In an unexpexted turn, Vince will get his own Twitch channel before turning Survivor Series into a real life Fall Guys show. so vince is signing Lee Majors as special guest host this year? Lee Majors?Nope. Here we go again. www.wrestlinginc.com/news/2020/10/exclusive-wwe-taking-over-talents-twitch-accounts-in-four-675426/?WWE will supposedly be taking control of the talents twitch accounts, and the talents will be getting a cut of the profits. That will count against their downside guarantee. What an absolutely horrendous move. Meaning talent making money off of this will make even less. Because Twitch takes half of a subscription fee for most partners/affiliates, and WWE will probably take a cut as well. So a $5 sub would make the streamer $2.50 before WWE takes a cut. Triple H: Hello everybody, welcome to this morning's morale meeting. Yep, it's time for another one already. Time just flies by between the morale meetings... anyway, uh. So uh, here's the thing, I've heard a lot of people saying that we here in WWE are 'tantamount to ogres' or 'annihilating our goodwill faster than Andre could annihilate a bar' or 'making it so that literally everybody who works here hates every second of it'. Obviously we don't want to upset anybody, we want to put smiles on people's faces. So stop saying that. Also, I just want you all to know that if you make a single penny off your name without giving me half of it, I will personally f*** your beloved family pets in front of your children. Anyway, see you all at this afternoon's morale meeting. Meeting adjourned.

People will forget about this in 2 months. Just another outrage, but the second there's a good ladder match on a PPV, people move on. Vince knows this, and really doesn't care what people think. Also, Vince has been doing these kinds of things since the 80's. Ventura called him on it, and won. But when Ventura tried to do something about it for everyone, Hogan sold him out. There will always be someone to sell everyone out, and Vince knows this. Also, there are no real stars in WWE. There's people they push, but if they're gone, it's just the same. They're not dependent on anyone. They could fire Roman Reigns, AJ Styles, Seth Rollins and Randy Orton TOMORROW and nothing would change. And if they wanted to sign to AEW, well hot damn if his loyal Universe doesn't light up Twitter with "AEW IS JUST LIKE TNA HIRING ALL WWE PEOPLE." And obviously they cant work New Japan right now. And Impact hired a lot of them, but they can't hire EVERYONE. To Vince, wrestlers have and always be cattle. That's his personality, that's just him. Seeing his cattle make money on the side pissed him off, so he took control of it. He will fire the people closest to him during a pandemic. He will fire pregnant women. That's who he is. And there's nothing anyone (as of right now) can do about it, because the people who could something about legally sure as hell won't. Ratings had plummeted even before corona, they were running fewer shows because house shows weren't drawing anymore, young fans aren't tuning in to replace those who stop watching, the network has stopped growing... Fan dissatisfaction is having a very real impact on the company, things like this have made fans tune out and the WWE have nothing that can pull them back. Fans may praise the next big ladder match, but those are the most hardcore of fans, people who've stopped watching tend not to be super vocal as there're only so many ways to say 'I'm not watching.' As for treating wrestlers like cattle, I'd say they treat wrestlers like greyhounds. With cattle, everyone knows what the deal is, greyhounds though, they train them, give them fancy names then run them until their bodies break down and then they end up in a dumpster somewhere as the promoters and trainers don't care if they have a life once there's no money to be made. Fans cheer the next dog trotted out, none the wiser.

Aha, they want to use streaming revenue to replace house shows, so now guys won't work 5 days a week on the road it's do tv and then stream 3 days a week to make up that lost house show revenue!

Yeah, there's no way this doesn't bite WWE in the ass when it comes to certain talents contracts eventually expiring. WWE's beginning to become a company where you simply cannot have fun and cannot have a normal life. You have to do everything for them with no say and be absolutely miserable in doing so, and I have to imagine this is a straw breaking moment for a lot of wrestlers who have gotten big on Twitch and also realize they do not need this company or their dumb bullshit anymore. As I said it's gonna be ironic that video games might be something that deals a bigger blow to WWE than the damn Saudi incident, but Vince clearly does not know how talent, and does not understand how stupid this really is. I think you are underestimating how many people there would eat a plate of shit to keep that job because it's their lifelong goal. There's also only so much shit some people can take. I'm not saying everyone is gonna leave but I definitely think some wrestlers might just. There are a lot of names there that can bet on themselves and do not need the company.

