So let's pretend briefly that that tragic event of May 1999 never happened and Owen Hart is still alive and well and still Wrestling for WWF in the year 2000.
A lot of talented guys made their debut for the Company that year and no doubt if given the chance could have had some excellent matches with Owen.
The main 5 for me would be Y2J/Angle/Benoit/Guerrero/Malenko. I think any of these would have stolen whatever show they were on if going up against Owen.
If I had to pick just 1 I personally would probably say Eddie. Though that is a tough choice.
Outside of these choices.. Perhaps Perry Saturn and Tazz.
If we move to the later half of the year where William Regal and Raven joined the company there were some potentially decent feuds there too.
So which would have appealed to you personally as a fan?

You cannot have a proper discussion of this without speculating about a feud or angle with Benoit.
The two were close friends in real life; it would not be a stretch to say that every match they'd have would be a clinic as well as a classic. Were they both under one promotion during the late 1990s, I have no doubt that both would be alive today (or, if we were to lose Benoit, it would be under far more comforting circumstances and both would be in the WWE Hall of Fame.)

Jericho in the Dark Side of the Ring episode made a good point about how Owen would have likely had a career renaissance in 2000 or so due to the talent coming into WWF. I would have loved to have seen him against Kurt Angle, Eddie or Jericho.

I read this rumor back in 99, had Yokozuna got his weight under control, Owen would like him to come back and tag up with him. Maybe if that happened, a Camp Cornette reunion, with Yokozuna losing the weight required, and Bulldog as their manager while injured. They feud with the Radicalz and DX and at some point Bulldog turns on them and he becomes Benoit's manager.

Maybe if that happened, a Camp Cornette reunion, with Yokozuna losing the weight required, and Bulldog as their manager while injured. They feud with the Radicalz and DX and at some point Bulldog turns on them and he becomes Benoit's manager. One would be hard-pressed to imagine Davey Boy in any scenario involving any member of the Hart family after he and Diana divorced; he had essentially run off with Bruce's wife. Now, it's possible that the alternate timeline of Owen not dying as he did might impact many other relationships even only tangentially related to Owen and his pool of opponents, but the role of Davey Boy in anything Hart-related is one of those we can really only guess at. Perhaps Owen doesn't die, Diana doesn't go off the deep end with the lawsuit BS along with Ellie, Davey doesn't feel so conflicted by the stunt-pulling and thus doesn't start the affair with Bruce's wife....who knows how much on the skids that marriage was before Owen died? EDIT: I realize I may have gone down a rabbit hole here, but I think it's important to note that a) nobody knows how Owen would have felt about Davey Boy after that (had Owen lived), and b) few would be able to guess the extent to which that breakup would have been handled in the locker room. Bret may have been more than capable of compartmentalizing relationships with brothers-in-law as separate from those with his sisters, but Owen might not have been. Anyway, to return to regularly-scheduled programming, a reunion with Cornette and Yoko might not have been in the cards for Owen - not in WWE, anyway. Cornette had been quite clear over the years about never wanting to work under Vince and Dunn again. Owen might have been prepping for a last decent singles run (made possible with the Radicalz, etc. jumping from WCW), but he was also contemplating retiring once his WWF contract ran out. This isn't merely a thread, though, it's a web.

Seriously? Most of those. Seconded. As much as I believe Owen still wouldn't have been elevated to the main event scene, he would have made a great gatekeeper for all the talent coming into the company at that time.

Everyone.
Owen/Jericho, Owen/Benoit, Owen/Angle for sure. Owen/Saturn, Owen/Eddie, Owen/Malenko, Owen/Crash Holly, Owen Hart/Edge/Christian/both Hardys Owen v Brock? Owen v Cena? I think he'd have got a good chemistry with Big Dave too. Owen v Punk? Owen v Bryan for sure.
Theres genuinely hundreds of them... all lost.

From a wrestling standpoint...there is no wrong answer. Though in terms of entertaining storylines, I feel that Jericho, Angle, and Regal could offer the most entertaining storyline/mic play while still putting on bangers. Owen works best when there's some goofiness, and obviously the three I've mentioned have got the chops.

Of the guys listed, I feel like him and Kurt would make the most matches/segments that I'd like. Even them as a doofus heel tag team would be amazing.
But of the people no listed, I would love to have seen a feud between him and Mysterio. Making a point of how Owen was a flippy, innovative guy, and either can't be that guy anymore or detests what he used to be over time.

If we are fantasizing, give him 20 minutes to stretch Regal and vice versa.
Realistically he wasn't getting that kind of time to work without Kurt ir a Chris of some sort.

Was going to say Undertaker as a joke but then I felt awful and sad.
Jericho is spot on about the crop of exciting guys coming in for him to wrestle with, if he stayed active at least.

Owen as Vince’s guy going against Flair in 2002 would have been pretty interesting to see.

A face Owen against a heel Austin in 2001 would've been really interesting.

I could see him feuding with and/or becoming a member of team ECK/RECK.
