kid during the Attitude Era, but I still remember how big the Undertaker vs. Austin match felt. I could be misremembering, but I swear I remember even seeing a billboard advertising it here.

So you know how people always say that Triple H was never over really in DX he just had rubbed-off overness from other people
What exactly was the infamously mean-spirited New York crowd doing during this ladder match? Because it sure as shit sounded like cheering for Triple H

My main memories of this PPV are renting it and never being able to get the tracking right. Then when I had the DVD, my dog sat on the end of the bed, watched D’Lo v. Val Venis in it’s entirety and then went to sleep.
To this day, it’s the only TV she’s ever watched and she’s 12. Guess she either felt that’s as good as TV can be or it put her off TV forever.

Oddities vs. Kai-En-Tai was just for four Japanese workers to bump off two incompetent giants and have John Tenta do the actual workmate.

Brian Zane is great if he'd just drop the star rating system, and back off a bit on work rate. I love his historical knowledge, but at times he is too much of a smart mark even if he has been in the business. Its hypocrisy on a site like FAN, but I can't stand people who shit on guys for work rate when the guy in question is obviously over as hell. If you say guys like Jim Dugan, and JYD couldn't work worth a shit then you've forgotten what the wrestling business is all about. Putting asses in seats bottom line.

So you’re saying he shouldn’t say his opinion on someone because a guy made money? Because that’s a strange leap of logic to have. If someone’s work doesn’t work for him, it shouldn’t matter how much money they made.

You could also say that about the "tank" moment as well. It's not the ratings game changer that WWE will hype it up to be on documentaries, and the fact that Raw won the first ratings victory in 83 weeks has more to do with the Austin vs. McMahon match later in the show. However, there definitely was a spectacle in D-X stirring up trouble among the WCW fans waiting in front of the arena where Nitro was held, particularly since this was around the time D-X pivoted from facing babyfaces like LOD 2000 to heels like The Nation despite not having a hard turn.