This saga is like an episode of “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia”
Like the episode will start with Mac and Charlie playing/streaming something on twitch in the bar, and then Frank comes in and asks what they are doing, after the explanation he tells them to stop “cause it’s a bullshit waste of time”, then Mac explains to Frank they could make money doing this, so Frank goes all in and forces the gang to stream 24/7 and taking most of the revenue cut.

I'm (in some way positively, because this may well bite them) surprised wwe not even tried to handle this with more guile. They could have for example started with the wrestlers on the lowest stages, who have not much of a choice. Then the wrestlers above will, with just some hints, themselves feel pressured to opt in too, because otherwise "this guy may take my place and I will instead be the person with the erection dysfunction storyline".
Guess it tells something about the higher-ups that they think they can even screw every wrestler at the same time.

And then you bring in record profits but some of your independent contractors want to make some extra cash in their free time without giving you a cut! That's hard times, daddy!

I said it awhile ago in this thread but given the update it is worth restating
Imagine with all the bullshit this company has tapdanced over, the thing that just blows up in Vince's face completely is "You can't play video games without giving me a cut of the profit!".
Given how much Vince seems to have a deep seeded hatred for the modern day wrestler and how everything isn't carny cocaine parties like it was in the 80's, it would be the ultimate form of Karma for him to get a harsh dose of reality in the form of finally going too far in a realm he has constantly underestimated because he doesn't understand it, as Vince does not understanding how the world works anymore.

f***ing hell. I've been saying that way too much recently.
You gotta wonder if Vince ran this by the legal team, because if he did and they didn't tell him all the problems and fallout that can come from it, then they're idiots. All it's gonna take is a halfway decent lawyer, and they'll tear it to shreds.

I try not to bash things people like. I avoid being the "hur hur, AEW better than wwe!" type of guy. I let my friends enjoy NXT shows and the wwe ppvs. I try to just enjoy my little slice of wrestling over here in my corner.
...............................................................But holy f***, this company!!! I thought this would have simmered down following the announcement. But nope. Vince doubles down and makes it pretty clear that he's serious. These people want to unwind after work and he just wants to take that away. You can't even play video games. The one place where they can at least have a creative outlet. F*** Vince!
I'm sorry, I was just watching the recent episode of Kana Chan TV and I kind of snapped thinking that this could very easily be the last episode because a senile old man didn't get the memo that slavery had been abolished.

How is this even legal?
Imagine my job telling me I couldn't do this or that after the work hours.
I am sure this is illegal.

So WWE’s cartoonish supervillainy has graduated past “fire former wrestlers we don’t like on their wedding day”, past “help our inept doctor file a frivolous lawsuit against said former wrestler and enable events that ruin a 20 year friendship”, past “promote and do business with a murderous authoritarian regime”, past “play hardball with said regime, fly out immediately, leave our talent to think they’re being held hostage by said regime”, past “try and throttle our biggest new competition in the cradle by nearly sabotaging our only brand with any notable good will”, past “we don’t need no stinking masks or testing regime during a global pandemic”, past “we’re firing people in the middle of said pandemic despite making record profits”, past “we want our talent back on the road during said global pandemic despite having just had an outbreak”, and they’ve now made it all the way to “$#&@ it, let’s engage in straight up wage theft of our falsely labeled independent contractors.”
#$&@. This. Company.

I wonder if this is nakedly going to be them just shaking down their employees for money (probably), or if they're going to try to justify it by offering some kind of promotion for the channels. Probably a token effort, sure as hell not worth as much as they'll be siphoning off of their wrestlers.

WWE going for the professional equivalent of the NCAA deal where the players aren’t allowed to make any money on the side despite being the people that the fans are paying to see.
Imagine the NBA and/or Lakers telling LeBron that he can have an endorsement or a YouTube channel and he’ll get a cut after they run their grubby fingers through it.
WWE needs to get with the times, but when the guy making all the decisions is a trash human with money grifter that still looks at talent as if he owns them things like this will continue to happen.
The positive though is that, while I’m sure that it is still many a talents dream to work for the WWE, it’s not like it was in previous times because it has never been easier to make money and create a brand for yourself than it is now and people realize that. That’s what Vince doesn’t understand and that’s what will cause the collapse of the WWE. Once the indies and Japan get going again and talent can make good money on bookings in addition to their side hustles online without the WWE finger f***ing it and all the while controlling their own gimmick/image/bookings there will be a talent exodus.
WWE system is trash, no other way around it.
