Um...  If there was ANY facade that the "independent contractor" was bs all along,this just puts down and Vince knows no one will do anything about it. To have an idea the ONLY people that are obligated to stream under contract are the girls and gal that work as VTubers for some japanese companies. Apologies in advance, but the mental picture of Vince forcing, say, Wesley Blake to be some kemonomimi "waifu" VTuber (and make him pay for someone to do the modeling and rigging for it out of his own pocket) would be darkly hilarious. Especially with Vince making him wear an earpiece and screaming at him exactly what he wants him to say. "NO! MAKE THE CUTE NOISES LIKE THIS, DAMMIT!!!" Horrible and abusive, yes, and shouldn't happen to anyone (and this is a problem, Vince makes himself such an overexaggerated character of a nasty bastard, even in his actual business life, that it's way too easy to be desensitized to his outrageous behavior), and even more unfortunately, all too easy to believe that Vince actually WOULD do it. |

Thing about the independent contractor clause is that it doesn't even stand out as the big piece here. If your employer said that from now on you have to do video game streaming for them so they can take a cut, and what money is left will be counted against your paycheck, that would be insane, too. The designation absolutely needs to change, but it stands outside of the driving issue that needs to be fought here.

Isn't there some way the WWE Board of Directors can remove Vince from his position? Other Corporations have forced their CEOs to step down.

Certainly a valid question for "will the company pull this shit post-Vince?", but zero happens in WWE without Vince's approval, so I think it's fine to use the chief decision maker as the nominal punching bag for every horrible thing they do, even if the origin was: Monster Hunter: "Hey pops, I've got a great idea how to get another $45k out of each employee!" Vince: "Get 'em!" |

No matter what scenario, someone like Vince has to approve 99% of the company decisions even if they are delegated since they’re the ones responsible for keeping the lights on and people fed. So even if it was Shane’s idea, Vince still approved it and it’d be his fault if it went wrong. |

Vince owns most of the voting stock. To my knowledge they have never released enough voting stock for anyone to ever outvote him. If he was certifiably insane or in a coma or something there should be clauses to remove him. But these decisions dont come anywhere close to what would be necessary. |

I mean, Triple H doesn't game much these days but he's stated that he's got a retro arcade in his house, liked gaming as a kid and played and beat Metal Gear Solid off the road back in the day. He was on UUDD talking about his gaming.
I'm sure this guy would get it more than Vince and his "all of today's kids are gaming and aren't grabbing that brass ring" ass self.

So... if you stream, the company will take your money and it counts towards the pay the company would be required to give you annually?
And I guess they would make it so you'll have to stream instead of wanting to stream.
Which is when streaming often stops being fun.

Also, thinking from his perspective, he likely has so many times left he can be relied on to pop a rating or get a couple more subscribers, besides Saudi tours, before the audience remember the Attitude Era was over 20 years ago and the old guys lose their luster. They got so desperate, they broke the “Shawn Michaels” glass panel, for Pete sake. It’s likely why he’s building someone like Adam Cole and crafting him into, at worst, a really reliable hand and at best, the future of the company along with other people down in NXT and making them “his guys”. For that to happen, you use your own experience of being on the road to make life easier for the generation coming through or else you’re doing Taker/HHH matches until the heat death of the sun. We can debate whether his methods are questionable or not (There’s a reason Gallows on BTE joked about “Two Pauls in that company” that’ll never lie to him, along with how much the Dream stuff is biting him on the ass) but the method is clearly there. |

Even if Vince didn't come up with the idea, he knew about it enough to give it the OK. And he has a decades-long history of humiliating. exploiting, and abusing his talent emotionally and financially. He doesn't get benefit of doubt in this at all.

This reeks of something Vince found out about and, in his insane, deteriorating state, decided "We need to take control of this". It could've come from elsewhere, but this stands so obscenely in defiance of sense or even legality that it feels like something he's decided on and won't be talked out of. If this did come from someone else then yeah they should also be hanged, drawn, and quartered. This is right up there with "Vince left Saudi Arabia while his wrestlers were held hostage at the airport" in terms of moves that show that the affable, crazy, 'complex' man who people told funny stories about isn't there anymore. I've never been too keen on the crazy Vince stories as an angle to humanize him and act like it offsets the vile shit he does in the first place, but like. That man is gone now. In his place is a manipulative, exploitative nightmare man whose refusal to relinquish total control is smothering his company and the careers of the people breaking their bodies for his record profits.

Yang is already up the WWE's ass as it is, keep the pressure on them.
I have not given the WWE any money or viewership beyond the occasional youtube clip in years. If enough do the same, Vince will either learn a lesson or lose a lot of money.

Yeah, I don't see this as anybody else but Vince doing this. Trips actually has the ability to read the room (which is how he snaked to the top) ,and would most likely see the value of keeping the things they were before when it comes to social media.
