Miro is uhh..not too fond of Meltzer. It's weird how many people in the wrestling business depend on some dumbass game of telephone to find out what Meltzer says. Meltzer said that one of the things that made Vince give this stupid pronouncement was that Lana got an energy drink sponsorship. He wasn't criticizing Lana, he was criticizing WWE's/Vince's response to Lana. For Miro to take that and say Meltzer is going to burn in Hell...strikes me as a slight overreaction.

I like Miro and Lana, but when it comes to social media and criticism, they are pretty garbage at responding to it. And this wasn't even criticism, no one was even mad at Miro or Lana in the least bit. It just feels like they're angry that they were mentioned period.

The only angle I can think of to justify this anger or call it all "lies" and "scapegoating" would be if she'd gone through the office on the sponsorship and done everything through the company, thereby making this totally unrelated. In which case, a) that's not on Meltzer, that's whoever's feeding Meltzer the info and who may or may not be talking shit to make them look bad b) f***ing say it? Defend yourself and explain why that's not true instead of "You're going to burn in hell". So many wrestlers get loud about how much Dave Metlzer is the worst but then don't ever actually explain why, which isn't ever a very good look.

There's a lot of legitimate things to get angry at Meltzer over. Acting like he's using Lana as a scapegoat when he didn't come close to saying anything of the sort isn't one of them.

I think it’s fair to say big Meltzy has touched a nerve and I would wager that points to him being fairly accurate with this story. Which I didn’t really take as any criticism of Lana in the first place.

Yeah, he wasn't criticizing her... but I could see her thinking that hte rest of the locker room will get angry at her over this... but... even if the last thing WAS Lana's Energy Drink thing... it's still a messed up Vince decision.

Is the names thing something like...a real legal thing? Or is that just some boast Vince made. Like is it real or just something he pretends he owns. Cause I don't understand how that can be possible.

Cause I don't understand how that can be possible. He can't own people's real names. If people wrestle under their real names they can lease it to the WWE for the length of their contract... but it doesn't keep them from using it in other avenues than what their contract is for. That said some people were reporting that part of the original report was not true.

He might not have criticised her for it as such but saying her energy drink deal specifically was "The straw that broke the camel's back" put unnecessary attention on her. It's kinda making her the target for everything after.

This stuff is always done by the company to point it at a scapegoat and say “We’re doing this because of them!” when it’s always been BS in that regard. If what comes from this is the roster sneering at Lana doing something she was legally able to do as an independent contractor and not using her WWE name, then we’ve honestly learned nothing from all this.

So anyone who would potentially get angry at Lana already knows. The only way they don't know is if Meltzers source is a higher up which is doubtful. And by the reactions here no one reasonable is putting any blame on Lana. It would only be assholes and trolls who always find reasons to hate and go after people.

Yeah I agree it's probably not the locker room sneering since the other superstars will know what's up. It's more likely the thousands of jerks on twitter etc that are perpetuating the narrative that she ruined everything which is making her and Rusev upset. That's all cos Meltzer name dropped her as the trigger.

Who should we be mad at in all this? It looks like Kurt Angle Scooby Doo Rusev has cracked the case:

Meltzer needs to remember a large chunk if the fanbase are incapable of acting like adults, unfortunately, so will go at Lana for this even though she dud nothing wrong. Unfortunately there's a portion of the fanbase looking for a target so they don't have to blame Vince, a portion who just hate women, and Meltzer naming her makes it easy for them to interpret this as 'Lana made them do it' and then the misogyny can run wild, even though it's all Vince.

So, he should not report things that will make some subset of people on the internet upset. If only all wrestling reporters followed this dictum, WWE could shut down their Independent Contractors' Twitch, Cameo and Youtube accounts in peace!

Isn't it amusing that the Escape Goat actually turned Meltzer into a scapegoat?

I wonder what goes on inside of WWE that some people will think "f*** Dave Meltzer for reporting on how we got stranded by our boss in Saudi Arabia after he f***ed with the crown prince on this blood money show, and we were led out of the airplane while armed soldiers stood around the place and nobody gave us answers. He really f***ing blew it by letting people know the danger we were in and perhaps getting the story out further in ways we could have used to protect ourselves. Anyway let's set him up to look like a buffoon and attack his credibility so that we can never rely on him again in a situation where our safety is in doubt!" Vince would've convinced Elan Sleazebaggano to eat his death sticks right there by the bar so that nobody else could have them.
