Every time I check this thread it has completely devolved into another meme And I'm not disappointed. if there is two things these boards are really good at, it's photoshop threads and making memes (sometimes beating them into the ground). Beating memes into the ground is a proud tradition in my family. My great grandfather Hezekiah XIII used to beat it 10 times a day and 12 on Sunday.

I'm going to get raid shadow legends adverts for the rest of youtube's existence thanks to this thread arent I? Literally the first video I watched today after visiting this thread had an ad for Raid: Shadow Legends. Thanks, gang. Can you really pin that on us and not the marketing team behind Raid going just f***ing everywhere?

Will this ruin the Freakin' Awesome Network Forums gimmick? Also, fake newz which travels across the net - see Christian's Slaves as the trope codifier...

To be fair, we don’t know that’s actually what’s happening. Might just be they can’t do it using WWE trademarked names. If that was the case I don't see why their official statement would include "Notwithstanding the contractual language, it is imperative for the success of our company to protect our greatest assets and establish partnerships with third parties on a companywide basis, rather than at the individual level, which as a result will provide more value for all involved." This is not the language of one protecting trademarked stage names, in which case they would be talking about people needing to enter deals with third parties without the use of IP owned by the company, and abotu the problems with unauthorized use of company IP. Yes but the whole statement was prefaced by talking about their characters and IP. That’s why Paige said on Twitch that she just needs to change her handle.

But then Austin Creed apparently said they're streaming, and if they're "not supposed to", someone would call them. Things don't really add up when you look at it strictly as an issue of IPs; that explain people changing their names, but not the defiant tones and the things we're seeing externally, or even with the pieces of WWE's whole statement. I know that they say things about their characters and IP in that statement, but they're also talking about how people need to enter deals through the company rather than individually. They don't have the authority to enter into deals using WWE's IP regardless. Something else is clearly a part of this, or else the fact this blew up in the first place hardly makes sense, and nobody's actions really click. Austin Creed, who has danced hard around WWE's IPs the entire time and had people christen themselves new names in his side hustle, should not be concerned about if he's allowed to stream.

Let's just admit that we don't know what they're going to do because they haven't decided what they're going to do. They created this vague edict so they can wield it like a weapon to punish who they want to and reward others.

How do we know what they're gonna do when the talent themselves have even said "We don't know what's going to happen"? As I said, it's a "blink first" mentality at this point, none of the wrestlers are gonna stop doing what they're doing, if WWE decides to take action, then shit's gonna go south.

It won't stop them, which is what really sucks. Even if it goes south. Nothing makes Vince blink except a court hammering him. Look how he tried to railroad Punk.

Concerned because of a vague email/letter is possibly how some of the talent are feeling but that doesn’t mean the company is actually planning on shutting down people’s stream accounts under their real names. We’ll probably learn more over the next few days. Obviously it should have been more clear but I’d venture to say a lot of the higher ups probably don’t even fully comprehend Twitch and Cameo.

I can see future WWE/NXT contracts requiring signees to agree to give ownership of any side enterprise (say, the streams, if they write a novel or record an album whilst working for Vince) to WWE. I can also see most WWE prospects, facing such a clause in their contracts, telling WWE to pound sand.
There is no longer any commercial advantage for anyone to sign with WWE if this becomes enforceable.

The likely scenario, it's just incredible that any publicly traded company these days, that indeed employs plenty of high profile people using the platforms in question, could be ignrorant of how these "reforms" would play.

Come to think of it, if Vince were to create a streaming platform for his independent contractors to use instead, calling it "Raid" would be apropos.
