2020 Vince would probably try to stop 2003 The Rock from going to Hollywood. What they did is actually dumber - Rock was open to continuing to hang around but WWE opted not to renew his contract because they thought he'd fail then come crawling back at a lower rate. Then 10 years later, Triple H and Stephanie told Batista to his face they weren't interested in booking him in the summer of 2014 because Guardians of the Galaxy was going to be a huge bomb.

Yeah. The wrestlers just have to take a page from the Brock playbook and use the courts. Just do their streams and what not anyways, and take Vince to court if he does anything drastic.

They probably should have promoted it anyway because, well, ratings bump and all that.

If I could be a fly on the wall in one room in wrestling history I'd be sorely tempted to opt for, "Pffft, Okay Dave, good luck with Guardians of the Galaxy, see you in a few months rofl".

"Independent contractors." I hope someone with enough of a bankroll gets sick of this shit and fights them on it in court And tells them to go f*** themselves (that’s the correct legal term of art) when they offer a settlement

]How can WWE ''own'' the real names of talent? The same way they can dictate how talent act and dress in their downtime; they can't, but nobody wants to go through the expense of legal action to fight them on their BS. The moment a talent does get a lawyer involved, they will back down as this is not the hill they want the independent contractor lie to die on.

Get ready, Vince is gonna make a big announcement about this new policy tonight on Tout. Oh wait... Not really related to the subject at hand but people mock this but... from what I remember the WWE made a lot of money off of tout... they bought in for the short term and sold off at a profit.

I think they finally stopped saying X is going to bomb... but I'm sure when Eternals gets close to releasing we'll see all sorts of think pieces on why it's going to. still a dick move to do to a friend.

This is but a step on the death of the WWE. No hyperbole, they’ll cease to exist within 15 years.....maybe sooner.

Yeah but the main reasoning behind a lot of the worry was that Marvel was marketing the movie as literally just "This is a Marvel movie" and it was packed full of presences with no name value. I don't feel like Steph was concerned that Peter Quill was too obscure a name to carry a movie franchise and that unless they brought in a bigger cosmic Marvel powerhouse like Silver Surfer, the movie was going to fail to attract casual audiences. They hit on something other people were saying, but without any of the justification or reasoning, and while also burying the possibility of lining up some promotional work with Disney

Hey, he reads the articles about Shane’s failing Chinese company just for the amusement of him now outranking one of Vince’s children.

Just when I think Vince can't out-stupid himself.
Of course he should suffer a bevy of backlash over this, but somehow he'll escape unscathed, probably by blaming Paul Heyman or something. I dunno.
This will be interesting to see either talent: retaliate until Vince changes his original statement, or he holds firm and shit hits the fan or the talent acquiesce because the paycheck is worth more.

I knew this would happen once Vince found out about Linda's Onlyfans account. Vince is gonna corner that market too. Coming soon, WWE's own service similar to OnlyFans. OnlySlams.

This just isn't the thing you do when you're on top of shit and confident in your goings on. Whether it's due to somethign Vince is afraid of, or because he's deteriorating and mismanaging the company on his way down, nothing about this is indicative of a healthy company, and it either sees big changes in the coming years, or it sees a grave.

I feel like Vince is still butthurt that Dwayne Johnson made more money off his real name then his WWE name.

I had a thought about this and if it's what ends up happening, then it's kind of a sinister genius. Vince lays down this edict knowing it will cause uproar among the roster. This will obviously be a hot button topic that will lead to meetings next week at Raw and Smackdown and NXT between management and talent. The blowback online has been big already, if not from the talent, at least from fans. What if this was Vince's plan all along? So now when Monday comes along and these meetings happen, and Vince agrees to roll back some of the demands. So talent can still do Cameo and Twitch and Youtube and all that stuff, but they can't stream with someone not wrestling for the company anymore or have to make sure the guest is someone approved by WWE(which is likely what Vince ACTUALLY wants) and that they not say anything that makes them or WWE look bad(which are very common demands in these situations). It's a compromise that Vince manipulates. Talent get to keep doing their thing and Vince gets to look like an understanding boss. I really doubt Vince now a days is even capable of playing that level of 4D chess with the roster , but I do hope/think that fans and the wrestlers online/backstage make enough noise that Vince makes a U-turn on this call.
