If it counts against the downside guarantee, doesn't that mean that in practice WWE wouldn't be paying them any percentage of the revenue? Like, it would be like if you spend 100 dollars each month on lunches, and then one day your employer says "Good news, from now on we will pay for your lunch! Oh, and coincidentally, your monthly salary will now be 100 dollars lower" I could be wrong, but I think downside guarantees work like a wage plus commission job. For example, I used to sell electronics and if I made $250 in commission in a pay period then I got topped up to $1000, but if I made $2500 in commission in a pay period I took home $2500. This would count towards the money to cover you're guarantee if you haven't already crossed that threshold. At least I think that's how this works Still f***ing sketchy as balls

If you ever wonder why so many people engage in schadenfreude towards WWE, it’s because of shit like this.

Just absolute bull****. There are just too many places for people to consider now, even with travel restrictions. Just want a mass exodus so bad now, I cannot stand the cartoon villainy they seem to thrive in.

If they're using Twitch against their downside guarantee, that means they could basically be working for free. I would immediately stop my Twitch as a f*** you until I'm out of the company

If you ever wonder why so many people engage in schadenfreude towards WWE, it’s because of shit like this. This is also why people want AEW to succeed so badly as well as the rising Indie scene, even the likes of Impact. These wrestlers need avenues and possibilities, they need alternatives, not just for the aspect of getting more money, but for the aspect of betting on themselves, and that WWE is not the only game in town they have to be shackled to. There has to be only so much shit these guys and gals can take slung in their face before they make a stand or get the hell out. It's not getting any better, and if any talent were holding out hope for that, this might seal that deal.

This is a terrible look, plain and simple, and I say that even while taking into account a lot of the other things WWE pulls.

"We're going to take control of your personal streaming channel that you've set up, run, & create content for, take the money, & then give you a cut of the revenue.
Yes, you're still just an 'independent contractor', why do you ask?"

I've come to realize i like the wrestlers but i can't stand the company.
I've tried very hard to get back into them this year but they just make it harder and harder.
Between this crap, hampering AEW, the furloughing and releasing wrestlers and agents after posting record profits and the absolute rubbish programming they put out i just can't see my interest in this company improving.

Yep, this is why people are often so cynical when it comes to Vince and WWE.
Why they don't get and don't ever deserve the benefit of the doubt.
Decades of scummy nasty behaviour like this.

I would immediately stop my Twitch as a f*** you until I'm out of the company Depends how long's left on your contract, if it's under a year, I'd focus on the Twitch and let the contract run down so that the channel has all the momentum and audience, do the bare minimum for Vince. What would they do? Job you out? Not book you? That'll just get fans more behind you for when you're out.

It’s an idiotic move and I hope any person working for WWE running a twitch account says f this and stops. It’s clearly going to drive people out of the company and is punishing them for being creative enough to build an audience independently of WWE.

So if you get hurt and you stream on Twitch while recovering you're basically doing it for free because they're putting that towards your downside guarantee? That's wrong. And I think that's illegal if you already signed a contract and that wasn't a part of it.
Either way these guys need to get out of this company or they need to form a union to fight these absurd rules. I get not letting them use their ring names on 3rd party endeavors, if for no other reason than just in case they say or do something that makes news for the wrong reason. It's absurd though that they want to take a cut of something that their Independent Contractors are doing in their free time. Austin Creed is Xavier Woods for 3 hours every Monday, two hours every Friday, and a few hours one Sunday a month. But when he's not in the ring or in the arena he's Austin Creed and he can work a side job.
Do you think TNA took a percentage of Taylor Wilde's Sunglass Hut money?

Seems like as of yesterday the wrestlers are creating accounts under their real names/changing their accounts names to their real names, so this might just apply to those that want to use their WWE names to brand their Twitch account (though waiting to see if anyone reputable confirms that). Might be also that they can’t promote the personal Twitch from their WWE Twitter accounts as I have seen a couple of new Twitter accounts under real names being created as well.

Might be also that they can’t promote the personal Twitch from their WWE Twitter accounts as I have seen a couple of new Twitter accounts under real names being created as well. There is not a WWE talent on Twitch that is using there WWE name still. The thing is the WWE told them they had to close there accounts if they still used the WWE name, or they can kept it if that changed. So they changed there names and made Merchandise based off of that. Nobody is going to know the merchandise stuff unless you been in the said persons stream. It's BS that the WWE is taking there cut on something they had nothing to do with. That Merchandise is them going to there own provider to have them make and a designer they worked with to come up with the T-Shirts or whatever. I mean unless you a follower of lets say Paige's nobody else is going to know what Saraya means if on a T-Shirt or know how to get one when they are only about to be gotten through the stream. While in a stream when you gift a sub your being nice because it allows others to join the chat but also you really buying the said merchandise or gifting someone that merchandise (which I've seen people do.)

Simply put Vince and co hate their talent and they hate the fans. Why does anyone want to work there?
