Punk, dick that he is, has a good point. Call their bluff. Want out of your contract because you're miserable? Open a twitch stream. Jado, Gedo, and Tony Khan are all probably on a group call right now laughing their asses off at this and waiting to see who they can get on a firesale. Seriously. Is Vince really going to fire Asuka, Adam Cole, and the New Day all at once while AEW is salivating at the prospect? New Day would fit right in with a trios division if AEW did one. Asuka would slip right into the AEW women's division no problem. Adam Cole with Heel Britt would be money. Even thinking of other talent that I think streams... -Orton is probably set for life and could tell Vince to piss up a rope and retire. I could also see him as basically being a more mobile and better version of Jericho in AEW. -AJ could probably go back to New Japan in a heartbeat. Those are two BIG names that as much as Vince would like to pretend otherwise, would hurt to lose over something as stupid as this new policy. It's not 2006 anymore when WWE and LOLTNA were the only options. Before the pandemic, the indies were thriving. AEW is proving to be more than a flash in the pan. New Japan has rebuilt themselves. Vince makes evil choices all the time, but rarely does he make a decision that's both evil and as stupid as this one.

There's no way this isn't actually about the couple of wrestlers who appeared for NL with AEW guys and have had other AEW crossovers like Dakota and Xavier.

There’s a video of John Cena on Howard Stern from a few years ago how Vince owns “John Cena” the real life person, not just the wrestling character.
I think this comes down Vince wanting a percentage of any money a talent makes while under contract.
I’m sure random comments from twitch getting to Vinces ear probably struck a nerve as well.
The way I look at it. When you have 70 talents building their own brands, when it comes down to it, the sum (WWE) is worth more than the parts the (wrestlers.) If someone becomes a fan of WWE because they follow Dakota Khai that’s a win for everybody.

I don't like to s*** on Old People for being Old, since someday I'll be Old myself (some people here would already consider me Old, I think), but this is the biggest "Old Man does Spitefully Stupid Thing because he resents the Younger Generations" moment Vince has had yet.

I could also see him as basically being a more mobile and better version of Jericho in AEW. According to the ol' Internet, Orton's worth about $11 million so he could easily retire right now and be fine. And if he did need money, every wrestling company in the world would bring him in for top dollar to do a quick run. He proved how bad Vince wants him just by teasing that he might go to AEW last year, he knows he holds all the cards in his relationship with Vince.

God bless the Rock for telling Vince where he could go with wanting to claim a percentage of his movie earnings, especially now that he's been the highest paid actor multiple years running.

Fightful Select updated their original report to reflect that Vince never said that he owns a wrestler's real name.
And several wrestlers have renamed their twitch channels to either their real name (in the case of Paige) or a new alias altogether (Mia Yim). Alexa Bliss also updated her cameo page so now it lists her real name instead of her ring name, at least URL wise.
Mike Rome also mentioned on his twitch stream that he was just told to change his twitch handle because WWE didn't want the talents profiting off of their IPs (which is scummy, but an entirely different level of scummy opposed to banning them from being on any platforms at all). SRS/Fightful seemed to back this report up as well.

I honestly think that Rock doing better outside of WWE than he ever did in it financially mixed with Brock owning him in court completely broke Vince and he's been getting more and more psychotic since.

I think it’s about time the wrestlers sue Vince and the E. Independent Contractors my butt.

He has also in younger years been this way when he realises he doesn't get a cut from everything they do. The most prominent example may be the fall of King Kong Bundy from Wrestlemania main eventer to released jobber. Bundy got 1987 a commercial offer from a Dutch computer company. Since it's in Europe, Bundy assumed nobody in wwf will get to know this and he did the ad without going through wwf and them taking a share. However somebody got wind of it, according to Bundy then Vince McMahon got angry at him and soon after he was not even a midcarder anymore.

Didn't read all 14 pages but now I know why Paige changed her Twitch name to her real name and legit her yesterday stream she was getting messages and calls from she said her boss.
