Feeling more optimistic than usual about Crystal Palaces season. Yeah, end of the season was rough, but there was basically nothing to play for after avoiding relegation. This year there's some extra excitement with signing of Eze, loan of Batshuayi (soon to be announced) and (from what I've seen in friendlies) some more expansive attacking play.

Yeah Sterling is (Rashford too!). Always viewed him as more adaptable as a midfielder/forward than Salah or Mane, who have been almost exclusively utilised as part of a front three. Obviously they can be played out as a winger as well (Salah was a winger when at Chelsea) but their Liverpool formation feels like a forward role which they've never really strayed from, and with bloody good reason.
I honestly expected us to stumble against Fulham but I’m happy we didn’t concede.
I also didn’t expect the Gabriel/Willan connection start so quickly.
Fellow Gooner here.
Gabriel was excellent today, all things considered. It's so refreshing to see such a powerful looking presence at centre-back, something we haven't had for many years. Sokratis is a hardnut lump but not very tall and Mertesacker was tall but gangly. Other centre half's we've had have been either good or terrible but not physically imposing like Gabriel. Saliba is built the same too so it will be fascinating to see them play alongside each other.
Willian is a class act. Such a wonderful acquisition, if only for a couple of years.
Quietly optimistic about our chances for the season, as long as the team stay away from that f***ing injury table that kills us every season.
