Somebody should read these words to Vince...
"I fear all we have done is awaken a sleeping giant, and fill him with a terrible resolve".

Shao Kahn? Might be a lateral career move, at worst. At least Mortal Kombat treats its jobbers like they matter. Between Shao and Tony, Khans/Kahns who run fighting leagues have a good track record.

We need to find the alternative timelines for WWE. I can’t guarantee we can find one where Vince isn’t a piece of shit, but there’d be a couple where Cesaro gets his post-WM30 world title run, at least.

Let's just say If I was a current WWE Superstar, I would be looking to see if Mr Kahn had any vacancies going. If you're making enough in WWE, any $ you'd lose from Twitch, Cameo, etc. won't matter as much. You're staying with WWE. If you aren't making much in WWE, AEW won't want you anyway. AEW also doesn't have $ to throw at anyone. They are a 800K viewer niche show with no $ coming in from tickets. They need to watch their $. Um... you do realize that not everyone in WWE is making bookoo bucks. It's nowhere near as bad as, say, TNA was, where Taylor Wilde had to work at a Sunglasses Hut and at least one wrestler applied for SNAP benefits (I forgot who it was), but if you're nowhere near the top of the card, you're not getting a lot of money, and you're not getting any exposure, which is what helps in merch sales. The pandemic has especially messed things up, as they have limited the roster, plus there have been talent that haven't appeared on TV in months. Third party media has been the only way these individuals have helped stay somewhat relevant during the past few months. The WWE may have been throwing fistfuls of money here and there around the time AEW launched, sure, yet I don't think they are exactly paying that kind of money as a guarantee.

I forget who said it but I remember someone saying Vince secretly resented what wrestling had turned into. The new generation is all about Video Games and there's no confrontation anymore, and no sex, drugs, crazy partying, politicing to get ahead, etc. Which is ironic, considering the wrestler most associated with video games these days was also featured in the most famous/infamous WWE sex video. Vince seems to forget that the days of lunkheads getting into pro wrestling because they have nothing better to do are over, and have been over for some time. It's no longer necessary for many of these folks to kiss Vince's ass to get ahead when they're proving their worth in the ring for all to see and otherwise making themselves valuable to _any_ promotion operating, and _especially_ those seeking to knock Vince of his throne.

Knowing how this year goes, we'll find the Earth with John Zandig as the ruler of American Wrestling and Inoki-ISM somehow is drawing record money in Japan.

IIRC, that was Jesse Neal that applied for SNAP

Charlotte sure was smart to trademark Ashley Flair. Austin Watson also smart to use his own stage name, rather than using his WWE name or his legal name.

Imagine if this happened back in the mid 90s. They’d have made T.L. Hopper quit his plumb job. Thurman "Sparky" Plugg's legendary racing career would've been cut short. And where would we be without Jeff Jarrett's Aint I Great album?

I think it's safe to say, this has backfired on WWE so far.

What's the difference between Dwyane "The Rock" Johnson appearing in films, and other "Sports Entertainers" appearing on a different platform to make a living? Am I mistaken that he was under a WWE contract while filming early in his acting career? Is this some kind of "special permission" BS? Well, a big difference is The Rock was THE top guy when he started appearing in movies, so he had way more power to tell Vince to f*** off, your midcarders who have a side hustle are interchangeable cogs so Vince can threaten them. Also, it's not like this is the first time. Once he was in movies, how long did The Rock reeeeally stick around? Anyone who's had any success has been straight out of there. It's extra noticeable if you look at the history of women in the company, Maria on The Apprentice and Stacy Keibler on Dancing with the Stars both got heat for doing well outside the bubble and were released around those times.
