It’s actually coming out at a good time, between 2 big R-rated movies in Scream and John Wick. It’ll be the family/teen choice for a few weeks. Before a certain red hat wearing plumber and his green hat wearing brother arrive in theaters for the 1st time in 30 years

Alright, so if the movie fails, can I just blame it on the lack of Michelle Borth?

One of the post-credit scenes just takes the cake {Spoiler}We really could have just gotten the Mr. Mind sequel the entire time as they spend a few minutes setting him and Sivana up again

Has a 66% on Rotten Tomatoes so far, which while still positive does feel rather worrying after the first one was 90%, especially since movies usually have nowhere to go but down after the initial reviews.

I'll be pretty surprised if that doesn't slide a bunch further.
Think it's going to open soft and fade fairly regular, not epic drops but not a hot enough reception to boost it significantly.

A theater down the road from where I train Jiu Jitsu has a matinee showing for 5 bucks directly after my class; so I'll go sit under the ac w a soda nor expecting much except 5 dollars worth of entertainment.

Bummer that this isn't getting a good reception so far. The first one was a blast.

I'd like to go see it this weekend myself but the car's down so I'll probably need to wait for next week.

I just got home from it. I enjoyed it well enough. No, it's not as good as the first, hard to expect something to meet that level, but it still made me laugh a fair deal and had a few emotional moments. They spoiled something in the trailers I wish they hadn't, but all in all, y'know.
The first trailer they showed was Little Mermaid, then they had the next Across the Spiderverse movie, Ruby Gilmore: Teenage Kraken, Dungeons and Dragons, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the new Fast & Furious movie, a couple of others, and I thought for sure they'd end with The Flash trailer, but nope. Flash was second to last, and the final trailer they aired was Barbie's, hahaha.
Just checked twitter and there is still a lot of Black Adam chatter mixed in with the Shazam talk, which is oddly hilarious to me. These people are begging for egos to be put aside so future projects can happen lol. ok

Now expected to make just $30 million over the weekend. Less than Morbius made.

Really I think it mostly boils down to the Dark Phoenix problem, the studio's already publicly signaling that this movie doesn't matter so why care about it?
That said I still intend to see it, probably Monday.

It's not very good.
Not bad by any stretch, but a huge step down from the first.
Square in the middle of ok
See either a matinee or wait for HBO.

Have to wonder how the Shazam movies would have gone had the Rock been more co-operative and okayed appearing in them as a villain to lend his star power and build up to his own movie. But he didn't, so here we are, a movie tied to a flop universe, following a flop movie starring someone who was supposed to poop box office gold, put out by a studio run by a rabid gibbon with a lead actor who seemed to be going out of his way to be unlikable on social media, all but ensuring that it would flop.
