It's a legal liability. If someone blurts out something lawsuit worthy (slander, for example) and the twitch channel is publicly perceived as being controlled by WWE (because it uses a WWE owned trademark), WWE could get dragged into the lawsuit. Apparent authority and vicarious liability to use the legal terms. Places like th NBA etc do this You have to be in the course of doing business when you do something tortious for respondeat superior/vicarious liability to attach. I think, honestly, that’s where this grey area starts to come in regarding the real name thing. As I recall, a lot of the wrestler’s social media presence would say things like “Saraya-Jade - WWE Superstar Paige” or “Lexi Kauffman - WWE’s Alexa Bliss”. WWE can definitely stop them from doing that, but there’s really nothing whatsoever they can do to prevent their “independent contractor” employees from doing things under their real names. They probably wouldn’t be able to even if they were actual employees, absent a contractual provision to the contrary. This just reeks of pettiness and has already backfired spectacularly against WWE. |

Either Vince is do dense of how bad his rep has been these past few months or he does not care anymore. Either way, I’d hate to be the PR guy for the company.
Probably doing their best to make sure another Zack Ryder does not rise up.

I forget who said it but I remember someone saying Vince secretly resented what wrestling had turned into. The new generation is all about Video Games and there's no confrontation anymore, and no sex, drugs, crazy partying, politicing to get ahead, etc. Which is ironic, considering the wrestler most associated with video games these days was also featured in the most famous/infamous WWE sex video. |

If you're making enough in WWE, any $ you'd lose from Twitch, Cameo, etc. won't matter as much. You're staying with WWE. If you aren't making much in WWE, AEW won't want you anyway. AEW also doesn't have $ to throw at anyone. They are a 800K viewer niche show with no $ coming in from tickets. They need to watch their $. |

Anyway, I think this is a good idea. It allows us to introduce our brand new service app, called the WWE Network, which allows us to showcase our talent doing things outside the ring that fans can follow along for a monthly fee. What do you mean it's been around for years and doesn't work that way?
