Evolve, WXW, ICW and Progress Content Coming Saturday

Starting this Saturday, the best independent promotions in the world are coming to WWE Network.

EVOLVE, PROGRESS Wrestling from England, Germany’s wXw and Scotland’s ICW will debut for subscribers to the award-winning streaming service, giving the WWE Universe the chance to see some of their favorite Superstars like never before. And this is just the beginning! You’ll continue to see footage from their libraries, as well as new and exciting content from all of these promotions on WWE Network in the weeks and months to come.

The first drop features a pair of compilations highlighting two of WWE and NXT’s top stars, along with full shows from each promotion.

The Best of Drew McIntyre in EVOLVE features the WWE Champion in action before his 2017 return to the company. You’ll see McIntyre in thrilling matches against the likes of Ricochet, Johnny Gargano, Roderick Strong, Aleister Black and Matt Riddle.

The Best of Keith Lee in EVOLVE features the NXT Champion coming into his own before making the jump to the black-and-gold brand. In this compilation, The Limitless One takes on Timothy Thatcher, WALTER and Riddle. The special also features a pair of early battles against his rival and close friend, Dominik Dijakovic.

Fans will get a look at Germany’s wXw and see different styles of combat on display. wXw AMBITION 11 is a one-night, smash-mouth tournament featuring NXT UK Champion WALTER and Timothy Thatcher setting out to punish the competition. Also featured from the wXw library is a one-night, all-women’s tournament, Femmes Fatale 2019.

PROGRESS Wrestling has been hailed as the jewel of the British independent scene, having catapulted Superstars like Pete Dunne, Mark Andrews, Flash Morgan Webster, Toni Storm and Grizzled Young Veterans onto a worldwide platform. PROGRESS Chapter 92 is highlighted by a hard-hitting battle for the PROGRESS Championship between WALTER and Ilja Dragunov.

The WWE Universe will also be introduced to the Scottish underground with Insane Championship Wrestling. Night 2 of Shug’s Hoose Party 5 sees WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett take over as commissioner for the evening, NXT UK’s Piper Niven in action, as well as viral video sensation Grado.

And Progress, to be honest. It wasn't quite the same as ICW, but they haven't exactly covered themselves in glory in the way they responded to the allegations made. The stuff going up isn't the best example of how exciting those companies once were either, both shows are from when both companies were on a downturn creatively. Unless they're just the shows with the fewest alleged sex pests involved or something.

And saying "giving the WWE Universe the chance to see some of their favorite Superstars like never before" as if these are seriously obscure deep underground promotions? Come on.

At the very least, they’re doing more to at least make a change and put down solid restrictions down and hired the safeguarding officer full time yesterday that helped set those up.

Whether they keep to those, that’s completely fair to be cynical about and I don’t blame anyone for either not believing it’ll change or waiting a long time to judge but it’s why I didn’t put them in the same bracket.

To be honest I didn't know about Progress' safeguarding officer, I've completely checked out from what they're doing for the past couple of months. I'm the least excited I've been about Britwres in ages and ages, which makes all of this feel all the more weird.

WWE still allows (but doesn't advertise the fact) complete versions of shows with CHRIS BENOIT.

And yes, it didn't take SpeakingOut to make us learn that this business is filled with shite people, or at least ones with skeletons in their closets.

I actually think that comparing Benoit to the SpeakingOut scenario is disingenuous.

The majority of the people spoken out about engaged in years, sometimes decades-long systemic abuse of sometimes multiple people. They were powerful people taking advantage of their power to take advantage of people.

Benoit's brain was ruined and he killed himself and exactly two other people while clearly out of his mind. The people on this list, while in their right minds for the most parts, don't get that justification.

I’m starting to think there should be a thread about the actual subject and then a separate thread about why the subject is problematic. Came here to see if maybe people were recommending matches and just talk about the content itself and instead it’s entirely the Speaking Out movement, the Saudi government, and Chris f***ing Benoit. I guess I’m one of those crazy assholes who desperately tries to turn to wrestling for escapism then I’m endlessly bombarded with why said wrestling is problematic instead. Yes, I get why wrestling sucks and all the people in it suck and why each company sucks and how they’re all problematic in their own unique sucky ways. I’m aware. But regardless, sometimes I still just wanna talk about the actual wrestling itself, guilt free.
