And really it's not like Roman has a wonderful title track record in his own right. He's had four previous title reigns and all he has to show for it in terms of defending the title on PPV are being beaten by Sheamus immediately, a Royal Rumble he napped through 90% of, a Hell in a Cell ending in a no contest, two AJ Styles matches - the former of which was plagued with fakeout finishes and had the rematch announced immediately after it rendering the whole thing entirely pointless, and a match with Seth.

I’m so down for our new heel god Roman. It works on so many levels - just a shame we don’t get some real live mega heat from a crowd

Ok yeah the shirt and all is 100% a rip off but the actual attitude and concept of it goes back to Roman's original SHIELD characterization anyways, so I'd argue this is just Roman going back to his established basics. I'm more just making jokes I don't have much of a problem with the idea right now... wrecking ball douche Roman is pretty much what he should have turned into like... 4-5 years ago. Honestly, I feel like we are in the exact inverse of the conditions that led to Roman’s unpopularity to begin with. Back when Roman was ascending you the main event, he was competing for the top spot with the returning Daniel Bryan, peak popularity Dolph Ziggler fresh off Survivor Series, Dean Ambrose who had completely outshined Roman coming out of the Shield breakup, and even Ryback who returned to being the wrecking ball babyface. All were better options as the top babyface to oppose Brock, but he got the spot despite not really having many singles matches to date, and it boiled over at the Rumble in impressive fashion. But now in 2020, we are in a situation where the top talent in the Smackdown main event consists of Braun Strowman, who the shine has completely come off of and is a wreck character wise. We have The Fiend, which is a popular character, but works best as a heel people love, instead of directly portraying h as a face. And then there’s Roman, who is far better of a talent than he was in 2014, and is a real life hero who conquered leukemia and refused to put his wife and kids in danger when the pandemic hit, only returning when WWE started implementing widespread testing and involving fan interaction. He’s the best choice for a main event level babyface, but now they want to do the things that could have saved him years ago? I just don’t get it.

Why the f*** does everyone pretend his vest was this abomination? Also, this should have been done half a decade ago. It's not so much that it's an abomination. Moreso that it was just a sign of a lack of development. When the Shield broke up the first time, both Rollins and Ambrose moved on in their own ways, including with their gear and music. Meanwhile, somehow Roman stays with the vest and music, stuck in that mode. Sure, it worked for Bret Hart post Hart Foundation (the tag team, not the later stable), but it doesn't always lead to major success (look at Marty Jannetty, discounting his personal problems). The vest was a sign of stagnation on his character, and that (at least for me) is why it should have been taken out of his look a while back.

I’m not going to pretend that Roman would be a bad heel, he looks comfortable playing a straight forward badass, but IMO he could have also been that I-don’t-give-a-crap character and a champion as a good guy had they not Luger’ed him so much.
All I can say is; I hope a Big E main event run is in the near future, because the shows really do feel imbalanced on the hero/villain scale lately.

Not out here cosplaying the attitude of every other top star. I mean you say that ... but... >_> >_> His "Aggressively Disregard Fright" shirt is nothing like Austin's "f*** Fear" shirt though

But seriously folks, this is the most I've been interested in Roman in like...well, ever.
At least it's something different.

First time I've found Roman interesting in years.
Hope they don't screw it up.

Why the f*** does everyone pretend his vest was this abomination? Also, this should have been done half a decade ago. Someone else already nailed it, but it was just the stagnation of his character. He was in the Shield. And he’s been The Shield tribute act for the X years following their breakup. Rollins developed and moved on. Ambrose developed and moved on. Reigns was forever stuck and just felt forever stale because of it.

Man... I was so ready to be thrilled for this but the stank of his music and gear still lingers strong. I hyped myself up for too much. They're calling it the Pavlovian BIG DOG reaction

I was in denial about him turning heel at first. When he didn’t show up In the beginning of the Uv title match, i knew what he was gonna do. The signing of the contract mid Match was kind of hilarious. The whole thing feels so surreal after 15 years of refusing to turn both Roman and Cena

You know what? I'm gonna say it.
Let him hold the title for 505 days. Make him the longest reigning champion, instead of Brock Lesnar.

This is $$$$$$. If they book it right (I know, I know) they could tell a great story with Reigns murdering Kofi and Big E stepping up after that.

Now that they've turned Roman finally, Cena is back to being the biggest top guy alignment blunder they've ever had in the long run. Dude coulda been so much bigger with the fanbase (and we could have avoided chasing off such a large swath of that fanbase) if they didn't force his face run for so long and just gave everyone what they wanted.

Or Cena making excuses to not turn heel Roman legit could been face his entire career with overcoming cancer and what he is doing for those like him and his work with kids but at the end of the day he can still do both and play a character on TV

Cena will get his win back from Roman, redeem his character after the Funhouse, AND break Flair's record at 'Mania.

I think pairing Heyman with Reigns is a mistake when Drew McIntyre is on RAW. Drew's perfect for Heyman.
